Love this piece by Prokofiev. Sounds like demolition of an entire city. Or a manufacturing plant full of gleaming metal.

beyond believe. so much power. so dry and in-your-face. so individual. I'm overwhelmed.

This sounds like a MIDI! Of course, if a human recording sounds like this, that instead makes it really interesting.

Prokofiev gave the premier performance. Richter premiered the 7th and 9th sonatas. (Gilels premiered the 8th).

the dedicatee and still its greatest exponent....

Richter was not the dedicatee of this sonata, Prokofiev dedicated his 9th piano sonata to Richter.

who WAS the dedicatee??????????
it was not dedicated to anybody
he did, however, give the first performance.
Great but the thirds at the beginning are to disconnected for me. That is not an uncommon problem though.

its not a problem..he wants to do it this way, liking it or not its a matter of taste og course

Indeed. I respect that he liked to play it this way. After all, we are all different.
Explanation is that Richter envisioned machinery, industrialism. That's why it is so "mechanical" and sometimes sounds like its propelled like a train or pistons.
What do you mean by "disconnected"?
