Where I was living at that time I couldn't get a dog, and liked the Umbrella Cockatoo's. It was sheer luck that I found Rocky, in a home where he wasn't wanted, and very neglected. It was fate!

He wasn't blind in this video, but soon after he developed cataracts and now he is technically blind...only seems light changes and movement, but not detail. He used to walk, also....I'd let his feathers grow out and he'd still walk back to his cage!

The level of trust that an animal can give to a human always amazes me. Rocky is a very loved bird. He seems so content.

Yes, me too...where would we be without our pets? He does seem very content which is about a 180º from when I first got him. He makes it easy to care for him because he is so docile...even now with his impairment he is still happy.

Thanks...some just have a very easy-going personality, Rocky has always been very docile. There are techniques to train your bird to step up...not enough room here to teach you, but training books can help! Good luck!

Parrots are very different from any other pets. And Cockatoos are very different from any other parrot. You have to love one to understand them.

They are a mix between newborn baby, toddler, puppy, and screech owl! lol With a little monkey thrown in for our amusement.

that's awesome! I haven't taught Rocky many tricks, he had a pretty rough life before I got him, so I have always let him do his own thing. Now that he's nearly blind he does react better to things that I've slowly been training him to do. You should put up some vids.

Thanks, I've had him about 15 years now and he is very special to me. When I got him, he didn't like people because his previous owner neglected him. He's pretty incredible.
