I'm reading this book for the 4th time right now, it's a fantastic book that talks about all of the great people Paul got to meet through his experiences.
Dave was assigned a bandleader by NBC for his 1980 morning show. Dave wasn't terribly impressed by the guy, so when NBC came to him about a 12:30 show in late 1981, Dave insisted on picking the bandleader himself. Problem was, Dave had no idea who he wanted. An NBC executive suggested Paul, since Paul was, by then, no longer with SNL. Dave regularly watched SNL and said "YES! You think he'd do it?" The rest is history.
Shameless... Massive props to Shaffer for his ability to mix mediocre talent with blatant corporate market whoring. C'Grats on your success bro; but more than anything, really, 'grats on having impeccable Bono/Elton-John-style taste when choosing your indoor sunglasses... You wrote a book! You are immortal now! ... An eternal example of how creativity can be consciously denied and exploited for ego gains.

Two points: The first thing I do is click off these videos with ad. The second thing is to NEVER patronize these advertisers.
