Just to clear some things up. Ronald Reagan was president of the Screen Actors Guild for 7 terms in the 40's thru 50's, the most complicated in the Guild's history most notably the McCarthy hearings, the end of the studio system, the gaining popularity of TV & the rise of Communism in China, the Soviet Union & Korea. During this time he was a strong & successful advocate for actor's financial & benefit rights. This gained him & Nancy a lot of friends in the industry.
oy! that was painful! michele lee could have simply said "I got some stuff from the white house dinner the other day" and that was that. she's acting like a child doing Show and Tell.
I know Lucille Ball is a genuine American legend. But I didn't think Michelle Lee was that bad. (she's a little ditzy) Lucille Ball was not exactly known for her charming personality, so I don't think Michelle needed to genuflect. Joan ended the show by calling her the "most wonderful woman in the world" so that should have made her feel good.
Was Michelle, oops one l, Michele coked up on this night? These anti-drug people are always the one's getting coke snorted off their asses. Lucy looked like she wanted to punch her. I could almost feel the audience egging Lucy on.
god Michelle Lee is freakin conceited and arrogant. You aLWAys acknowledge a legend next to you. Even when Richard pryor was stoned out of his mind on johnny carson he still gave honors to legend Bette davis next to him
I wish Joan's show was giving a little longer of a chance. it was very good. She was the first female to host a late night show. Lucy is still funny, here.
I don't remember the details or where I heard it now, but Lucy also had a funny story of how she was invited to the White House during the LBJ Administration, and President Johnson had asked her about some physical comedy bit from one of her shows, and she tried to demonstrate it for him, but ended knocking him down.
5:50 I am fantastic!! whoooo I've been to the Whitehouse - check me out... we ate green beans and onions with sesamie fish sticks... even our farts were special that night !!
WTF!! Living legend Lucille Ball was sitting 3 feet away and all that bitch could talk about was what she stole from the Whitehouse... what a jerk!!
Lucy and Nancy Reagan were friends all the way by to the 1940s when she was an actress. Politics don't have to interfere with friendships. Also, Lucy was not Republican nor democrat. As Desi put it once, "She didn't even know who the mayor of Los Angeles was!".
@JAldridge86 Joan Rivers' show was cancelled because her husband Edgar was the executive producer and Joan refused to fire him as Fox asked her to. She refused and Fox cancelled the show.
@cfronck I've actually learn more of this story since that comment. That is essentially what happened, but FOX kept the show on the air with rotating guest hosts. The main one being Arsenio Hall.
How Camp is that ! Joan Rivers, Michelle Lee and Lucy ball on the one stage together lol !!!

Michele Lee is Jewish and most Jews are smart enough not to vote for a party which is very anti Semitic

I always thought it was funny that Joan Rivers show got canceled and not many people had the Fox network at that time!
trevor40 2 years ago 4
That's true! I always figured she was let go for creative reasons rather than ratings, which there weren't any for FOX then.
