learn aerodynamics people because wind passes around the body thus the rain cant come back in on its self at about 30mph(most prob. wont at lower speeds)but it would be a bit cold....
... if ur driving forward, no matter which way the rain is blowing, then u wouldnt get wet, if u angled an unbrella in front of u and ran in the rain u would still not get wet.
Um yeah you douche turd let's just forget the fact that it doesn't have a freakin back or full sides! But I'm sure that the rain won't come through those giant gaps! Maybe you should spend less time on a computer and more in your special ed class.
wow, someones bein bitchy today, i guess they didnt teach in UR special ed classes that if rains falling down, and ur going forward, the rain doesnt magically curl around the crevice in the back, beat that out in bed retard
Your ignorance honestly amazes me. Your assuming that you are riding forward into the direction of the rain falling but if the rain is to your back then you are screwed. And actually the curling of the rain that you are talking about is called wind blowing rain towards you. You assume that rain fails directly in one direction constantly when it usually sways with wind currents forwards backwards left and right. And by the way the only thing I beat in bed in your mom's hoe ass you bitch.
Ok look I still think that if it rained and you were driving this car you would get wet but regardless of what I think it was unprofessional of me to curse at you and disrespect yo mama. So I am sorry. And I don't care if we have differing opinions or not. I will think what I want you what you want.
if they can keep shrinking microchips etc phones tv etc....
they can shrink the solar cell and increase its output so that even cloudy days can generate a charge. combine that with a hybrid that can run on gas or alcohol....
wake up electric is not the answer combined cycle gasturbine / steam power plant in a hybrid setting is the best option when paired up to a carbon fiber body & steel chasis.(maybe aluminum for lightness .) Carbon fober does not take road shock very well.
Carbon fiber does in fact take shock VERY well. I own the Can-Am team/car in Solar bike rayce. We had a an accident with our car at the last race where the side of our car hit a hay bale at about 25 MPH. The only damage to the car were some cracks in the paint and a broken tie rod. The tie rod is made of steel and the body is made of carbon fiber and kevlar. Carbon fiber is 10X stronger than steel by weight
This conversation is precisely why I believe there is going to be an armed revolution in America. There are two very determined camps vying for the future of this country. I don't see it ending peacibly. Men like me will never allow government to have as much control over the minutia of our lives as Konrad and his ilk would like. I believe it's time for the tree of liberty to be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants...
You'd rather go to civil war and kill all those people who demand discipline for a higher good than give up driving an SUV? I can understand people are annoyed by restrictions which nevertheless have their right purpose for the whole community, but your level of aggression is really insane. Reminds me of this boy who shot his father because the latter wanted him to interrupt playing computer games.
"Demand discipline for a higher good"? Yes sir, Heir Hitler...err...Mr. Marx!
Do you really not see the Marxist/Fascist elements in your position?
So, you think the words of the founding fathers (that's where I got the blood of tyrants and patriots/tree of liberty line) sound like a kid who killed his dad over video games?
Wake up...we're not talking about video games you ignorant little whelp...we're talking about freedom vs. absolute despotism and tyranny!
What's fascist depends on the content. Yes, these words of the founding fathers sound very bloody. Only back then the concern was a much different one. It was about getting free from an empire, about self-government. Ironically today the US has become an empire itself and people elsewhere try to get free from US influence. You mistake liberty with anarchy. The system still contains a government, and clearly there will always be people who don't like what the government decides.
They have the freedom to get public with their opinion and their arguments, to protest, to become political activists. It's perfectly legitimate to have laws against deeds like stealing from your children, ruining the ecosystem and poisoning common goods. So when you think restricting you from driving any vehicle you like deserves a bloody revolution, you're simply wrong. You're on the side which does the harm and even threaten to do more harm if anyone wants to hinder you from doing harm.
Yes, I'd go to war long before I allowed people like you to impose your bleak vision of the future on me. The declaration of Independence makes it perfectly clear that we have a divine right, nay, an obligation to throw off strong handed government.
And it's so much more than the SUV issue...leftists in Washington have been trying to abolish or circumvent the second amendment for longer than I have been alive.
They seek to curtail free speech with sham laws like "the fairness doctrine"...
I didn't say anything against free speech, so don't try to put me in the camp you consider "leftist". The vision I put forward I don't impose on you, I only suggest and explain why I think we urgently should move in this direction. And the vision is far from bleak, it's about a richer world than today. The future will be bleak if we go on just wasting precious resources. My vision is a world where better alternatives are established, where mainstream people actually think beyond tomorrow.
I want to have electric cars and a public transportation system that attractive that most people would prefer this against the personal transportation system we have today anyway. There could be a massive growth of economy if the development would radically steer toward such a concept. My vision is about raising the standard of living, and at the same time making it sustainable.
one word. Bullshit. Mass transit is a loosing propastion period it has allway's needed federal subsidy's even in the largest of citys. How about choice? We still live in a soverieign nation, I'm a setient sovereign citizen. Most people would not prefer to be at the mercy of a massive losing propostion . The economy would sink and living standard would too without choice and ability to do what is necessary when the people choose to do so.We allready live in a sustainable societyare you starving
and levy taxes that the founding fathers would have never suffered (I pay 40+% of my income to big brother before I even see it).
If you think I'm the only one with this particular notion, you're very, very mistaken. I talk to people every day who belive long past time to lock and load...time cleanse the halls of power. They quietly organize themselves, waiting for the spark that ignites the tinder that covers the political landscape...
I know there are other people with your mindset, and I am not surprised that people don't like paying taxes. I would also like to have another financial system where no taxes are necessary because the government could create money instead of letting the FED do it. A system where paying interests would also be a thing of the past. Well, that's another story. But I would never kill anyone for such a revolution. I would never touch a gun to promote my political views.
What the hell are you talking about...governments dont/can't "create" money. Government exist off the backs of those who produce. I'm Ok with this provided the scope and size of government is very limited. And I'm not against paying taxes, I'm only against excessive taxation. No people should have to give the majority of their income to the government (make no mistake, between income, sales, property, and every other tax I'm forced to pay, it is the majority).
Why should government be unable to create money? It already did in the past. And it still does today with coins; only paper and electronic money is created by banks (which aren't objects of public election). There are interesting concepts where taxation the way we know it wouldn't be necessary any longer, where there are contingents of money created each year for different sectors, while the existing money in circulation decays in a compensating manner. Look up Freiwirtschaft at Wikipedia.
It's comming my communist friend...the day quickly commeth...your commie, peacenick friends in washington won't know what hit them. And rank and file marxists like yourself will scurry back into the shadows where you belong.
Come on, it gets silly throwing these "marxist" accusations around. While I think Marx has his points, I really don't consider myself a marxist. You have your concept of the enemy and everyone with political views differing from yours must be a communist, marxist, leftist, whatever. Are you stuck in the 1950s? It's as if I would constantly call you a gun-toting redneck. Calling names certainly doesn't improve the quality of a discussion (or world view).
Wether you consider yourself a Marxist is irrelevant (if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...). I certainly don't think that everybody who disagrees with me is a commuinist, but you speak almost constantly of "the common good", referreing to a collective...this is Marxism by definition.
Call me whatever you want...I'm not an anarchist. I believe, however, that government should have limited powers and a limited role in our lives...you clearly don't.
Not everything based on common good considerations necessarily is marxism. I'd say every government draws its legitimation from deciding for the common good of people. Following your logic every truly democratic government would be marxist.
Calling you a Marxist is not tantamount to calling me a redneck. I have proof of your communistic leanings in the form of your posts on this thread. You, however, have no evidence that I'm a redneck. I have a bachelors degree in Earth Science and a masters degree in Geology and I work for an engineering firm. My wife is an artist for Disney Interactive. The two of us make well into six figures. I was born and raised in an upper middle class suburb of Salt Lake City. How is that redneck?
That's my point: I am not calling you a redneck because I don't think you are one, although some of your comments could be easily taken as a ground for that assumption. Likewise, I'm no marxist.
Pretty cool, looks like the head from the alien monster. $ 4.00 + gas and we'll all be driving electric in one form or another; I say we give it a try. It would be a great city car (on a pretty day).
People who ride SUVs don't really need such a monster car in most cases. They ride them because they think SUVs are kinda hip. Actually they waste energy and pollute like stupid.
waste energy and pollute? they are still vehicles. its the same thing. and actually the majority of suv owners do use them for space and their capabilities. just some who decide to pimp out their rides are the ones who dont use them right.
Well, I truly doubt that most of the SUV users actually need such a heavy vehicle. First, the main purpose of daily work place commuting normally only requires place for one person. Now if they really need much space in their car on a day-to-day basis (otherwise they could rent a bigger vehicle just when it's necessary), there still are many options to ride a much lighter car which still offers plenty of room. The main problem with SUVs is their insane weight.
now THAT is the first out of many complaints ive heard, SUVS are too heavy? normal cars are the ones with weight problems, they're overloaded all the time cause they're made to carry only main seated normal adult passengers(no middle seaters). wich means obeas ppl and extra luggage are not part of the design. this completly compromises their safety features.
You confuse heavy cars with heavy drivers or luggage. And concerning safety: Imagine a country where only e-vehicles like the one in the video were allowed (for cargo there would be trailers available). How many deadly traffic accidents would occur under such circumstances, you'd say? The only safety SUVs offer is safety for the people INSIDE them - opposed to the rest of the world. It's a classic egoist middle-upper class status symbol.
okay now, in country with just these kinds yeah it be great. but face facts who wants to carry a trailer around? These are a little too small. a wreck at high speed or a collision with a cargo hauler would tear these to shreds. all cars are suppose to protect the ppl inside. but tell me a car that offers protection for the outside...anycar...thats right NONE! if i ran into someone with a ford focus theres nothing on the outside for protection. SUVs are the same, there is no difference.
There would be no wrecks at high speed if cars simply could not drive that fast. Also, the lighter they are, the less damage they do to anything they collide with. Travelling with high speed should be limited to trains, of course the train network would have to be improved, but this is the direction we should take, not a resource wasting race tank for everyone.
Come now, you think the ppl are going to let someone take away their speed? besides lighter? if it was raining they would probably start to hydroplane.
The transportation system of the future should ban fast cars from regular open streets and put them on rail-like networks where they could even drive automatically, which offers many possibilities of traffic load optimizations. Acceleration and deceleration could be reduced to a minimum, which saved lots of energy. It would also be extremely comfortable, passengers could concentrate on other things while traveling, which increased time efficiency altogether.
Cars could be small and light then, e-motorized to just drive slowly on open streets (where they gain energy back when braking), and dragged for ultrafast transport latched on the railway. The same railway could also handle unmanned carriers like internet data packets intelligently, which on regular streets also drive slowly and equipped with GPS and proximity sensors. It's not that we wouldn't be technologically advanced enough today for such a system. This is what should be developed now!
Comrade, err, Konrad...how many freedoms do you think people like me (big, strong, smart, assault weapon toting, ammunition stockpiling alpha males) are going to allow people like you to sacrifice on the alter of environmentalism?
Keep pushing your Marxist agenda on us and you'll learn precisely why the founding fathers bequeathed to us the second amendment. The day rapidly approaches that people like me will grow tired and rid ourselves of people like you...
If you think I'm really going to build an armored vehicle and go around selectively flattening hybrids then you're even thicker than you sound.
That said, should people like you insist on pushing your Marxist/Orwellian vision of the future on the rest of us, and should you continue to presume to to tell us what we can and can't drive, how many people we can or can't have in our vehicles, etc. you're going to find out what angry, gun toting, meat eating Alpha males are capable of.
No, I don't think you're going to build an armored vehicle and so on, but somehow there must be a reason for this agressive tone. And what's with this "Marxist/Orwellian" nonsense? Ever heard about laws? Laws by definition restrict your freedom of doing whatever you want. Ideally they do so with a plausible purpose. Do you prefer anarchy? Maybe angry, gun-toting, vegetarian intellectual left elititsts like me would just blow your SUV up, were there no laws... ;)
Laws are necessary to preserve order, but, laws often become tools of tyranny. The founding fathers make it clear that we have an obligation to throw off such government.
I will not allow the government to tell me what , when, where, and with whom I can drive. I will not let the government tell me where to set my thermostat (Calif. proposed installing remote control units in people's thermostats to prevent them from setting them too high or too low).
Let's see, you would give power to big brother to ban my SUV from the city, you would empower big brother to make certain my vehicle was filled to occupancy every time I fired it up, you would have big brother mandate the use of public trasportation, etc...yes, your vision of the future is very Orwellian.
I have at least one variant of just about every modern assault/combat rifle and pistol on earth. I also have body armor and a kevlar battle helmet. I'm the last guy you want to threaten.
I agree, I don't see why car has to be faster than highest street legal speed. It is not logical to make faster cars, or bikes. It is also waste of energy...
Do you think so??? I'm driving every day to work on bicycle, only time I go by bus is when there is more than ~10-15 cm of snow. Rain is nothing. No aquaplaning on schwalbe hurricane at 30km/h. The worst thing I have to drive is not even ice, It is compressed snow with irregular surface. I would like to have 3 wheels sometimes...
As I said, rain (on wet tarmac) is not something I see dangerous. In fact last month I rode nearly every day on wet streets... And to work I have ro ride 10km... and then 10km back. I'm riding 32 years on bicycle(since I had ~3-4 years) and I'm used to ride on warious surfaces, in warious conditions. And I Only hate compressed snow with irregular surface. Compressed snow with smooth surface is OK. On slippery surface you can ride fast as long as you are not trying to steer.
Pietko, "as long as you are not trying to steer" Oh, didn't know you were only talking in a straight line. Yeah, it is when you turn, in the rain, that you have trouble on two wheels.
Well, when I have to steer I must slow down... I have feel of speed and on traction of wheel, I feel when it starts to slip. Therefore I can adjust speed, just fine ;) I do not have any problem with sliping as long there is not snow or ice. And irregular (rough) slippery surface are worst only because I have to short time to adjust the ballance. Therefore my driving have to be adjusted on slippery surface. I do not have to adjust anything on wet surfaces. Wet surface is not dangerous .
Also, other than weight there is still more difference in safety to other traffic participants: The blind angle directly around the SUV. It's hard to see any playing children when unparking, for example. And pollution and resource wasting really shouldn't be taken lightly.
one thing your not mentioning it's my resource to waste I payed for it. it's mine to use as I see fit. when you pay for it then you can dictate how I use it. ;-) democracy means choice not gov dictating how I use what I pay for. ;-)
One thing you're not mentioning is how the prices for goods are made. Let's pretend it would be possible to buy the sun, if someone offers it for sale. Now if someone has enough money to buy it and decides to consume it for whatever, would that be legitimate? Fossil fuels are natural ressources just as the sun is one. The principle is the same: consuming something which modern mankind relies on - should such a thing be accepted just because someone pays for it?
yes in an open & free society. y not? you are foisting your viewpoint on the rest of us which may or not be true. that is not the point. the point is that a very well organized minority should not be able to subvert the rule of majority.
You and the likes are foisting the consequences of your behaviour on the rest of the world and abuse the idea of a free society so you don't even have to care if people critizing this behaviour are right or wrong. You just don't care! Great. People acting like you lead to the downfall of civilization. Sounds exagerrated, but seriously. Worshipping false idols. The automobile, the great ego-extender. It's pathetic.
Looks like a nice little ride, I would be kinda scare to drive that on open streets cause someone might hit you and it doesn't look like it can take a hit. JOEYCRAXMAN 3 years ago
wow, someones bein bitchy today, i guess they didnt teach in UR special ed classes that if rains falling down, and ur going forward, the rain doesnt magically curl around the crevice in the back, beat that out in bed retard
HalfOfInfinity9731 3 years ago
Your ignorance honestly amazes me. Your assuming that you are riding forward into the direction of the rain falling but if the rain is to your back then you are screwed. And actually the curling of the rain that you are talking about is called wind blowing rain towards you. You assume that rain fails directly in one direction constantly when it usually sways with wind currents forwards backwards left and right. And by the way the only thing I beat in bed in your mom's hoe ass you bitch.
JOEYCRAXMAN 3 years ago
Ok look I still think that if it rained and you were driving this car you would get wet but regardless of what I think it was unprofessional of me to curse at you and disrespect yo mama. wake up electric is not the answer combined cycle gasturbine / steam power plant in a hybrid setting is the best option when paired up to a carbon fiber body & steel chasis.(maybe aluminum for lightness .) Carbon fober does not take road shock very well.
circusboy90210 3 years ago

Viva la revolution
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
You'd rather go to civil war and kill all those people who demand discipline for a higher good than give up driving an SUV? I can understand people are annoyed by restrictions which nevertheless have their right purpose for the whole community, but your level of aggression is really insane. Reminds me of this boy who shot his father because the latter wanted him to interrupt playing computer games.
konrad303 3 years ago
"Demand discipline for a higher good"? Yes sir, Heir Hitler...err...Mr. Marx!
Do you really not see the Marxist/Fascist elements in your position?
So, you think the words of the founding fathers (that's where I got the blood of tyrants and patriots/tree of liberty line) sound like a kid who killed his dad over video games?
Wake up...we're not talking about video games you ignorant little whelp...we're talking about freedom vs. absolute despotism and tyranny!
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
What's fascist depends on the content. Yes, these words of the founding fathers sound very bloody. Only back then the concern was a much different one. It was about getting free from an empire, about self-government. Ironically today the US has become an empire itself and people elsewhere try to get free from US influence. You mistake liberty with anarchy. The system still contains a government, and clearly there will always be people who don't like what the government decides.
konrad303 3 years ago
They have the freedom to get public with their opinion and their arguments, to protest, to become political activists. It's perfectly legitimate to have laws against deeds like stealing from your children, ruining the ecosystem and poisoning common goods. So when you think restricting you from driving any vehicle you like deserves a bloody revolution, you're simply wrong. You're on the side which does the harm and even threaten to do more harm if anyone wants to hinder you from doing harm.
konrad303 3 years ago
Yes, I'd go to war long before I allowed people like you to impose your bleak vision of the future on me. The declaration of Independence makes it perfectly clear that we have a divine right, nay, an obligation to throw off strong handed government.
And it's so much more than the SUV issue...leftists in Washington have been trying to abolish or circumvent the second amendment for longer than I have been alive.
They seek to curtail free speech with sham laws like "the fairness doctrine"...
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
I didn't say anything against free speech, so don't try to put me in the camp you consider "leftist". The vision I put forward I don't impose on you, I only suggest and explain why I think we urgently should move in this direction. And the vision is far from bleak, it's about a richer world than today. The future will be bleak if we go on just wasting precious resources. My vision is a world where better alternatives are established, where mainstream people actually think beyond tomorrow.
konrad303 3 years ago
I rather think you would impose your vision on me. You would:
-Make me give up the one vehicle that actually works for my family.
-Tell me how many I have to have in my car.
-Make me take public transportaion.
-Make me rent a car whenever I needed something bigger than the battery powered toy you would let me own.
-intentionally crash our economy and reduce our standard of living to ease your guilty eco-conscience.
And there's much more, But I'm limited to 500characters!
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
I want to have electric cars and a public transportation system that attractive that most people would prefer this against the personal transportation system we have today anyway. There could be a massive growth of economy if the development would radically steer toward such a concept. My vision is about raising the standard of living, and at the same time making it sustainable.
konrad303 3 years ago
one word. Bullshit. Mass transit is a loosing propastion period it has allway's needed federal subsidy's even in the largest of citys. How about choice? We still live in a soverieign nation, I'm a setient sovereign citizen. Most people would not prefer to be at the mercy of a massive losing propostion . The economy would sink and living standard would too without choice and ability to do what is necessary when the people choose to do so.We allready live in a sustainable societyare you starving
circusboy90210 3 years ago
and levy taxes that the founding fathers would have never suffered (I pay 40+% of my income to big brother before I even see it).
If you think I'm the only one with this particular notion, you're very, very mistaken. I talk to people every day who belive long past time to lock and load...time cleanse the halls of power. They quietly organize themselves, waiting for the spark that ignites the tinder that covers the political landscape...
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
I know there are other people with your mindset, and I am not surprised that people don't like paying taxes. I would also like to have another financial system where no taxes are necessary because the government could create money instead of letting the FED do it. A system where paying interests would also be a thing of the past. Well, that's another story. But I would never kill anyone for such a revolution. I would never touch a gun to promote my political views.
konrad303 3 years ago
What the hell are you talking about...governments dont/can't "create" money. Government exist off the backs of those who produce. I'm Ok with this provided the scope and size of government is very limited. And I'm not against paying taxes, I'm only against excessive taxation. No people should have to give the majority of their income to the government (make no mistake, between income, sales, property, and every other tax I'm forced to pay, it is the majority).
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
Why should government be unable to create money? It already did in the past. And it still does today with coins; only paper and electronic money is created by banks (which aren't objects of public election). There are interesting concepts where taxation the way we know it wouldn't be necessary any longer, where there are contingents of money created each year for different sectors, while the existing money in circulation decays in a compensating manner. Look up Freiwirtschaft at Wikipedia.

It's comming my communist friend...the day quickly commeth...your commie, peacenick friends in washington won't know what hit them. And rank and file marxists like yourself will scurry back into the shadows where you belong.
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
Come on, it gets silly throwing these "marxist" accusations around. While I think Marx has his points, I really don't consider myself a marxist. You have your concept of the enemy and everyone with political views differing from yours must be a communist, marxist, leftist, whatever. Are you stuck in the 1950s? It's as if I would constantly call you a gun-toting redneck. Calling names certainly doesn't improve the quality of a discussion (or world view).
konrad303 3 years ago
Wether you consider yourself a Marxist is irrelevant (if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...). I certainly don't think that everybody who disagrees with me is a commuinist, but you speak almost constantly of "the common good", referreing to a collective...this is Marxism by definition.
Call me whatever you want...I'm not an anarchist. I believe, however, that government should have limited powers and a limited role in our lives...you clearly don't.
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
Not everything based on common good considerations necessarily is marxism. I'd say every government draws its legitimation from deciding for the common good of people. Following your logic every truly democratic government would be marxist.
konrad303 3 years ago
Calling you a Marxist is not tantamount to calling me a redneck. I have proof of your communistic leanings in the form of your posts on this thread. You, however, have no evidence that I'm a redneck. I have a bachelors degree in Earth Science and a masters degree in Geology and I work for an engineering firm. My wife is an artist for Disney Interactive. The two of us make well into six figures. I was born and raised in an upper middle class suburb of Salt Lake City. How is that redneck?
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
That's my point: I am not calling you a redneck because I don't think you are one, although some of your comments could be easily taken as a ground for that assumption. Likewise, I'm no marxist.

konrad303 3 years ago
what is it that suvs do that cars & trucks dont? hell suvs are trucks, what problem would be solved?
ulrek54321 3 years ago
People who ride SUVs don't really need such a monster car in most cases. They ride them because they think SUVs are kinda hip. Actually they waste energy and pollute like stupid.
konrad303 3 years ago
waste energy and pollute? they are still vehicles. its the same thing. and actually the majority of suv owners do use them for space and their capabilities. just some who decide to pimp out their rides are the ones who dont use them right.
ulrek54321 3 years ago
Well, I truly doubt that most of the SUV users actually need such a heavy vehicle. First, the main purpose of daily work place commuting normally only requires place for one person. Now if they really need much space in their car on a day-to-day basis (otherwise they could rent a bigger vehicle just when it's necessary), there still are many options to ride a much lighter car which still offers plenty of room. The main problem with SUVs is their insane weight.
konrad303 3 years ago
now THAT is the first out of many complaints ive heard, SUVS are too heavy? normal cars are the ones with weight problems, they're overloaded all the time cause they're made to carry only main seated normal adult passengers(no middle seaters). wich means obeas ppl and extra luggage are not part of the design. this completly compromises their safety features.
ulrek54321 3 years ago
You confuse heavy cars with heavy drivers or luggage. And concerning safety: Imagine a country where only e-vehicles like the one in the video were allowed (for cargo there would be trailers available). How many deadly traffic accidents would occur under such circumstances, you'd say? The only safety SUVs offer is safety for the people INSIDE them - opposed to the rest of the world. It's a classic egoist middle-upper class status symbol.
konrad303 3 years ago
okay now, in country with just these kinds yeah it be great. but face facts who wants to carry a trailer around? These are a little too small. a wreck at high speed or a collision with a cargo hauler would tear these to shreds. all cars are suppose to protect the ppl inside. but tell me a car that offers protection for the outside...anycar...thats right NONE! if i ran into someone with a ford focus theres nothing on the outside for protection. SUVs are the same, there is no difference.
ulrek54321 3 years ago
There would be no wrecks at high speed if cars simply could not drive that fast. Also, the lighter they are, the less damage they do to anything they collide with. Travelling with high speed should be limited to trains, of course the train network would have to be improved, but this is the direction we should take, not a resource wasting race tank for everyone.
konrad303 3 years ago
Come now, you think the ppl are going to let someone take away their speed? besides lighter? if it was raining they would probably start to hydroplane.
ulrek54321 3 years ago
The transportation system of the future should ban fast cars from regular open streets and put them on rail-like networks where they could even drive automatically, which offers many possibilities of traffic load optimizations. Acceleration and deceleration could be reduced to a minimum, which saved lots of energy. It would also be extremely comfortable, passengers could concentrate on other things while traveling, which increased time efficiency altogether.
konrad303 3 years ago
Cars could be small and light then, e-motorized to just drive slowly on open streets (where they gain energy back when braking), and dragged for ultrafast transport latched on the railway. The same railway could also handle unmanned carriers like internet data packets intelligently, which on regular streets also drive slowly and equipped with GPS and proximity sensors. It's not that we wouldn't be technologically advanced enough today for such a system. This is what should be developed now!
konrad303 3 years ago
The YouTube video TiUDLYvNNbo shows a system similar to this which is ready for implementation today.
konrad303 3 years ago
Comrade, err, Konrad...how many freedoms do you think people like me (big, strong, smart, assault weapon toting, ammunition stockpiling alpha males) are going to allow people like you to sacrifice on the alter of environmentalism?
Keep pushing your Marxist agenda on us and you'll learn precisely why the founding fathers bequeathed to us the second amendment. The day rapidly approaches that people like me will grow tired and rid ourselves of people like you...
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
You explained very well who of us both is the more dangerous and destructive character.
konrad303 3 years ago
If you think I'm really going to build an armored vehicle and go around selectively flattening hybrids then you're even thicker than you sound.
That said, should people like you insist on pushing your Marxist/Orwellian vision of the future on the rest of us, and should you continue to presume to to tell us what we can and can't drive, how many people we can or can't have in our vehicles, etc. you're going to find out what angry, gun toting, meat eating Alpha males are capable of.
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
No, I don't think you're going to build an armored vehicle and so on, but somehow there must be a reason for this agressive tone. And what's with this "Marxist/Orwellian" nonsense? Ever heard about laws? Laws by definition restrict your freedom of doing whatever you want. Ideally they do so with a plausible purpose. Do you prefer anarchy? Maybe angry, gun-toting, vegetarian intellectual left elititsts like me would just blow your SUV up, were there no laws... ;)
konrad303 3 years ago
Laws are necessary to preserve order, but, laws often become tools of tyranny. The founding fathers make it clear that we have an obligation to throw off such government.
I will not allow the government to tell me what , when, where, and with whom I can drive. I will not let the government tell me where to set my thermostat (Calif. proposed installing remote control units in people's thermostats to prevent them from setting them too high or too low).
BTW, intellectual leftist=oxymoron
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
Let's see, you would give power to big brother to ban my SUV from the city, you would empower big brother to make certain my vehicle was filled to occupancy every time I fired it up, you would have big brother mandate the use of public trasportation, etc...yes, your vision of the future is very Orwellian.
I have at least one variant of just about every modern assault/combat rifle and pistol on earth. I also have body armor and a kevlar battle helmet. I'm the last guy you want to threaten.
sterlinghowell73 3 years ago
I agree, I don't see why car has to be faster than highest street legal speed. It is not logical to make faster cars, or bikes. It is also waste of energy...
Pietko 2 years ago
try hydroplaning on bicycle... this is similar. it is not possible, it has too narrow wheels for possibility to hydroplane...
Pietko 2 years ago
Pietko, you have never road a bike in the rain then, I have hydroplaned many times on a bike.
ndyt 2 years ago
Do you think so??? I'm driving every day to work on bicycle, only time I go by bus is when there is more than ~10-15 cm of snow. Rain is nothing. No aquaplaning on schwalbe hurricane at 30km/h. The worst thing I have to drive is not even ice, It is compressed snow with irregular surface. I would like to have 3 wheels sometimes...
Pietko 2 years ago
Pietko, two wheels in the rain is always dicey.
ndyt 2 years ago
As I said, rain (on wet tarmac) is not something I see dangerous. In fact last month I rode nearly every day on wet streets... And to work I have ro ride 10km... and then 10km back. I'm riding 32 years on bicycle(since I had ~3-4 years) and I'm used to ride on warious surfaces, in warious conditions. And I Only hate compressed snow with irregular surface. Compressed snow with smooth surface is OK. On slippery surface you can ride fast as long as you are not trying to steer.
Pietko 2 years ago
Pietko, "as long as you are not trying to steer" Oh, didn't know you were only talking in a straight line. Yeah, it is when you turn, in the rain, that you have trouble on two wheels.
ndyt 2 years ago
Well, when I have to steer I must slow down... I have feel of speed and on traction of wheel, I feel when it starts to slip. Therefore I can adjust speed, just fine ;) I do not have any problem with sliping as long there is not snow or ice. And irregular (rough) slippery surface are worst only because I have to short time to adjust the ballance. Therefore my driving have to be adjusted on slippery surface. I do not have to adjust anything on wet surfaces. Wet surface is not dangerous .
Pietko 2 years ago
Also, other than weight there is still more difference in safety to other traffic participants: The blind angle directly around the SUV. It's hard to see any playing children when unparking, for example. And pollution and resource wasting really shouldn't be taken lightly.
konrad303 3 years ago
thats what the rear cameras and proximity alert system are for
ulrek54321 3 years ago
one thing your not mentioning it's my resource to waste I payed for it. it's mine to use as I see fit. when you pay for it then you can dictate how I use it. ;-) democracy means choice not gov dictating how I use what I pay for. ;-)
circusboy90210 3 years ago
One thing you're not mentioning is how the prices for goods are made. Let's pretend it would be possible to buy the sun, if someone offers it for sale. Now if someone has enough money to buy it and decides to consume it for whatever, would that be legitimate? Fossil fuels are natural ressources just as the sun is one. The principle is the same: consuming something which modern mankind relies on - should such a thing be accepted just because someone pays for it?
konrad303 3 years ago
yes in an open & free society. y not? you are foisting your viewpoint on the rest of us which may or not be true. that is not the point. the point is that a very well organized minority should not be able to subvert the rule of majority.
circusboy90210 3 years ago
You and the likes are foisting the consequences of your behaviour on the rest of the world and abuse the idea of a free society so you don't even have to care if people critizing this behaviour are right or wrong.
