I love this video,it's great information! It's true that after three weeks your tastes change.I used to eat cheese and dairy at least 3 times a week.I admit I will always have pizza once in a while, can't stand to lose that forever, but I don't crave dairy all the time now.I can tell it's not something my body wants everyday, so I'm feeling better without it.
Almost all grains have opiate/morphine like stuff in it. I think all grains with gluten. There are some studies that show connection between gluten and psychological diseases like schizophrenia or autism. In fruits are also a lot of sugar. The only food which is maybe not addictive are vegetables and water.
We don't need dairy, meat & added sugar to be happy, I mean there's so many ways of been happy, giving up this stuff ain't much of a challenge. If one finds it difficult, you can still listen to music, fall in love, enjoy sports, exc.
omg...I'm so embarrassed. I was in 20min and loving it & imagining how no one here would like it...& then he said the part about Lubbock, TX...where I am.... :/ Sad but true..You have at least 1 fan here though!
I'm vegetarian BUT I love cheese (well, and chocolate--blush,blush) ! Oh dear! I'll reduce it but not sure I can give it up completely, but I'll try...
@lillyvalleys Everybody can give it up. You're not weaker than all the people who turned vegan, are you? It's just all choice. It's not about 'Can I?' but about 'Do I want to?'. Go luck! I know you can!! <3
He's intelligent, smart, charming, funny, caring. He's a medical doctor. He is that guy your girlfriend or wife would probly choose over you. He's kinda perfect. He makes you become very aware of your personal shortcomings. I will say you are jelly too
Well darling Jess, if your ideas of women is to be trophy wives, there ya go girl, I'd want nothing to do with them, they can skip me any day. And if you still believe in the reality of "perfect" (men or women), I can feel pity for your naivity...drooling over your cherised fantoms. poor thing.
In any case, you are the first to suffer from the poisounous hostility you bear, carrying THAT around, must be hard.
you have definitely lost it there. putting words in my mouth which i never spoken of. you definitely have some emotional baggage to take care of. you sound obese and bitter. forever alone lol
@sugarmelonchewgumbon You've just shown me you are not so different from me honey, the sort of girl men you describe would be wise to stay far far away from, lest you vomit your own self loathing unto them... so tragic...
If eating a kitten every day would get me off my insulin, I'd strongly consider it. I'm vegan because it works. I have no doubt that I am going to reach my goal of losing 120 pounds now that I'm vegan.
My endocrinologist recommended Dr. Barnard's diet to me to treat my diabetes. I was about 120 pounds over weight (morbidly obese). That was about a month ago. I have already lost 20 pounds. My blood glucose numbers have dropped about 40%. You could not make me go back to eating animal products now. I have vegan friends that are motivated by animal rights. I'm vegan because I believe it will save my life.
saturated fat being bad is conventional wisdom which has proven to be erroneous, you can consume organic/unprocessed cheeses, meats (with fat), eggs and whole foods (including nuts and seeds), organic 70%+ dark chocolate plentifully. What's bad for you are trans fats, processed foods like lunch meats, sausages, cheese cakes, candy bars and commercialized pies, sugar, salt, seeds (wheat, corn and rice - whole grain are still bad), try to consume dairy in moderation or not at all (milk and yogurt)
This is a very good video. I don't have to lose weight and a lot of it may be all about my diet, always rather healthy, but I grew up a meat eater, but we never ate very much of it as Mom wanted us to have more fruits and veggies. My favourite food was oatmeal as a child. Many years ago I stopped eating meat, and later switched milk to almond milk (which I now prefer). I have never enjoyed drinking soda pop due to the extreme sweetness and the carbon which gives me uncomfortable gas.
I went Vegan Monday. It's Friday, I'm down 2 lbs. and I feel fantastic.... Ironically, What do I miss most? Cheezy pizza. Sharing this vid with everyone I know.
@kristakubie I did the 21 day Vegan Challenge and lost 18 lbs in 21 days! I waver in my conviction (also due to pizza) Congrats on your accomplishment :)
this guy's message is way too ethical for business-minded corporates in the healthcare industry to care about. if people knew how to take care of themselves and didn't get sick, then the medical industry would be gone...
Holla! Have you ever tried intellectus list building (google it)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work buddy got tons of buying leads added to their list
Antibiotic resistance is caused by the rapid EVOLUTION of bacteria to resist the antibiotic! We definitely evolved. If you believe in God and that He's all powerful, why couldn't he have created man through evolution, but 'pushing' evolution to go in the direction He wanted it to go? Science deals w facts, nothing about evolution or Dr. Barnard's statements is other than a fact. Nutrition courses are sorely lacking, you need to do a lot more reading: Eat To Live and The China Study come to mind.
Next, about evolution. Contrary to the way it's usually stated, it is NOT a Theory! It is a proven law! It should be called the Law of Evolution. There are literally BILLIONS of Facts proving evolution. We have seen it in recent years with birds and lizards changing to smaller forms with difer'nt characteristics when they were isolated on a small island and had different environments to live and survive in than they had originally come from. Also, what do you think causes antibiotic resistance?
@lovebigboobs29 First off, your chosen name does not speak well for you, second, you start off with name calling this doctor who is one of the most respected in the country, and who is quoting Exact Scientific Facts, not his biased opinions. If you look into it, you will find that there are several top researchers who started off as dairy farmers and after getting medical or scientific (Ph.D.) or who became Registered Dieticians, became convinced against their prior conditioning to be vegan.
Wow! I've been vegetarian so far, I'm turning vegan after listening to this man. Not that I didn't know the bases of what he spoke about, just that he makes so much sense. So what, fermented tofu also smells like dirty socks, who needs cheese?!
None of those things are addictive. They taste good is why we consume them just like vegan crap tastes good to you guys. They are also healthy for you well maybe not chocolate and sugar but in moderation is fine. This guy puts the "Dumb" In Dumb Fuck.
@lovebigboobs29 You obviously don't appreciate science and would likely rather have a conspiracy theory over one that's actually falsifiable. He just spelled out the evidence for these foods having addictive properties, are you claiming to know more about nutrition than one of the most respected diabetes researchers in the world?
Does your general scientific knowledge include the theory of evolution or are you so blissfully ignorant that you think humans have been around for ten thousand years?
@lovebigboobs29 I actually seriously doubt you even took the time to watch the video, you probably just heard Dr. Barnard was a vegan, read the video title and left your uneducated comment.
@DrewOnCue Yeah he isn't credible. I have spoken to real nutritionlists and diabeties experts not on the Vegan agenda. Evolution is not real we were created as humans. Vegans are the morons. But to each their own. Also those food items aren't addictive. Bye!
@lovebigboobs29 If you got an enema you could be buried in a match box. I was right, you have the education of a third grader. Now, go back to school and get your g.e.d. so you can at least make minimum wage working at mcdonalds where you can eat their tasty, non-addictive foods while your arteries clog up, insulin resistance rises and you become impotent only to die before you reach the age of 30.
@DrewOnCue ROFL yeah anyways. I have graduated high school as well as going to college as we speak and have taken 2 nutrition courses. I don't eat fast food I make food at home. I am very healthy actually and am 27. Meat doesn't cause diabeties. Anything else?? I didn't say all I ate was meat either I also eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and fiber rich foods.
Today I got in an argument with a morbidly obese woman about the FDA and the importance of regulation when it comes to health. Her concerns had to do with the fast food she eats being safe to eat and the drugs she takes for diabetes being approved. I could cut the hypocrisy with a steak knife if only I had one.
Every documentary I've seen that has to do with the food industry has a bunch of time devoted to how corrupted the fda is and how they pay little attention to actual nutrition science.
Notice how Neal Barnard makes no mention of family-owned local farms which use humane methods of raising and slaughtering animals for food. Part of the agenda of groups such as PCRM and PETA is to equate organic beef/dairy farms with the factory farms. I've come across several PETA operatives who spread lies and disinformation against the Weston Price Foundation as well as Rawesome Foods. PETA and PCRM are nothing other than controlled opposition for the factory-farmed meat/dairy industries.
@petaccfandcspisuck The medical conditions stated are not lies. Meat and dairy whether organic or factory farmed has qualities that are bad for health, like saturated fat. Organic cows have saturated fat too, as do organic chickens. As long as we can profit from their exploitation we don't care about the bad press meat eating gets. Does saturated fat mess with thought processes?
@petaccfandcspisuck Coconut fat is not particularly good or bad. Its better than animal sourced saturated fat, it is certainly different from it and more digestible, but its effects are quite unnecessary. This has no baring on coconut water which is possibly the most hydrating and naturally conductive liquid we can consume. Further research can be done, where one will find few suggestions if any that saturated fat is any good at a all, animal or plant based.
Great speaker, good cause, nice sense of humour. I've been lacto-ovo :D for over 10 years, now I'm going vegan. It's kind of a challenge letting go of mozarella and gorgonzola and so on, but I'll make it! :)
The only way for true health is the Chinese diet system and this consists of meats and herbs etc. I'm sorry but Veganism is nonsense and wrong, I know, I did it for ten years and lost my health for it. Now I'm back on organic free-range meats, fish and eggs with Cod Liver Oil and my health is much better and improving following the Chinese system. No Western doctor or alternative health being comes close to the true knowledge of the Chinese peoples.
@anunnaki2006 1983-84 - 'Animal protein intake was very low, only about 10% of the US intake. Mean serum total cholesterol was 127 mg/dL in rural China versus 203 mg/dL for adults aged 20-74 years in the United States. Coronary artery disease mortality was 16.7-fold greater for US men and 5.6-fold greater for US women than for their Chinese counterparts. . no evidence of a threshold beyond which further benefits did not accrue with increasing proportions of plant-based foods in the diet.' search
@999pearl999 Please do not use the Cholesterol against my knowledge because the information promoted about Cholesterol is utter nonsense. I've been a vegan for ten years just as Pam Killeen was a Vegan and we've both found out the hard way. I know Chinese doctors and none of them agree with the Vegan diet. May I remind you that the Chinese have the ultimate knowledge of true health. They prize Chicken also Duck and for good reason. Different lifestyle in U.S. compared to China for starters.
@anunnaki2006 Unlike me, you're making unsupported claims. 'The most striking results from the analysis were the strong positive associations between increasing consumption of animal fats and ischemic heart disease mortality [death rate ratios (and 95% CIs) for the highest third of intake compared with the lowest third in subjects with no prior disease were 3.29 (1.50, 7.21) for total animal fat, 2.77 (1.25, 6.13) for saturated animal fat, and 3.53 (1.57, 7.96) for dietary cholesterol;' - search
@999pearl999 So my friend why don't you speak of the dangerous of a low intake of Saturated fats? Hows about the low fertility rates and numerous health problems including lack of vitamin D. I've been there and done that and it DOES NOT WORK. You cannot argue with Chinese medicine and Chinese doctors my friend, I'm sorry they have far more knowledge spanning over 6000 years and tried, tested and proven and guess what they love Chicken and Duck all in moderation and BALANCE which is KEY!
@999pearl999 Statistics don't mean anything in the real World, statistics were created to be manipulate in favour of a given idea or agenda. In reality the story is quite different so don't try to use the tunnel vision statistics game by brainwashed people who're luring themselves to bad health and aiding the depopulation. The establishment was a vegan society, the establishment also was 65% of the populace dead by 2050 aka Club of Rome 'Global 2000 Report'. Illness and infertility etc! WAKE UP
@anunnaki2006 Right.. so, scientific research means nothing.. all these academics - except of course those doing research with meat and dairy industry dollars - are collaborating towards a sinister depopulation agenda, and the huge increase in 'meat' consumption in China - traditionally very low, as you need to acknowledge - has nothing /at all/ to do with this: 'Continued double-digit market growth in China will make it the seventh biggest drug market by sales in 2010.' Who's brainwashed, hmm?
@999pearl999 Most of science my friend is a fraud and controlled by The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers along with The Worshipful Company of Mercers. Please do not address me any further. Tribes peoples Worldwide eat meat and drink milk and I assure you their health is far greater than the Western World. Stop demonizing natures foods based on false science and commercial farming and pasteurizing methods etc. China has ate meats for thousands of years, Duck, Chicken and fish especially.
@999pearl999 Again what is goal of The Worshipful Company of Mercers for the global populace in the near future? Its a Vegan diet! When have you ever known anything the powers at be have pushed to be good for the populace? Never! We have documentation, quotes and audio/video proving the depopulation of the the Globe right now. When man ate meat he was stronger, healthier and doing hard work. Now people stop saturated fats they're becoming ill, in-fertile and weak. Use common sense please!

@anunnaki2006 I am. "the Japanese had always managed to do without it, their powers of endurance and their athletic prowess exceeded that of any of the Caucasian races. The Chinese . essentially the same diet . also the Siamese, the Koreans, and most other Oriental peoples. Three-fourths of the world’s population eat so little meat that it cannot be regarded as anything more than an incidental factor in their bill of fare. The countless millions of China, are for the most part flesh-abstainers"
@sekhmut : It's known, and there's even a term for it: "In many developing nations there has been a rapid increase in the incidence of cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, lung cancer and a host of other health disorders concomitant with a rise in economic affluence (Pellett, 1989). .. the more economically privileged urban sectors in these countries suffer from a rising prevalence of chronic degenerative diseases appropriately referred to as 'diseases of misdevelopment' by Dumont (1989)."
@999pearl999 Actually when there was more saturated fat consumption and real animal foods there was very little Heart disease etc. Today its everywhere and thats because of the lack of Saturated fats etc and also the fact that they're using Rapeseed oils etc known to scar and damage the Heart along with Spleen function etc. This is occurring in China also as they consume dangerous vegetable oils etc since the Roman Empire is now infiltrating and destroying their culture like they've done ours
@sekhmut "The nutrition transition has a political history framed by class, cultural and imperial relationships. Animal protein consumption signals rising affluence and emulation of Western diets, both of which are not so much inevitable as the historical product of Western developmentalism (see McMichael, 2000)." - search "China's Meat Association will jointly organize a seminar .. with the World Meat Organization to discuss China's meat development strategy and promotion of meat consumption."
@sekhmut Its the Western lifestyle from constant work to lack of sleep, to moving away from natures sleep/eat patterns to consuming commercial foods, junk foods, GM foods and vegetable oils. Give me a natural Chicken or Duck any day of the week.
@999pearl999 Now we're getting down to it, the problem in the West is not meat, diary consumption it the over consumption and of course the commercially farmed/destroyed foods no longer recognized by the body or harbouring poisons from chemical feeds and vaccines. Chinese eat small portions of meat and know its healing properties such as Duck and Chicken, they do not over consume and use herbs to buffer any negatives such as Hawthorn berry. In the West we're dumbed down and do no understand.
@anunnaki2006 - "small portions"; "herbs to buffer any negatives"; certain animals with 'special healing properties'... Use common sense, as you exhort others to do, anunnaki2006, you're claiming a safe, even healing amount of 'foods' associated with disease. Research, some posted below, clearly indicates that there is no safe, let alone beneficial, amount of 'foods' derived from other animals and that a plant-based 'vegan' diet is healthful, nutritionally adequate, and will prevent disease.
@999pearl999 All I can tell you is that I was a Vegan for ten years and my health went down even though I was doing plenty of other healthy things. I've recently turned back to meats and fish following the Chinese diet system and my health is recovering fast but its going to take an estimated two years for a full recovery I would believe. I now also use Cod Liver Oil etc following the advise of Western Price. So for me I will never do Vegan again I'm sticking to Chinese ways of HEALTH!
@999pearl999 The Japanese consume a lot of fish my friend, an animal product and yes they were healthy until Fukushima where now they'll go down like a sack of lead shortly through radiation poisoning as one third of the land is a dead zone in truth. Japanese also know how to mix foods to get the results and buffer negatives like the Chinese do. They also have an active LIFESTYLE and are close to balance like Chinese unlike in the West.
@999pearl999 My friend all education is controlled and corrupted by The Worshipful Company of Mercers and The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers. You need to understand and research this fact. Did you know the establishment is destroying the meat and dairy industry? They put people like you, vegans on the boards to accept the destruction. If you cannot see the plan then well you're blind in the land of the one eyed Beast. Our nations peoples were stronger/healthier on meat diets.
@999pearl999 The facts are that the future society desired by the vermin controlling us is a vegan populace which is easily proven do your homework. You do not just turn a populace from meat eating to a vegan over night you have to do it over time with brainwashing as we see all day long today. You have to infiltrate the meat industry with vegans to accept future plans. Eventually meat will become the next cigarette as will salt etc etc. Those not following will be priced out from buying.
@anunnaki2006: lol. If a vegan population was wanted, it would already be. Anynym can claim anything about anything and that's why it's so important to support claims properly. '. apo B rose 14% and LDL-C rose 16% on the salmon diet and 17% and 14%, respectively, on the sablefish diet compared with the diet consumed before the study. .. a deleterious rise..' - search. Fish oil can cause side effects including belching, bad breath, heartburn, nausea, loose stools, rash, and nosebleeds. er, nice..
@anunnaki2006: Research and understand that you seem to have a weird obsession with clothing and haberdashery? If you want Conspiracy, try this: '.. the poisoning of America with fast-food chains, so everybody gets heart disease, clogged arteries, so they can go to bypass surgery and further enrich the medical profession, while carrying out their medical inquisition. Isn’t that clear? So not only are they going to kill all of the American people, but they’re going to make billions doing it. ..'
@999pearl999 The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers is no longer about Sewing my friend, do your homework further and look into the colleges they're tied into and the covert education connections they control with The Worshipful Company of Mercers. My friend had a son who was looking at going to a Haberdasher controlled college in London. So don't give me the attitude. I'm through dealing which you, your brainwashed as I once was, thank God I'm free from it and HEALING again!
@anunnaki2006: The brainwashing as we see all day long is advertising and lifestyle programmes, and it's certainly not vegan, and the population certainly isn't healthy, and those crusts are stuffed with yet more subsidised cheese.. not organic broccoli. I'll just add that I don't believe you were ever vegan because veganism is fundamentally a moral position, and comments like "Give me a natural Chicken or Duck any day of the week." gives the impression you have never considered the victims.
@999pearl999 First of all I did Veganism not for brainwashed animals reasons but for what I believed was health reasons, unfortunately I was so wrong and now I have plenty of Chicken and Duck meat along with Chicken eggs and fermented Cod Liver Oil and my health is coming back well along with my strength and endurance. So what does that tell you? I know the medicine properties of Chicken & Duck and this is why I respect those foods highly these days. Learn that cheese is not real cheese today
@anunnaki2006: I'm sure you're saying what quite a few would -like- to hear, but it's still an unsupported claim, and definitely contradicted by real vegans and credible research. 'Dietary Risk Factors for Colon Cancer in a Low-risk Population ... white meat (relative to no white meat intake): RR for 0-1 time/week = 1.55, 95 percent CI 0.97-2.50; RR for 1-4 times/week = 3.37, 95 percent CI 1.60-7.11; and RR for 4+ times/week = 2.74, 95 percent CI 0.37-20.19 variables to higher intake levels..'
@2trey4five : 'Indeed, dietary moderation is a consistent feature of the lives of the superwrinklies. Protein and animal fat typically play a minimal role in their menus. . World Health Organization's aging-research center in Seoul and has spent three years studying the residents of Sunchang. "Low fat content is one of the more crucial keys toward longevity." .. Many cross the century mark, and a few motor on for another 10 years or longer.' (the traditionally virtually 'vegan' Hunza). - search
@2trey4five : ADA - ' appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. .. appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life-cycle including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood and adolescence and for athletes.' teeth - we have molars to mash and grind plant foods to break the cellulose plant cell's walls, releasing nutrients.
its all sound so wonderful but to buy in those health stores he is talking about you need to be mother fucker rich, and most of us dont have the money to live like it
After 5 years of flirting with vegetarianism and veganism, I am ready to take the challenge and go low fat plant-based for 21 days to see what happens. If the animals, environment and my wallet benefit, then so be it, but in all honesty I'm in this for me and my family's health. Thanks for research-based, honest medical advice in the face of commercially influenced and contradictory government health guidelines. I look forward to the day it's commonplace health advice at my local GP's surgery.
This was an absolutely life changing video for me. I'm very thankful and very happy that there actually ARE people outside there who share the same opinion with me. I've been vegetarian for a total of 7 years now but now I'll go vegan. This was the final step to convince me one more time to start a vegan diet. My doctor gave me the advice to consume milk and egg products because I had anemia, but well - screw that, I'm not going to get this affect on my ethical opinion.
@Yakiyuugure Great decision to go vegan, but remember, we do need iron. Quinoa, quinoa, quinoa. Once a day. Combine that with foods rich in vitamin C-- tomatoes, a glass of OJ, etc. Iron + C= maximum absorption. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, which deplete your body of iron. Be mindful of this and you will feel great!
@Frisbeetime thanks a lot for the advices! actually I never drink coffee or drink alcohol :) I've been doing quite good I guess, I used to have migrenes and acne on my back and it all dissapeared ever since I've started the vegan diet 2 months ago! Not a single day with migrene anymore! So I'm a living proof that it works haha
Just because something is "addictive" does not make it bad. Meat being addictive is what i'm particularly referring to as air and water based on this video's ideas are addictive but are good and necessary although sugar is very detrimental cheese somewhat detrimental due to its lactose and casein and chocolate real true cacao beans are perfectly healthy as is organic pastured 100%grassfed meat in moderation so just like you can have too much water you can have too much everything.
They put people on Ornish vs Zone vs Atkins (ornish and zone are close to VEGETARIAN diets) and although the stats improve on all diets, Atkins actually has the HIGHEST improvements.
As a 10-year vegetarian this really confused me. After doing more reading, this evidence is consistent in a lot of studies. Also, I can't advocate veganism any more because of how toxic soy is...
The idea of killing another living being for ones own pleasure (or to avoid pain) is and should be abhorrent to anyone who spends the time to empathize with that living being. We have become accustom to certain activities that in fact result in the death of other beings by shielding ourselves from reality. We have accomplished this by inventing certain terms (hamburger vs. cut-apart bloody-cow in a bun) (abortion vs. baby-killing) and avoiding direct observation of the effect of our behavior.
PEOPLE JUST SHOULD SEE WHERE THEIR FOOD COMES FROM, PERIOD. THEY SHOULD SEE THE FARMS AND THE SLAUGHTER. KARMA IS A BITCH. I'VE SEEN SO MUCH OF MY OLDER AGED FAMILY DIE OF CANCER. SEEMS THERE IS A CONNECTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL TOXINS AND ANIMALS FATS. CANCER IS BIG BUSINESS PROFIT. DRUGS AND HOSPITALS, DOCTORS. KEEP EATING ANIMALS IF IN DOUBT. AT 5'4, 115LBS, OLDER YET NO NO NO ONE BELIEVES MY AGE, CAUSE PEOPLE ARE WHAT THEY EAT AND EXERCISE WITHIN BALANCE IS KEY. LIPISUCTION TAKES LESS EFFORT.
CORRECT, HUMANS ARE FRUGIVORES YET BIG MONEY IS IN BLOOD OF ANIMALS. FOOD ADDICTIONS ARE A BITCH. MEAT IS TOTALLY BAD FOR YOU!! SOME LISTEN AND RESEARCH THIS WHILE OTHERS JUST VOICE THEIR OPINION. SOME SAID FACTS 'CONFIRMED' AND SOME NOT. AMERICA HAS HIGH RATE OF CANCER, ESP COLON , PROSTATE & BREAST. DON'T BUY THE ORGANIC EXCUSE THAT MAKES MEAT OK. WRONG. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. ????SOY ???STERIZATION??? TELL IT TO AISA??? HORMONES IN MEATS/MILK ARE MORE LIKELY TO CAUSE STERILIZATION?? VEGAN BEST.
The fact is that processed food is always gonna be bad, as is the high content of salt we intake. But people need to stop this trend for using plants as some sort of magic cureall. The simple fact is that, not only is a balanced diet more healthy (and purely plants is not balanced) but peoples needs tend to be different, so there is no cureall.
I also love the emotional appeal this guy uses to promote Vegsource.
Thank you. I was written a script and told I'd need to take high blood pressure tablets for the rest of my life and that I was pre-diabetic. I don't know why I put the radio on late one night - however early next morning I found myself on a bus to Sydney to listen to your free talk on Reversing Diabetes. It was the beginning of me making some changes in my diet - juicing, eating more vegetables, cutting out sugar, fried foods & most junk food. I still have to jump in the deep end though.
re: "Your brain does not use protein, its food source is glucose, which is carbohydrate derived." NEWSFLASH !!!!! protein is also converted by the body into glucose...just at a much slower rate...which doesn't spike your insulin response. Just shows how misinformed folks are.
@bloozedaddy Yes people are misinformed and you're a prime example. Unrefined carbs do not spike your insulin response or blood sugar levels and your body only converts protein into glucose if there is insufficient carbs. Converting protein into glucose is energy taxing and excess protein damages the kidneys.
@LordAngus1992 the "high protein causes kidney damage" myth is just that. It originated from studies of people who already had kidney disease. People with normally functioning kidneys have no such problems. More "reverse thinking" from the medical community....the one's who gave us the current "get your diabetes now" diet of high starhes and grains. Everyone agrees that complex carbs are good for you...but that's not what folks are eating in large quantities. Eat the burger..toss the bun.

@bloozedaddy 'Some intestinal bacteria produce harmful substances, such as putrefactive products, toxins and carcinogenic substances. When harmful bacteria dominate in the intestines, essential nutrients are not produced and the level of harmful substances rises. each cow = 1 acre of rain forest , eh? Last I checked here in PA we don't have any rainforest...but you can believe silly axioms like that if you wish. Also....what they typically feed cows you really shouldn't feed a village with...high carb grains which lead directly to diabetes and other disease...probably your "heart disease" also..time will tell. I believe in a balanced diet...but what we have now is very unbalanced...heavily weighted towards grains and starches...it kills people.
@MattHunter2222 an hypothesis now strongly challenged. "Multiple lines of evidence now indicate that the ability to digest large quantities of starch may have been a crucial adaptation in human evolution -- providing the calories needed to grow large, cognitively-sophisticated brains capable of complex language and social cooperation.", ".. Dominy and colleagues have also found evidence that Homo erectus, an early human progenitor, specialized on eating high-starch corms and tubers." (search)
Guys, until you stop eating sugar altogether, you don't realize how addicted you were. I quit eating sugar in middle school and it took a full year to wean off of it. I am actually disgusted by the thought of sugar now.
Energy levels come from state of mind/emotions. Food does play a part, I have been a fruitarian before, so I can testify to the great results. But if you have a healthy emotional system, the role food plays doesnt come close. This is how humans willl move into the next level, not via food, but through spirit.
"frugivores" ? funny stuff. Humans are and have always been omnivores. It's okay to be a vegan...but many are akin to religious zealots....they refuse to question anything outside of their sphere of "faith" lest it prove them wrong.
@bloozedaddy funny how actually the reverse is true as well. many omnivores/carnivores get defense either in their silence or protest when i tell them i am vegan. and they also are mad that i am thin. each cow=acre of rainforest. the material it takes to feed a cow for a year=could feed a village. sewage from cow feces=pollution. people getting rich off meat industry=top 1%. cost of heart disease #1 killer in america=billions in health care costs. cruelty to cows in slaughterhouses=UNSPEAKABLE
Also, maybe those parents are the kind of "vegetarians" who don't eat veggies. Just bc someone declares themselves a veg doesn't mean they know how to eat to keep themselves healthy. But I would argue that meat/dairy eaters are certainly not exempt from that characteristic. My son is a veg, and he is healthy as can be, probably because I'm not a dummy when it comes to nutrients in foods. I would never feed him only soy products. Still, anemia doesn't come from not consuming meat/dairy.
I know a couple that went crazy on a veg diet and fed their daughter lots of soya products including Tofu & Soya Milk. Unfortunately the little one developed leukemia & the doctors told them it was due to the Soya & not feeding her red meat and cows milk which , according to them , would've given her the Iron & Calcium needed. A lot of red meat eaters I know are very strong , energetic & full of life whereas some vegetarians I know seem pretty lethargic or "slow". Just an observation.
@theselector Search "Ascherio, Willett, Rimm, Giovannucci, Stampger. Dietary iron intake and risk of coronary disease among men. Circulation 1994; 89:969-74" and go to first link for info', also watch youtube watch?v=_2VR9W7PJcE Veganism 101: Vegan Nutrition Vs Animal Agriculture Spin. As for doctors...
@theselector How in the world could someone develop leukemia from that? Are you sure you don't mean anemia? Also, doctors, unless they think for themselves & go out of their way to really learn the truth, only know what they are taught from the mainstream, western medicine curriculum at universities & medical schools (which are funded by huge corporations with special interests; think: pharmaceutical companies, big agribusiness, etc.) I wonder about your "observation" too. Many famous (cont'd)
athletes are/have been vegan, and testify to the fact that they've performed noticeably better when they followed a vegan diet. I, myself, have been vegan for six months, and I was a vegetarian for 12 years before that, and I can personally attest to my exponentially-improved health. Humans are not natural meat or dairy (except for our own mother's breastmilk when we're young) consumers. This fact is not only obvious when considering human anatomy & physiology, but also when looking at (cont'd)
the fact that humans who consume meat & dairy are, on average, overwhelmingly the population that gets diseases such as a plethora of types of cancers, diabetes, osteoporosis (actually, by-and-large, comes from eating meat), heart disease, etc. I have never felt "lethargic or slow" as a vegan . . . quite the opposite. I feel light & energetic. (As an aside, when I eat lots of raw veggies, even more so!) Perhaps the vegetarians you have observed aren't eating veggies. (It happens!)
this is a great video that i believe should be shown to high school health classes across the nation. well put together with more than enough information to sway opinions and false believes on meat and dairy!!
Humans are frugivores, not omnivores. We have no evolutionary biological carnivorous (flesh-eating) adaptations at all. Research shows that consuming even small amounts of flesh foods increases the risk of chronic degenerative diseases.
@rabiesman888 The rural Chinese weren't eating grain-fattened cows in the 1970's-80's. 'Diet, lifestyle, and the etiology of coronary artery disease: the Cornell China Study. .. coronary artery disease mortality rates in rural China .. associated with plasma apolipoprotein B .. associated with animal protein intake and the frequency of meat intake.. There was no evidence of a threshold beyond which further benefits did not accrue with increasing proportions of plant-based foods in the diet.'
@999pearl999 sorry im not to familiar with the studys but i heard that they never distished between grass fed or grain fed and wth the china study i heard only casein was used on rats, im not to familair with the animal studys, but from wat research i have done the paleo diet seems to be the best possible diet because we evolved on it, i am currenty in the process of getting onto that diet which is basically no grains or lugumes no dairy no red meats, allowed foods:vegables nuts eggs seafood
@rabiesman888 Animals in rural China were then raised non-intensively, and the consumption of animal flesh was very low. Humans are biological frugivores, not omnivores, regardless, and "animal protein" includes eggs and fish. From two other studies: 'Compared with the nonfish diet, the lean fish diet induced higher plasma total and LDL apolipoprotein (apo) B', and 'consumption of fish with a moderate amounts of n-3 fatty acids may cause a deleterious rise in LDL-C and apo B concentrations'.

The only food which is maybe not addictive are vegetables and water.

randolphhjr 1 month ago 7

AikiDavid7 3 months ago
Next, about evolution. Contrary to the way it's usually stated, it is NOT a Theory! It is a proven law! It should be called the Law of Evolution. There are literally BILLIONS of Facts proving evolution. We have seen it in recent years with birds and lizards changing to smaller forms with difer'nt characteristics when they were isolated on a small island and had different environments to live and survive in than they had originally come from. Also, what do you think causes antibiotic resistance?
AikiDavid7 3 months ago
@lovebigboobs29 First off, your chosen name does not speak well for you, second, you start off with name calling this doctor who is one of the most respected in the country, and who is quoting Exact Scientific Facts, not his biased opinions. If you look into it, you will find that there are several top researchers who started off as dairy farmers and after getting medical or scientific (Ph.D.) or who became Registered Dieticians, became convinced against their prior conditioning to be vegan.
AikiDavid7 3 months ago

This guy puts the "Dumb" In Dumb Fuck.
lovebigboobs29 4 months ago
@lovebigboobs29 You obviously don't appreciate science and would likely rather have a conspiracy theory over one that's actually falsifiable. He just spelled out the evidence for these foods having addictive properties, are you claiming to know more about nutrition than one of the most respected diabetes researchers in the world?
Does your general scientific knowledge include the theory of evolution or are you so blissfully ignorant that you think humans have been around for ten thousand years?
DrewOnCue 3 months ago
@lovebigboobs29 I actually seriously doubt you even took the time to watch the video, you probably just heard Dr. Barnard was a vegan, read the video title and left your uneducated comment.
DrewOnCue 3 months ago 23
@DrewOnCue Yeah he isn't credible. I have spoken to real nutritionlists and diabeties experts not on the Vegan agenda. Evolution is not real we were created as humans. Vegans are the morons. But to each their own. Also those food items aren't addictive. Bye!
lovebigboobs29 3 months ago
@lovebigboobs29 If you got an enema you could be buried in a match box. I was right, you have the education of a third grader. Now, go back to school and get your g.e.d. so you can at least make minimum wage working at mcdonalds where you can eat their tasty, non-addictive foods while your arteries clog up, insulin resistance rises and you become impotent only to die before you reach the age of 30.
DrewOnCue 3 months ago

Does saturated fat mess with thought processes?
veganlotus 4 months ago
@veganlotus Coconut oil has saturated fat as well. Are you saying coconut oil is bad for you?
petaccfandcspisuck 4 months ago
@petaccfandcspisuck Coconut fat is not particularly good or bad. Its better than animal sourced saturated fat, it is certainly different from it and more digestible, but its effects are quite unnecessary. This has no baring on coconut water which is possibly the most hydrating and naturally conductive liquid we can consume. Further research can be done, where one will find few suggestions if any that saturated fat is any good at a all, animal or plant based.

@999pearl999 Statistics don't mean anything in the real World, statistics were created to be manipulate in favour of a given idea or agenda. anunnaki2006 5 months ago

@sekhmut : It's known, and there's even a term for it: "In many developing nations there has been a rapid increase in the incidence of cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, lung cancer and a host of other health disorders concomitant with a rise in economic affluence (Pellett, 1989). .. the more economically privileged urban sectors in these countries suffer from a rising prevalence of chronic degenerative diseases appropriately referred to as 'diseases of misdevelopment' by Dumont (1989)."
999pearl999 5 months ago
@999pearl999 Actually when there was more saturated fat consumption and real animal foods there was very little Heart disease etc. Today its everywhere and thats because of the lack of Saturated fats etc and also the fact that they're using Rapeseed oils etc known to scar and damage the Heart along with Spleen function etc. This is occurring in China also as they consume dangerous vegetable oils etc since the Roman Empire is now infiltrating and destroying their culture like they've done ours
anunnaki2006 5 months ago

Give me a natural Chicken or Duck any day of the week.
anunnaki2006 5 months ago
@999pearl999 Now we're getting down to it, the problem in the West is not meat, diary consumption it the over consumption and of course the commercially farmed/destroyed foods no longer recognized by the body or harbouring poisons from chemical feeds and vaccines. Chinese eat small portions of meat and know its healing properties such as Duck and Chicken, they do not over consume and use herbs to buffer any negatives such as Hawthorn berry. In the West we're dumbed down and do no understand.
anunnaki2006 5 months ago

Yakiyuugure 8 months ago 15
@Yakiyuugure Great decision to go vegan, but remember, we do need iron. Quinoa, quinoa, quinoa. Once a day. Combine that with foods rich in vitamin C-- tomatoes, a glass of OJ, etc. Iron + C= maximum absorption. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, which deplete your body of iron. Be mindful of this and you will feel great!
Frisbeetime 6 months ago

Interesting that he mentions Ornish. In the following video:
youtube.com/watch?v=eREuZEdMAVo&feature=autoshare

Just shows how misinformed folks are.
bloozedaddy 11 months ago
@bloozedaddy Yes people are misinformed and you're a prime example. Unrefined carbs do not spike your insulin response or blood sugar levels and your body only converts protein into glucose if there is insufficient carbs. Converting protein into glucose is energy taxing and excess protein damages the kidneys.
LordAngus1992 11 months ago 3

It's okay to be a vegan...but many are akin to religious zealots....they refuse to question anything outside of their sphere of "faith" lest it prove them wrong.
bloozedaddy 1 year ago

@theselector How in the world could someone develop leukemia from that? Are you sure you don't mean anemia? Also, doctors, unless they think for themselves & go out of their way to really learn the truth, only know what they are taught from the mainstream, western medicine curriculum at universities & medical schools (which are funded by huge corporations with special interests; think: pharmaceutical companies, big agribusiness, etc.) I wonder about your "observation" too. athletes are/have been vegan, and testify to the fact that they've performed noticeably better when they followed a vegan diet. I, myself, have been vegan for six months, and I was a vegetarian for 12 years before that, and I can personally attest to my exponentially-improved health. Humans are not natural meat or dairy (except for our own mother's breastmilk when we're young) consumers. This fact is not only obvious when considering human anatomy & physiology, but also when looking at (cont'd)
wrenbrrd 1 year ago
the fact that humans who consume meat & dairy are, on average, overwhelmingly the population that gets diseases such as a plethora of types of cancers, diabetes, osteoporosis (actually, by-and-large, comes from eating meat), heart disease, etc. I have never felt "lethargic or slow" as a vegan . . . quite the opposite. I feel light & energetic. (As an aside, when I eat lots of raw veggies, even more so!) Perhaps the vegetarians you have observed aren't eating veggies. (It happens!)

999pearl999 1 year ago
@999pearl999 sorry im not to familiar with the studys but i heard that they never distished between grass fed or grain fed and wth the china study i heard only casein was used on rats, im not to familair with the animal studys, but from wat research i have done the paleo diet seems to be the best possible diet because we evolved on it, i am currenty in the process of getting onto that diet which is basically no grains or lugumes no dairy no red meats, allowed foods:vegables nuts eggs seafood
rabiesman888 1 year ago
@rabiesman888 Animals in rural China were then raised non-intensively, and the consumption of animal flesh was very low. Humans are biological frugivores, not omnivores, regardless, and "animal protein" includes eggs and fish. From two other studies: 'Compared with the nonfish diet, the lean fish diet induced higher plasma total and LDL apolipoprotein (apo) B', and 'consumption of fish with a moderate amounts of n-3 fatty acids may cause a deleterious rise in LDL-C and apo B concentrations'.
