The subsidy issue is right on. The rest of the world uses real sugar in sodas and candies. We use corn syrup only because we give money to corn producers while taxing sugar imports. When I drink a Mexican coke, made with sugar, it comes in a glass bottle and is like a treat. The only time I drink US coke is when I gulp down 40 oz of it with fast food.
