  • boy is this song prescient as we enter this corpo fascist neo feudalist suck ass era ... was this song from the 80's?

  • Everyone keeps comparing them to Captain Beefheart. But the truth is that Mark Stewart and the boys didn't even know who the Captain was then. They just wanted to sound like a legit funk band, but it got filtered through a punk/dub style.

  • This is like the perfect mix of Cap'n Beefheart, King Crimson, James Brown and the Stooges!

  • @Rivendude can't disagree a jot!

  • Hard to believe Nick Cave would acclaim this. Even his worst songs are better than this. Apart from a certain noisiness and beefheartness, I can't hear any resemblance to the Birthday Party's much better written songs.

  • @MrGutley I guess you're alone on that front.

  • This song was really on Ashes to Ashes?? Primetime BBC1???

  • thumbs up if you hearing this for crookers

  • my first REAL 7" , released ´77 . . .

  • This is more genuinely "dub" than any dubstep I've heard.

  • we are all johns

  • Agyness Deyn's shirt brought me here

  • @thereshouldbepeace my t-shirt of agyness deyn wearing that shirt brought me here

  • @sbrnkhn1 I'm sorry to hear that.

  • @MrLadyworld i googled it and found a punk store in the uk that has it lol im in the us it took like 3 weeks

  • crookers made this a real song(:

  • Can't stop listening to this... FUCK YEAH.

  • is pigbag a slang term for prostitute ?

  • @programkill wikipedia: "Their first gig, (was) supporting The Slits at Romeo and Juliet's in Bristol. They played a twenty minute version of what was to become "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag" to a very positive reception, and the next day O'Dell invited them to record the track for Y Records. At this point they adopted the name Pigbag, in reference to Chris Hamlin's scruffy cloth bag bearing a screen-printed warthog"

  • splendid

  • sucks

  • so what about the reunion? i prefer y to their 2nd album tho its good and catchier

  • I still have this t-shirt

  • Crookers do an amazing remix of this!!!!!

  • I think the sentiment here is largely true.. I think everybody has a price..and that doesn't necessarily mean for Sex. Some might disagree, but you go to work everyday don't you?

  • @messthetics Yes but there is a huge difference between letting srangers insert thair digits and apendeges inside various holes of your body versus Building a house or fliping a burger.

  • @KiffffiK True but I bet you'd let someone stick a wooden spoon up your arse for a billion pounds.

  • @messthetics You can make people pay for that? Damn! All this time I could have been rich!

  • @KiffffiK I like building houses, and flipping burgers (we hold barbecues) and as for inserting things into my various orrifces.... i'm a bit skint, a Grand should just about cover it!

  • This song is awesome. Thanks for posting this video. Sounds like a dance punk band I would've really liked 5 years ago.

  • album?

  • @erxfluis You can pick up this cut of the song on the "We Are All Prostitutes" retrospective. Feel free to drop me a private message if you can't find the album floating around. :-)

  • Sort of Iggy Pop imitation

  • Fuck the govornment I will make them the prostitutes and we will all be their pimps... I will poke the all seeing eye with the Washington monument

  • Best "song' ever,it blows everything awaaaaaaay!

  • i heard barry mannilow did a cover of that...

  • I still have the black'n'white version of this t-shirt from 79/80 (whenever it was) I dare not wear it because it is so thin and worn but the design is still there. great tune, great t-shirt (wheres the book?)

  • I Am A Prostitute. Just Like You All M.........s.

  • I'm not the best on British accents but I'm pretty sure he's saying attrition not aggression.

  • I own the single and on the cover there are the word of the song "aggression" is correct, tomorrow I will do a scan and put the link.

  • pretty unbelievable what crookers made out of it..

  • It's practically an insult!

  • @samuraiinCfede it's DEFINITELY an insult!! lol

  • @miamiwax crookers...agh

  • fuck crookers!

  • for how much longer do we tolerate mass murder.

  • Great track,,, I have the vynils and, they are like gold for me that cacophonic music is the greatest so far , post punk Avant-garde music , timeless

  • This record should be put forward for the best sound ever*****

  • in 1999 channel 4 asked various celebraties to pick their favorite piece of music from the previous millenium.most picked very predictable pieces by bach, motzart, beethoven ect..some adventurous folk chose dylan, the beatles ect..nick cave picked this.GOOD ON YA NICK !!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @praxylite lmao, picking Dylan is not more "adventurous" than picking Bach...

  • @praxylite it is pretty birthday party/beefheart to be sure.

  • Super duper.

  • do someone remember this great sampler "wanna buy a bridge" from cherry red? pop group, scritti politti, cabaret voltaire, spizz energy, robert wyatt, slits, minus delta t, and some more

  • absolutely epic!

great upload. thank you much :-)

  • check it out Nick Cave and The Birthday virtually copied this band totally and why not ? Awesome

  • Dark lyrics!

  • ahh, the sweet cacophony ... this one goes out to the new ruling class in the USA ... hypocrisy abounds! .... minus the jabs at capitalism, of course ... ( * )

  • One of my favourite songs ever. It's actually like listening to a hymn for me.

  • my god, my fuckin god, i'm going crazy with the fucked up vocal in this song!!! GAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks. I've always wanted to hear more of that original album but any re-issues I've seen were way too expensive. This sounds a little higher pitched vocal-wise than I remember.

Check out another tune by Really Red called Prostitution if you don't already know it. Their Teaching You The Fear record is a great diverse sounding American hardcore record.

    They were from Texas.

  • doesn't sound exactly like the version I remember from the rough trade comp. Was this the album or single version? Anyone know?

  • I uploaded the version from the 1998 album of the same name.

  • @quieterrps Is the original

  • @quieterrps Exactly the same version that I played on

  • The remix of this is fucking dreadful. What wasted potential - imagine a dubby mix with these kind of rhythms. Instead they just plonked down some useless generic trendy bollocks.

  • Completely agree, the remix is utter excrement.

  • It actually is quite rare, along with their 2nd album. Out of print and they go for huge prices amoungst record collectors.

  • grow up man, it's not rare.

  • I, and you and you. we all are prostitutes. If you want this album...buy a japanese (deleted) cd. I've got this shit on vinyl, kids. But I will not sell it. *cause you'll never have price enough...

  • excellent

  • anyone know where i can get an mp3 version of this, theres nothing on itunes or amazon

  • what someone has remixed this song its awsome remixs are a load of bollocks covers are ok i guess but remixs are just terrible

    this song rules

    long live punk rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Crookers remix

  • haha, whoa. so this is where the samples from the Crookers remix comes from.

    interesting song.

  • what a fucking genius band.

  • finally the original and not some sodding remix, thanks for posting!

  • great song ............

  • there's already a dead body in yours. and if we're talkin bullshit, i just grew wings and flew into outer space where i met the magical pixie love. I got three wishes, one, to go back to earth, two, to do anything i want whenever, and three, that the dead body is in YOUR closet. there fore, you die unconditionally because my dead body holds u back from resending this 6 times while your dead body plucks out ur eyes and eats ur brains.

  • Lived in a hostil in london wore this little black badge with we are all protitutes on it and sang it everone I met even then it was true and is today now im in my 50s you to will learn to live the lie.... the cause our children will rise up against us because we are the ones to blame.. scary.

  • I've still got the badge.

  • this rules. god damn

  • They were just telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. No god helped them. Check some Blurt stuff!

  • if you like this, try listen to John Lydon - World Destruction, it kind of reminds me of that a bit.

  • gosh, you´re serious? hope not

  • Fascinating song. The funk rhythms are typical of No Wave era, while the discordant melody of this song reminds me of Captain Beefheart.

  • Reminds me more of Ornette.

  • The most insane, disco/funk/punk political freakout song ever!!! Once these sounds made their way to my ears, I was never the same again!

  • sounds like the virgins listened to this band and said to eachother 'hey these guys are rad, let's make it suck'

  • Lol.

  • YEAH.. WE ARE ALL SOME HOES

  • This song is available on the 5cd box set 'Punk And New Wave 1976-79'. You might me able to find it on E-bay. If your into post-punk its worth getting, as the final disc solely concentrates on this genre. Good luck.

  • No Thanks, the 70's Punk Revolution is also a good set, and includes a track by The Pop Group.

  • if i was to get an album by them, which would u recommend?

  • The 1st album is the definitive one. Re-released a couple of years ago.

  • Mark Stewart, a seer who foresaw a slide into spiritual sterility- mortgage slaves selling their soul for a depreciating car, a loveless wife, a credit card and children who are strangers. The brightest and the best never saw it coming- we are told-take them to a tall building and let them fly to their spiritual home!!!!

  • Anyone know where I can download this?

  • Yes, download "atube catcher" and after use it to download song or movie ;D. its rlly nice ;P

  • Saw the video on BBC many years ago, must find.

  • There´s one track on the live album "We are time" that I was looking for here. It´s called something like "sense...". It has a killer bass line, and it was one of my very first "New Wave" tracks when I thought this was New Wave.

  • Comment removed

  • Sense of Purpose, right - cheers! Great track. What really got me, I think, was the Motown background singing "Uhuh" while there was a war of noise in the front. Why don´t you upload it here?

  • My vinyl of this is cracked. I have missed hearing it. Luckily my Pop Group albums have survived.

  • Thanks! Been looking for this too.
