Trust the Brazillians to take this magical tune and breath fresh air into it. Don't get me wrong I love the traditional versions too - but never have I heard something so soft, sensual and graceful from our synagogue choir. I'm gonna post it on the notice board. G-d bless our rabbi, cantor and choir. Elisete - thankyou and Ron Laor. This was exactly what I was hoping to find.

Thanks for you kind words. I sing a Jewish song because I like the song and because I am an Israeli (From Brazilian origin) and therefore I am a part of the Israeli culture. I don't agree that Israeli musicians don't respect African music and culture. On the contrary, there is a lot of influence of African music in the music scene in Israel. Some of my musician friends actually specialize in African music - Idan Reichel and Yossi Fine are two good examples.
