I am a 15 years old boy and I'm learning guitar, and musical theory. I like Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Progressive Rock, and Progressive Metal/Death... my brother is learning drums, could you guys check my channel and watch my videos of original songs that we made, we are working in this, and we will re-record the song but this time with more instruments, can you check???
speachless is about right for this whole album. the other albums are just as good, but this one went so deep into progressive and trippy sounds and still turned out a fucking stonking record. very few albums can hold a candle to this stuff.
Their vocals are awesome, I don't know what you guys are whining about. They may not be the best, but they make it work amazingly in context with the music.
The thing i love about this song is that every single riff and part has something to it. Its not just a load of parts thrown together. Its not like there old stuff of constant mindless playing (which was still amazing) God, i love this band!
YES YES YES!!!!!!!! I fucking love this band. They are the best band ever period. They have come and now they have come again into your ear pussies. \m/
@CheatingSynergy I would say Ember to Inferno from Trivium is the Ride the Lighting of the 00's but I would definitely say Crack the Skye is about as close as our generation will ever get to Dark Side of the Moon or 2112 from Rush.
Best song Mastodon has ever created, I think they couldve maybe shortened the intro a little bit, but other than that, its amazing. Best solo ever recorded IMO but you cant even hear it in this version, It seems like Brents guitar is WAY lower in volume than Bills. Which kinda sucks considering thats the most amazing solo ever. Maybe its just the video, i dont know. I wish I seen them in 2009 or later instead of 2008 like i did, then they wouldve played Crack the Skye songs.
@veeragandersucks Thats what I figured, the same shit happened with "The Big 4" videos posted on Youtube, you cant hear alot of the guitar parts. Thanks, I'll def. check out the dvd version FOR SURE, thats def. my favourite part of the whole Crack The Skye album and would like to hear it in Live At The Aragon. Does live at the aragon automatically come in like a deluxe version with a c.d? or is there a couple different version of "Live At The Aragon"? if you know
@SuperAPRoject He's right, they're not the greatest vocalists ever, that's not hard to tell. But that doesn't mean they're bad vocalists. Their voices are perfect for the music they play and I would much rather have vocals that are a perfect fit compared to one that can sing all different types of music without having that tone or ominous feel Mastodon does currently have. Killer band, amazing song.
I saw them at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany in '09; it was so incredibly amazing, I remember just losing it when they played that second funky part.
Respond to this video... The main difference that seperates Mastodon and tool is that Tool is more spiritual and Mastodon is more mystical themed, i see both bands among others the gods of real music.
@xXEPICSXx92x I agree. Tool and Mastodon are two bands that I know will have an immense following after them. You can already see it with Tool for the most part, and I suspect it won't be long until we all look at Mastodon in the same light.
@xXLoveandBruisesXx I agree. We can only hope that mainstream garbage and "rappers" like Lil Wayne will only taint so many minds. There has to be more sane people like us out there!
@xXLoveandBruisesXx It's kind of funny, Mastodon started out a lot like how Zeppelin did. In the beginning they knew how to do things correctly, but only a special group of people actually listened to them. I'd say they're now on the verge of reaching the point that Zeppelin did in 1969 when they released their landmark album Led Zeppelin II (In this case Crack the Skye) and are bound to become legends at some point in the future. Only time will tell ;)
@walabalabingbong in the actual world no band cant match Zep...it was very different back then....its impossible a band sell 300 millions of records now...and despite both bands are my favs Zep had more accesible music if u know what i mean...there's no one in the world who doesnt like stairway to heaven i guess....still Crack the skye is one of the best albums i heard in the last 5 years or so xD
@xXLoveandBruisesXx i agree the audience today are going to regret not listening to it and like you said in 30 years people are gonna rediscover them and say whats wrong with that generation
