  • This song just reeks of AWESOME! One of the driving forces in the metal community today and this video shows why.

  • @ToneArnold fuckin right, this song, oblivion and divination's are the best tracks on crack the skye

  • @liljim82 and the last baron, crack the skye and quintessence, not too sure about ghost of karelia but not too bad \m/

  • The song that started my obsession with this band....Brent and Bill are new heros and influences for me

  • My counterargument to the phrase "there is no good music nowadays".

  • @iamtheburninator

Well put sir and I agree.

  • If these guys & Dethklok collaborated on an album together, there will be no survivors.

  • ORGASM SOLOOOOOOO

  • favourite mastodon song!

  • Directazo

  • Troy Sanders is such an underrated bassist. I fucking love this band.

  • I have been on a mastodon binge for two months and i don't see it stopping lol

  • @rodriquenhozen Ive been on mine for two weeks lol. I say it'll last for at least my lifetime \m/

  • @BxT4POUTxP

if it ever stops let me know and 'll get you a fix lol

  • @dardo420 The whole thing is fucking awesome :P

  • 1:18 Valient Himself is in the backdrop!!!!

  • doonnnt't stayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, runnn awayyyyyyyyyyy

  • The mood sort of reminds me of a few Porcupine Tree songs.

    Loving it.

  • Mind, it is blow.

  • This band is a perfect mix between Metallica and Pink Floyd!

  • I love to bass in this!

  • One of the best live-performances I've seen in a long time! Hope to see them in Birmingham in February!

  • Man they're playing that flawless and this seems kind of faster than the studio version too

  • 3:40 onwards.....EPIC!

  • best refrain ever!!

  • He made sweet love to that guitar.

  • 07:56 fucking epic

  • Nicely put video, thanks for posting!

  • speachless is about right for this whole album. the other albums are just as good, but this one went so deep into progressive and trippy sounds and still turned out a fucking stonking record. very few albums can hold a candle to this stuff.

  • one of the best song i have ever heard..

  • Their vocals are awesome, I don't know what you guys are whining about. They may not be the best, but they make it work amazingly in context with the music.

  • This is as interesting a band to listen to as Gojira... and you need a long attention span, too hahahahahaaaa!!!! >:)

  • 4:55 - 5:31 .......... one of the most legit 36 seconds of the universe

  • @BlackMaidenTallica indeed.. most shining part of the performance

  • They should work to improve the live vocals.

  • @Phabarata1 And I think they did, I saw them this summer, and the vocals were actually pretty good, all over :)

  • @Phabarata1 Listen to their Jools Holland performance.... they have taken your comment on board! haha

  • @Phabarata1 see them live on this tour, the vocals are vastly improved

  • I dont like the voices...

  • Immense. Besides the fact that their technical ability and tightness when playing live is awesome, the sound is so CRISP and CLEAR.

  • Brent stays completely still during that solo, not even a headbang. I would go wild if i had the chance to preform that

  • One person must be a really big fan of Felix Yusupov.

  • @carmillasmasque

Yeah, thats real original and new. Commenting abt dislikes.

  • "......Don't Stay, Run away!"

No sir! I paid good money for my ticket and i'm staying until you finish this here concert.

  • zach galifianakis is their number 1 fan

  • one guy is an idiot

  • Goosebumps every time I listen to this song. It never gets old.

  • Man, this song could go on for at least another 5 minutes and it would still feel too short

  • @yiksnil Learn to spell, then you can comment.

  • @yiksnil SHUT THE FUCK UP NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE!

  • this can not be the live performance.. it is too good for that..

  • I wish these guys would write longer songs like this more often. I

  • The thing i love about this song is that every single riff and part has something to it. Its not just a load of parts thrown together. Its not like there old stuff of constant mindless playing (which was still amazing) God, i love this band!

  • His tone is amazing.

  • In my opinion this is one of the best songs in history ever written, ever.

  • I´m a musicianand if could play a solo in this sing like like Brent does with mastodon I would die happy. XD

  • holy crap starts at... 3:40

  • no dislikes :D

  • GOLD

  • YES YES YES!!!!!!!! I fucking love this band. They are the best band ever period. They have come and now they have come again into your ear pussies. \m/

  • Hands up if you think "Crack The Skye" to be the "Ride The Lighning" of zeros!

  • @CheatingSynergy I would say Ember to Inferno from Trivium is the Ride the Lighting of the 00's but I would definitely say Crack the Skye is about as close as our generation will ever get to Dark Side of the Moon or 2112 from Rush.

  • I love brents solo style, raw, original, bluesy and totally his own.

  • i love this

  • This is what happens when your whole band rocks ass.

  • I love you Mastodon

  • Best song Mastodon has ever created, I think they couldve maybe shortened the intro a little bit, but other than that, its amazing. Best solo ever recorded IMO but you cant even hear it in this version, It seems like Brents guitar is WAY lower in volume than Bills. Which kinda sucks considering thats the most amazing solo ever. Maybe its just the video, i dont know. I wish I seen them in 2009 or later instead of 2008 like i did, then they wouldve played Crack the Skye songs.

  • @TheCorruptionlives you can hear it better on the dvd

  • @veeragandersucks Thats what I figured, the same shit happened with "The Big 4" videos posted on Youtube, you cant hear alot of the guitar parts. Thanks, I'll def. check out the dvd version FOR SURE, thats def. my favourite part of the whole Crack The Skye album and would like to hear it in Live At The Aragon. Does live at the aragon automatically come in like a deluxe version with a c.d? or is there a couple different version of "Live At The Aragon"? if you know

  • @TheCorruptionlives it comes with a cd as well

  • Brent didn't remember quite a large part of the lyrics : /

  • It's amazing to watch their focus.

  • THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME

  • Comment removed

  • Somehow, this song is even BETTER live...

  • this is just a raw, pure slab of Mastodon rock n roll...

  • They're one of my top 5 bands but man, they really got to work on their voices!! : S

  • @SuperAPRoject you need to work on shuttin the fuck up

  • @foramerica122 HAHAAHA ok, ok

  • @SuperAPRoject Work on their voices? their voices are one part of the awesomeness of Mastodon. You just dont get it.

  • @SuperAPRoject He's right, they're not the greatest vocalists ever, that's not hard to tell. But that doesn't mean they're bad vocalists. Their voices are perfect for the music they play and I would much rather have vocals that are a perfect fit compared to one that can sing all different types of music without having that tone or ominous feel Mastodon does currently have. Killer band, amazing song.

  • @Vinzafy Amen bro, that's what i tried to say the 1st time, sorry if I hurt some other mastodon's fans hearts, but I never meant to, I love'em!!

  • The Martyr is quite possibly the greatest piece of music ever.

  • Quite simply, stunning, there is no other word for it!

  • Quite simply stunning, there is no other word for it!

  • Aww man I was hoping to see Brent use his Double Neck for this one :/

  • i personally haven's seen anyone playing guitar so creatively like brent is playing

  • 10 min masterpiece right here. the middle part gets me so fuckin pumped up lol!

  • 4:55 Amazing riff!

  • @HunterHAH oh yeah dood. one of my favorite riffs of all time.

  • Is the guy on keys the same one that did the recordings?

  • @mark3777 I'm not sure, its really hard to tell.

  • @mark3777 actually Troy did the keyboards for the original studio recordings. The guy playing it here is a man by the name of Derek Mitchka

  • oblivion really opened my eyes for this band. Such innovative album havent been seen in years of hard rock.

  • fucking great

  • in my opinion mastodon is the best band in the world since they released leviathan and now the crack the skye!!

  • 2:24 Troy licks the mic

  • this is a masterpiece...

  • it's all about 3:40

  • probably my favorite song on the album.

  • thats right...you already know whats coming

  • I saw them at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany in '09; it was so incredibly amazing, I remember just losing it when they played that second funky part.

  • I like how it says "no description available".. I guess it left him speachless too.

  • @alecdeansavoie The description is in the video title. I figured that was plenty of info for the Mastodon fans. ;-)

  • @goody0033 It should read "No description adequate" imo ;)

  • @alecdeansavoie Thats one of the best comments ive ever seen on a Mastodon song :D

  • Respond to this video... The main difference that seperates Mastodon and tool is that Tool is more spiritual and Mastodon is more mystical themed, i see both bands among others the gods of real music.

  • @xXEPICSXx92x I agree. Tool and Mastodon are two bands that I know will have an immense following after them. You can already see it with Tool for the most part, and I suspect it won't be long until we all look at Mastodon in the same light.

  • I've now decided that Brent Hinds looks like a ginger Santa Clause.

  • @jazzguitarist493 he looks like alan from the "hangover"

  • @turaly0n That too haha

  • I'm so happy the finally have a good quality version of this song live on YouTube, the others are pretty poor.

  • Eargasm beginning at 3:40. Dammit that is such a killer riff!

  • Im waiting for this to arrive in the mail, please come soon

  • Leaving us all to DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • @axlenatore lol its actually "Leave the czar the die" i used to think the same haha

  • @axlenatore leave the czar to die*

  • 3.37 FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ROOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • Best band in the world. In 30 years people will look back at Mastodon like we look back at Led Zep and Sabbath.

  • @xXLoveandBruisesXx I agree. We can only hope that mainstream garbage and "rappers" like Lil Wayne will only taint so many minds. There has to be more sane people like us out there!

  • @xXLoveandBruisesXx I've always kinda felt that way too. They are going in a modern zeppelin direction.

  • @xXLoveandBruisesXx It's kind of funny, Mastodon started out a lot like how Zeppelin did. In the beginning they knew how to do things correctly, but only a special group of people actually listened to them. I'd say they're now on the verge of reaching the point that Zeppelin did in 1969 when they released their landmark album Led Zeppelin II (In this case Crack the Skye) and are bound to become legends at some point in the future. Only time will tell ;)

  • @walabalabingbong in the actual world no band cant match Zep...it was very different back then....its impossible a band sell 300 millions of records now...and despite both bands are my favs Zep had more accesible music if u know what i mean...there's no one in the world who doesnt like stairway to heaven i guess....still Crack the skye is one of the best albums i heard in the last 5 years or so xD

  • @xXLoveandBruisesXx i agree the audience today are going to regret not listening to it and like you said in 30 years people are gonna rediscover them and say whats wrong with that generation

  • really hard songs to perform live with also vocals... these guys are great song writers and musicians. long live mastodon...

  • This is such a killer album. Crack The Skye was the best album of 2009.

  • @cam6389 I totally agree with you, maybe one of the best album ever. I can't stop listen it..is is..epic..completly!

  • @cam6389 *best album ever created

  • @cam6389 along with the Great Misdirect by Between The Buried & Me

  • @cam6389 more like the best album of all time \m/

  • @cam6389 Best album of 2009? U mean best album of all time ?

  • @cam6389 Crack The Skye was the best album of the 2000-2010 decade.

  • @ChaoticaMortis you forget SOAD,but it is surely one of the best...

  • @Photis soad doesnt even compare to this guys

  • @cam6389 Best album of the last decade?

  • @cam6389

maybe the best album of the 2000's
