David Chase was basically saying that Tony was not heroic enough to have a heroic ending. He just goes on eating out with his family and spends the rest of his banal life doing what he's always been doing: being a thug. Not that he's not endearing or fun in his own thuggish way - but Chase didn't want to give him an ending that would be a true, heroic tragedy.

This is the ending. I know somebody who was on the set of The Sopranos and this is 99.9% sure this is how it will end. Tony wins the war against Phil and New York. Paulie is dead. The last scene is Tony with Carmela, AJ, and Meadow laughing and having a good time. Dr. Melfi comes through the doors with a gun blows Tony's brains out.

From what I was told this final scene is the one Chase seemed the most interested in and shot the most takes for.

I forgot to mention that Chase shot three different endings and in each ending Tony dies. This ending takes place at the ice cream parlor. Chase spent a lot of money to shoot there and this is the only scene that was shot there. Apparently Dr. Melfi became depressed and believed she helped Tony's criminal enterprise and decided to kill him.

holy shit, can't wait, and to think, people were saying season 6 was a bore, HA! I think Phil is gonna gets his I hope, can't stand him so selfish, hope tony kills him himself, and one other major cast member might die, and in the end Tony loses his power as boss and appoints paulie or silvio (who's gonna pull through) to be boss, or the entire soprano family falls.and Tony and his family end up moving away into from the mob life or into the witness protection.

There is an all-out gang war, and in the end, Tony is left all alone with himself, without Carm, his kids, or even his crew. He is shot in the Meadowlands by Phil's crew, or maybe his own. As he is dying, he hallucinates that all those close to him, even those who have died, are standing around him. Melfi is also observing from behind a tree. A flock of ducks soar overhead, and Tony falls dead in the leaves with a smile.

Ok, here's what I think. Meadow takes Tony's car, which is blown up by Phil, (mistaken identity). This emotionally destroys Tony, and Carmela never forgives him. Tony goes into a fit of rage and personally whacks Phil. He is found out by Phil's crew, who go after him and the surviving members of his crew.

I have a cousin who works on the set and this is how i know. The final scene ends with carmella in the kitchen when she notices something on the floor in the corner she picks it up and it is a piece of jewelry that tony bought her with an incription on the back. the scene then cuts to the pool where 3 ducks land on the water. The End

Inside scoop: Tony hears that phil has decided to make a move on his family in revenge for his brother so tony goes to get them out of there but while he is there phil and his guys show up to kill tony but in the middle of the shoot out the feds arrive to arrest tony on a rico case they have been preparing and also get involved in the shootout 3 feds are killed and paulie is wounded but phil and 5 of his top guys are killed and tony is arrested.
