  • Are you really have a cry over 7 grams less fat on your body? I bet you are a fatty

  • damn need some candy....NOW!

  • Who cares !!!!

  • It's life, and that's what happens. Yeah life sucks but oh well. Bread used to be 5 cents for a loaf, and eggs 10 cents a dozen. Prices eventually have to go up, or in this case, instead of raising the price, they just kept the price the same for slightly less food. It's the same principal, and if I had to choose 1, I would choose "less food/same price" over "same amount/higher price".

  • 7 CEO's of chocolate compagnies didnt like the video LOL thumbs up

  • Oh, I love mars. Its my favorite chocolate. If only they made giant bars like cadbury, and galaxy. This is a great video Leo, and will flick a switch in our minds. My dad said that they were giant when he was a kid, so It must have been happening drastically in England. Why Guys, do you have to downsize confectionary classics and flagship iconic products? Thumbs up

  • i live in england and this has been happening for years they shrink the size up the price and tax when iwas a teen in the 90s a king size snikers (marathon) was 43p and was massive they have shrunk and shrunk since and now scrapped the king size in favor of the duo which is 2 small bars in 1even more of a ripp off !!!! FUCK YOU MARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT VIDIO

  • Arnott's have just done this also now with Shapes... 200g down to 175g

  • Its marketing obviousness. I'm surprised they can look themselves in the mirror afterwards...

    Well then again...

Being feebly masterminded by CEO's, self serving add agencies and the slyly guiding hands of corporate share holders...Look themselves in the mirror, WTF am I saying, they live for this shit! They'll be buying themselves more mirrors in their new edition slimmer portion profits pool house. Just so they can remind themselves how great they are when they walk by.Or stand there, basking.

  • @SN011GlobeTrot in the end there is no law against making a profit, and it's pretty obvious consumers don't really care if their portion sizes are reduced,,BUT are highly sensitive to price rises

while this continues downsizing will rule

  • They probably feel that kids, who are essentially who they are most trying to reach through these misleading ads and emergency deployment of "spinsationalistic" measures. Are on average much more easily fooled. And as candy companies perhaps feel that they want to keep the magic and illusion of invincibility of all things economies and markets. Something all the ordinary children and slightly older, dafter folk they are trying to fool here have no understanding of anyway. No not marketing genius

  • This statement from Mars is the height of hypocrisy. Most other food companies just come right out and say it. We've reduced portion size to avoid having to reduce costs. As majority of "consumers" will go for reduction in portion and stable costs over portion stability and EGAD inflationary measures of product. I feel it is because so many of mars most loyal "subjects" are young scarfers of much sugary excess and they shant want to tamper a entire youth movement of brand loyalty programming.

  • Canada's mars bar is 42.5 grams (2 pack)

  • wow its only down 7 grams

  • @Xocarroll88Xo and thats exactly the attitude the big companies love to see, this lets them do the same trick over and over

    foolish to even say this

  • Asda do a cheap mars bar knock off I guess. it's called Caramel Bar and weighs 1.4 ounces (not sure of grams my scales wouldn't work) there's no weight on the pacaging either

  • its going down in india

  • Don't eat mars bar they test on animals.... ano like WTF but look it up its completely pointless what they do and sicking

  • It's not just for profit, but to battle inflation, too.

  • Price goes UP.. Size goes DOWN

    Pure profit

  • @PronStarKilluminati yes i agree

  • Mars used to be the ultimate chocolate. Now its not that great since they changed it..

  • I'm glad you make these videos to make us more aware of sly companies subtly changing their products!

  • 0:09 - that would be THE UK not just ENGLAND.

0.13 - The only country stupid enough to do that is Scotland!

    fools

  • I want aa mars bar now.....GIVE ME A MARS BAR!

  • who the hell cares? chocolate is chocolate, its still delicious:)

  • I wish everyone would just stop buying them and vote with their wallet/purse.

  • 1:04 , i want to take a bite of that so go damn bad, double mars bar...mmmmmmm

  • Great videos mate, very informative and "fun size" WTF that is not fun in the slightest :P Ever tried a deep fried mars bar???

  • lol to where constaly raisng the bar

  • Jag är så jävla trött på tjockisar!!

  • Obese people are ruining the world! >:[

  • i was perfectly happy listening to the undertones now I mourn the death of a Mars bar.

  • In Canada it's 52g. I was thinking of this video while eating it in two bites and I wasn't satisfied.

  • Watch out man they could snatch you away while you're making those videos just like they did with the wikileaks guy!

  • considering the dishonest and in some cases antisocial behaviour of companies such as mars cadbury and nestle not to mention the garbage that often goes in product I am inclined to stop eating chocolate

  • In the 60's as a 10 year old lad, I looked forward to getting a "bite" into the crisp thick layer of chocolate on top of the caramel layer. When I did this I got a satisfying "crunch" as the chocolate top broke up. Today I cannot replicate this with the current bars, seems like half the fun has gone out of the Mars bar, and yes, I do still have most of my teeth!

  • Sorry, I meant 45g.

  • In the 1970s the Mars Bar was 40g. The new downsized bar is still bigger at 53g.

  • instead of downsizing, why dont they make sugar free versions of mars or any other popular chocolate bar?

  • @flangermanmanmanip Wow, that's actually a pretty sensible idea! :)

  • @thenameissammy It may sound like a sensible idea but one that any food company would never take it upon themselves to try and remedy as all choices to do with obesity are purely individual and through the largely uncontrollable force of ones own metabolism. Although the only motivating factor to ever get a company like Mars to act in the interest of public health is a glaring public spotlight and debate on itself, the only factor at work and play hehe, here is MONEY!

  • SO stupid (the downsizing, I mean)

  • Partial to a mars bar.

  • OH MY GOD. 7 grams? Holy shit imma sue Mars. :O

  • i dont think that its even their fault. its just the shitty economy and everything is expensive. sucessful companies like this usually listen to customers if they can afford to

  • You want a Mars bar to increase in size by 25%..... stop buying them.

  • Paddle Pops also were reduced in size and labeled "fun size".

  • Its friday night and I'm watching a video about mars bars and eating a mars bar lol

  • and thats why i always by a duo bar

  • i noticed that the cadbury giant freddo frogs are smaller and lighter now...

  • .....look at common chips and snacks, ie Twisties or Smith's Crisps, 50g to 45g ?

  • @BiLock102 ah yes, just track back through the comments here and the cadbury downsize and it reveals a sorry number of downsizes

the big issue is the majority of consumers don'e even care, they would rather be ripped via size than pay a little extra for a proper serving

  • @leokimvideo Cheers dude:)

  • @BiLock102 and thanks for finding those other videos, nice work

  • Deeo fried delecasy? Really? WTF Deep fried mars bars and snickers are sold at tons of fish and chip shops.

  • @MissQuattrone , often street food become 5 star fodder, thats a fact of life if you know your food

  • @MissQuattrone ...There sold No where near me, I know there are in Scotland though.

  • This is just one way a corporation increases its profits, giving less and keeping the price the same. Coke pulled a fast one by replacing cane sugar with cheaper corn syrup in the 80s and advertized it as 'new coke". Then they reintroduce original coke later with the corn syrup. Funny you can still get real coke in Mexico today.

  • @luke19631963 the trend i see now with mars bars and snickers is they are sold as a double bar, mainly found at service stations and take aways. attached to this is a nice price tag

so they shrink the bar then package it as a shruken double act and hit you in the wallet for the new format, very clever work indeed.

  • @leokimvideo Yes indeed its clever work. 3 Musketters is also sold as a "double" bar package. Another example of clever downsizing is coffee. When I was a kid it was sold in one pound metal cans. Then Folgers got the idea to sell it in vaccumed sealed foil bags for 'freshness". These bags only weighed 13 ounces, not 16,but cost the same.

  • everything is downsized, just look at the Big Mac they should rename it Mini Mac.

  • In Slovenia, our bars are now 43gramms. And I don't buy it any more, for this price and that quantity, fake ones are better.

And XXL Mars are 2 small bars instead of one big one.

  • The one i just ate was 52 grams! I want my 1 gram!

  • WOAH! thats an old package! 1990s!

  • why is a minuscule reduction in the size of a Mars Bar treated like Watergate here?

  • This was in related videos to The Undertones song. Quite an interesting video though!

  • Comment removed

  • lol, I never knew this! Good job! Now I know why I dont feel as satisfied when I eat them. lol

  • @sealdog1 you don't feel satisfied cos it's not packed with peanuts, it may only contain traces of em...lol

  • @mjmeawad

Lol. No wonder i swell up like a balloon! nah jokes.

  • hey not in england in england we get more quility but in (i cant spell your conrty sorry) it has to be shipped and anywau the main factory in england has anither secret ingridient unlike the factorys in other countrys

  • There shouldnt be any messing about with Mars bars, the powers that be must be toppled, they probably knew i wouldnt notice my munchies getting smaller, they were right but i can see it now, i predict riots.

  • @Carbon657 - Here in the US. I havn't eaten a Mars bar since the 1980's. I believe that their US plant was sold or returned to the UK. and the Hershey's Corp. bought their remaining sellers Snickers, Twix and Three Musketeers and they are also sold in big sizes here. I used to love Mars bars, back then they were made with almonds, or chocolate with caramel or nugat ( glucose ). You're having the same problem like here in the US, The Govt. want to tell you how to stay healthy -

  • - cont. and force companies and corporations to sell smaller portions or change products for health reasons. The same has happened to Mc Donalds, Burger King, and other fast food companies and candy companies alike. This is the NWO at work and will not stop until all freedoms are subdued.

  • @VirgilB01 I agree, our right to freedom of choice is slowly being taken away. In almost all aspects a modern day living there is examples of that.

  • Just watched your cadbury video and i'm amazed at how much you whine about food downsizing that's LEGALLY DONE.......as if it was done in some back alley with a guy in a black trenchcoat or something. Seriously though, as I said in the cadbury vid comments they haven't cheated anybody as long as they list the new weight on the packaging.....legally this is ALL they have to do, so stop complaining already. Either buy it or buy other products but stop acting like it's a big deal or that you're..

  • @MegaLordKratos

....going to effect a big change because most likely you won't. Now i'm not saying some change is never going to happen on the corporate front or that it's a bad thing...just that it's not very likely given the current system of doing things.

Also btw to any who are gonna boycott: I(and other consumers) will be sure to buy a bar to replace every one you guys don't buy so good luck trying to boycott....lolololol.

    END LINE

  • I like your vids

  • Theres a nut bar that used to be 40g, it got downsized to 37.5g, and it got priced up.

  • if the price came down FINE but they are basically playing the 'healthier' card to make more money. what company gives a fuck about health when they are rolling in money, they make sugar treats, if they were worried about health they would sell vegetables.

  • This was very interesting and I agree that the reduction was done mainly in the interest of profit rather than comsumers' health but I will say that years back, before they changed the recipe of Mars from the heavier filling consistency {which I in fact preferred} I tended to find them a little too much to eat in one go. This didn't matter if I was at home, I'd just leave a bit in the fridge for later. As they've made Mars more poncified and MilkyWayish light nowadays, we need more g, not less !

  • From Wikipedia: (Mars Bar) In May 2007 Mars UK announced that Mars bars, along with many of their other products such as Snickers, Maltesers, Minstrels and Twix would no longer be suitable for vegetarians, Muslims and Hindus because of the introduction of rennet, a chemical sourced from calves’ stomachs used in the production of whey. Masterfoods confirmed that many other products such as Easter eggs and ice cream would also be affected.

    That's just gross!!!!!!!!

  • @classicUKads It holds the bar together better.

  • that looks like the UK mars bar, did they do the same thing to the American fatty's?

  • its a gay video shut the fu** up

  • @manuelsvids Gay? That's the best you've got? Back to the basement bedroom for you, chump.

  • @sparkydaskworl shut the fucck asss hole go back to fucking ur mom and sucking ur dick perverted bich

  • @manuelsvids Sorry Leokim - he's 18, yet he writes like a retard. I'd continue on but it's the special Olympics dictum - racing against the handicapped means even if you win, you still lose.

  • Walkers crisps did the same in the uk droping 5grams from a 35gram packet they made 3.5million pounds by doing it.

  • go on im supporing u all the way

  • interesting that you still have the old style bars.

the mars bar i have on front of me (and soon in my belly :)) has a different (modernised) Mars font. plus there's nothing where your bars have the weight printed on them. they actually moved the weight indication over to the other side under the flip-over part where the best before date is... what a ripoff..

  • people are just going to eat 2 of them now...

  • Damn, 7 grams of my bar gone! What am I ever going to do!?

There's big problems in the world, just eat the fuckin bar if you want the bar.

  • maaz baaa

  • Its stuff like this that makes me think of demolition man movie, where anything that is bad for u is illegal an that future sucked so bad....

Besides with this Mars bar topic is stuff like this that just make me buy two of em?

  • wow i didnt ealise mars bars used to be that small ,oh how im going to sleep better tonight

  • We're constantly shrinking the bar! Love your work Leo!

  • thnk u nxt time i visit my local shop ill make sure to investigate

  • @maskedmugs I know your really rude!

  • @maskedmugs I bet you're stupid and uneducated. Leo's taking the time to make videos for us. What do you contribute?

  • @maskedmugs Own'd

  • this is fucking crap

these marketers are stupid, and they think we are stupid because they think we wont notice

    well huh, think again

    thankyou

  • I've noticed the big pouches of sweets that you get at the movies and in asda and things. They seem really full of sweets, and then when you open it, you find most of the top portion is.. well.. air.

  • i think only scotland deep fries it and they deep fry everything

  • I noticed it as soon as they changed it...

  • thanks for posting this video. these companies are being twats as they continue to fool us and yet we dont even notice these changes. Its bad for all of us.

  • I am suprised at the amount of flamers in the comments. He is speaking 100% truth, can't they deal with that?

  • @mini696

Let them flame, every comment raises the profile of the video!

  • hmmmmmm chocolate

  • its the same as bounty

  • Is this really a big deal?

    It's reducing your sugar/fat intake...

I may be wrong idk, but really it's not that big of a change.

Why make a big deal out of it? it's still chocolate, and probably doesn't make such a difference..

  • hmmm, naked chocolate

  • go outside and enjoy life instead of complaining about things- life is good!

  • lol raising! you mean malteasers!

The! you mean Twix! Constantly it is Snickers!!!! You gotta be kidding!

  • eww dude those mars bar's look sick

  • You should keep up with your awareness program... More people NEED to know!

    Thanks a LOT!

  • Its about them Ripping you off charging the same price for a down size bar

  • get a puppet and go away

  • Comment removed

  • I just thought that id look up mars bar vids cos I'm eating one oh and I can fight the weight of my mars bar on it's wrapper

  • it just suddenly dawned on me how much I loved the older thick mars bars, casual consumer but still ot happy with this ate one almost every day from year 7-12 lately not to much but still dig them, i often have them late at night or while drinking

  • Everything is getting smaller.......

    and more expensive.

  • @E421UGE womens pussys arent

  • @E421UGE fucking japanese! i knew it!

  • @Intrepid93pro

ur comment is so fucking stupid , did u even watch the movie or didnt u understand it?

  • Fun-sized Mars Bars would make ideal normal sized mars bars for dwarves.

    come to think of it

King- sized mars bars would make ideal normal sized mars bars for giants

  • im eating one right nao! nom nom nom nom nom nom

  • Wot about inflation tho init

  • Just another rip off by a big corporate giant, just like Cadburys. As if they have consumer health concerns. lol.!!!!. They have company profit concerns. Maybe if they reduced the price as well as the portion we might believe them!!!!!.

  • @theborge442 its been admitted that its to reduce costs, i dont think mars are to involved in globalisation and because they do things authentically costs are associated

  • Ugh - this is ridiculous. Another thing we're getting ripped off for. And then for the company to have the Audacity to say, "we're doing this for the people!" is even more frustrating.

  • Nobody said you are ignorant. On the contrary, they posted this video to show you what the word cheating means. Aka, they sell you the same product, on the same price, but only the size changes. Just think what will happen if you buy food that is 20 grams less. This is where it begins: 7 grams less, and before you know it , you will be left with no food at all. Just think about it.

  • Right now I am producing a video about the shrinking Big Mac, and that is a classic example of how to downsize a product by a huge amount over a long period of time.

    Cleverly disguised by packaging changes.

The Big Mac used to be a great meal, these days it is a joke.

  • @leokimvideo I'm very interested for you to show the Big Mac changes. To me a Big Mac is not a Big Mac, just more bread I thought. Add you as friend on youtube.

  • oh yeah because 7 grams is really going to make a difference to your health, do they think we're completely stupid?

  • Not neccessarily. He can be a thin young man.

  • I stopped buyin them, some places in scotland charge 57p-60p sometimes higher. The companys know that kids and adults will aways buy there product ie a pick me up after work, something to keep the kids quite(we all remember goin to the shop and gettin a sweet for the walk home), or just for a snack. They didn't need to raise the prices or shrink the produce.

  • I imagine that the same thing has happened with the Flake bar as well, can anyone shed any light? Same goes for Drumstick icecreams over the years?

  • Ha, ha, funny. It is only 7 grams difference. Not a big deal. The caloreis stayes the same. I became really fat from eating too much chocolate, so it is not healthy as well. Well , do they sell them at the same price? Because if they do it is called cheating!!!! And this is not fine.

Do you eat many of those mini bars? Well have a nice christmas, and boxing day as well!!! God day kind-heartened people.

  • I've stopped buying them. Simple really. Scum companies don't deserve consumer support.

  • Well put together

  • Well done making this video - good to make it known- Cheers!

  • FUCK YOU MARS!!!

  • I think I will not be buying MARS anything this Easter... for anyone, no profits from me :D

  • are Mars bars sold in America??? if so, where??

  • In the US they`re sold under the name ``milky way``

  • Comment removed

  • Propaganda is the number one product of many 'First World' countries. The guise is always coming at the consumer as either 'healthy' or 'safety' conscious. What is really happening is we are being sold a bunch of lower quality goods, lesser portions or overpriced items that only do one thing...Cost more. If any government was really worried about your safety, you would have free medical care, free transportation and free 'healthy' food distribution outlets. In the end its all marketing hype.

  • and they would ban smoking!

  • Smaller cigarettes for the health conscious smoker.

  • not the milky way!!! that is already so small!!!

  • hahahaha...... *turns into crying*

  • nice vid man

  • What a load of SHIT. The cheeky cunts just want to save money. I can't believe people are eating up this "health benefit" BOLLOCKS!!

  • WOW dude I wish thats what I had said :D

    Nicely Put!

  • Can someone remind Mars that they already produce a smaller bar for the health conscious consumer-ie the Funsize bar?! Cheeky buggers!

  • if some 1 can Reply to this it will be great

Tody I Noticed my Doritoes here in ausralia were only 45Grams And the bag was only like 1/3 Full First pack in like a year but i remember them been alot more maybe around 60? any 1 confirm this?

  • It originated in England in 1932 ?

No wonder my mom loved it so much

    Thanks for the info

BTW: Halloween has been the appropriate time to minimize product for a maximized price

  • If the cost doesn't scale then you can bet this is all about profit maximizing and not anything at all to do with the transparent "health" excuse offered.

  • Lol, sneaky ppl.

  • Well Down here in Australia we have had our Cadbury choclate taken down from 300g packs to 250g packs...AND THEY STILL COST THE SAME FUCKING PRICE!!!

  • and now it's 200g which sux

  • i work at woolies, and i noticed that about 6 monnths ago, i was horrified, they tried to cover it up by wraping them in card paper instead of regular paper! BASTARDS!

  • Its an insult too all Aussie Consumers! it must be stopped!!

  • its blatantly not jus aussie ppl who have 2 put up with this

  • oh of course not, im sorry if i offended its just that in AUS we need our products to ship out better as our ecomomy is doing better than others as our dollar is now worth (at the minute) around 93c per American dollar and as such no one wants to buy our products...man money can piss me off sometimes!

  • You are so right, I have also noticed that the arnotts biscuits are being downsized too. Woolworths are shit greedy bastards just like you said.

  • BTW while we are on the downsize subject...Who here agrees that the current BIG MAC should be renamed NOT-SO BIG MAC!!!??? Bloody hell i remember few years back when you could actually be full after eating just one of them...NOW it seems you have to have a couple to do the trick [no im not a big preson FYI]
