  • Extremely underrated song!! it's just amazing

  • 3:43 Sparks?

  • @MiddleEye512 Or it could be the "Underture".

  • Does anyone hear the Brian Wilson influence in this composition. It definitely has pre-Tommy ideas. And remember, it was 1967, "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Her Satanic Majesties Request". That was some competition!!!!

  • Tommy has so much baggage - I wish Townsend had written a "Rael" opera that we could unearth now.

  • @ChrisYonts Sorry that sounds ungrateful doesn't it?

  • @ChrisYonts Never even thought of that...But you are So right. !

  • This song is great in itself! It's also part of what later became "Tommy"!

  • In one sense this is quite a , well , 'strange' (if that's the right word) Who track in that the main instrumental sound is from the Hammond , not the guitar - in part 1 anyway....not that there's anything wrong with that , it all sounds superb in my opinion ! And this is SO under-rated , as lukestar1991 says.

  • There first rock opera?

  • @TheGB1950 Their first Mini Opera was A Quick One in 1966, but this and Im A Boy (and Happy Jack) were their first operatic pieces.

  • @Lukestar1991 Thanks, I got it right after a bit(A Quick One) but forgot to delete the comment, I had all the Who's albums up to Tommy, and remembered reading it on the jacket.I like the early Who stuff .Before all the fringe.Saw them live at the Filmore East , left there naturally high, I think I had my ear drums blown out.

  • This is a really great song by The Who.

  • @1962drob like most things from this period, its so underrated.
