I love this lady followed her from Street Life in the 70's and I have to say this is the only cover that has never worked. Her and Gwen Dickey had the definitive voices of the 70's and in this cover it shows. Gwen Dickey and Rose Royce were the benchmark with their songs in the same way Randy posted some classics. I am just so happy I was around to enjoy them both, it was a priveledge
when i first heard randy's version i wasn't all that enthralled with it, primarily because the classic 1977 version by rose royce was so deeply ingrained into my psyche, but as time went on i have to say now that i am an avid fan of randy's version; it has not only just "grown on me" but it is now among my favourites. i also found out that the great vince fontana of the salsoul orchestra fame did the music for this cut. it's pure randy crawford at her amazing best.
