I remember this advert, but I thought it was eariler than 1985, but cool, I remember when I first heard Phantom of the Opera back in 1990 I thought man, that was the music on the Daley Thompson Lucozade ad back in the 80's!
this is a great video but did it take daily from 8am till 4pm to get back on the track or was it meant to be that lucozade lasts until 4 in the afternoon and the maiden tune just rocked daily was a god of his time
AMAZIIIINNGG!!!!!!!!! I remember this from back in the day as a kid. Tell you somt funny, I always though at 00:28 he had a mouthful of lucozade, and rinsed it around his mouth as he was running, haha!
This advert is my first ever memory - 1985, sitting on the living room floor in Glasgow waiting for "Orm & Cheep" to come on, watching Daley run his twat off for a bottle of Lucozade under a set of traffic lights to "Phantom of the Opera". Changed my life too, oddly. Up the Irons!
Thanks so much for posting this. There's no way I could explain how, in 500 characters, but this advert had a HUGE effect upon my life, since it awakened me to the music of Iron Maiden... and from there, well, let's just say that this track sent one 10 yr old's music tastes flying off at a right angle from where they would otherwise have gone.
superb stuff.... complete with Des Lynam voiceover pay-off! Thanks for uploading

When this was my ringtone on my phone a few people said 'Lucazade advert' to me! They did not know who Iron Maiden were. I have educated them......

I used to jump around as a kid like an idiot when this advert came on... Didn't need the lucozade!
It was years later when I got into Maiden and I regressed when I heard this track again...
This advert was by far my favourite advert as a kid....
Think it would help sway a few youngsters tastes into music if this ad was played now!

This advert single-handedly decided my musical tastes.
Heard it when I was 4 years old. I was impressionable.
They should run this advert again - it's just incredible.

Classic vid, classic Maiden but why oh why did they have to mess with the flavour of the drink!!!

Original flavoured lucozade tho has lost popularity over the years. The fruit flavoured ones are definently more popular now

I also now realise that Daley Thompson is the cause of my having rotten teeth and shit gums.
BTW, is it just me or did Lucozade taste much better in the 80s? More sugary?
