@Tcostello105 and if ur like me when it comes to thinking i usualy get into trouble or other people get into trouble lol so thinking is a dangerouse job lmao
i wish they would build more HHP-8's, they now know what they did wrong originally and the HHP-8 II's, would be way better and less mechanical problems allowing for these to be used by amtrak especially on the long distance service.
Just get a GPS program (free everywhere online and download it to your smartphone. I have a Blackberry and my program is from Black Star and was free.
I used it last Sunday on my ride to LA and it was fun watching the speed change from 79 up to 83 and see the speed override kick in.
lol, then they soon found out what happens when you stand next to a train in snow while its moving!
Hey, if any train enthusiasts wants to get an accurate speed, you should get a Bushnell Speed Gun. Works very well and would give you a speed reading +/-1MPH. It also does KPH. Better than guessing i would assume!
They are about $80 if you look around the internet.
that locomotive and carriage combo is kinda ugly

About 92 mph based on stop watch timing of front end of first car to rear end of last car (4.4 sec). Each car is 85' long and there are 7 cars.
mobiusstrip74 2 years ago
It's way more then 92. Canton Junction has track good for running 125mph. So must likely 125.
Acela150Kid 2 years ago 9
@mobiusstrip74 can you please tell me how you work that out ?

the sound that makes is awesome. but you'd think that RTC wouldn't put high speed trains down station tracks unless they were making a stop!
