Different game, different country and different continent but this so reminds me of watching Chelsea wrap up their first league title in 50 years in a pub close to the ground, great day, looks like yours was the same, nice one.
As a Red Sox fan I'd be happy for the Cubs if it ever happens to them. I just don't want it to happen under Piniella. After Piniella ever leaves the Cubs, sure.
That was a good chant. I also liked "Who's your dealer?" when Giambi was up. I keep waiting for the Classy Yankees to offer back their '03 Pennant, seeing as Giambi hit 2 HR in game 7 while he was (by admission) on steroids. Ugh.
Just got back from game 7 at the Cask 'n Flagon against the Rays. Not the same party as this. We took them 7 after a great game 5 comeback for the ages...just wasn't meant to be this year...GO SOX!!!
goosebumps. i was at college in new jersey when they won the series, i cannot tell you how amazing it was to celebrate in the heart of yankees country. nothing in sports will ever come close to this postseason. Ever.
Yup. This was the most painful postseason series of my life, bar none. 2007 was also a bad year, but it couldn't hold a candle to this. After all, the Yankees had no say in how far the Red Sox got last year.
As for 2004, I think it's made me a better fan, and better person for living through it. I watched this collapse happen before my very eyes. I vividly remember where I was and what I said right afterward.
A disaster like this helps build character and toughness in the long run.
hi...i'm the idiot that taped this video on my digital cam. i cant tell you how difficult it was to not be jumping around like everyone else during that final out...but i was determined to capture this moment as clearly as possible (i had to start jumpin around and huggin anyone that was near me later in the video).
to everyone that put up with so many yrs without a title..enjoy.
Bro, thanks for putting this online. This was the culmination of what it was all about to be a Sox fan. Celebrating with some friends enjoying the beatdown of the Yankees. It doesn't get much better than that. Best night of my life. T
wow great game,i remeber crying when they won the world series in 2007 because i was soooooo emotional.they won on october 28,2007,the day before my 14th birthday.
any1 who beats the yanks? lol u like a lot of teams, 'cuase any1 cann beat THEM. just give a-rod a 230 million dollar contract and he'll die of shock at such a low price. jeter will commit suicide to be w/ him 4ever lol
My favorite team is simply the Evil Empire's opponent on a given day, period. BTW, I grew up about 20 miles from the Death Star, i.e., The House That $63 Watered-Down "Beers" Built. In a perfect world the Yanks, Patriots, Lakers and Flyers would go winless for 1000 years.
the yankees may be the best team in history, but who gives a damn! right now, the red sox won the division, and were tied for the best record. all yankee fans have to stop living in the past! right now the yankees suck.
WOW - you would have thought they won the World Series. But seeing as how the Yankees beat up the Sox for years, I don't blame Sox fans for living it up when they got their sweet revenge! GO CARDS IN '08!! Yankees and Cubs SUCK!!!
id like to see the sox and whoever canmake it a decent game to watch,,, colorado was pathetic, you have such great series in the ALCS,, then you get to the world series and its no contest
im an oakland a's fan till i die, but i was extremely happy to see the red sox finally overcome the yankees..the fact that they did it in such dramatic fashion made it even better...i just want to know if there were any yankee fans at the bar, cuz if there were that must have sucked..haha
'04 Sox were an excellent team, but, yeah, probably not the best team of all time.
Just for the sake of arguing, I'll say the Boston Celtics are the most successful team in all of sports. When they won their last title (2000), Yankees had won 27% of all World Series in history - as of today, about 25%. In 1986, when the Celtics won their last title, they had won 40% of all NBA championships - as of today, still about 27%. I'm sure there's more to consider, but I just don't like the Yankees.
I'm a Mets fan #1, a Yankee fan #2 (meaning I hate the Red Sox), and as much as I like the Yanks, I gotta say that they did it to themselves. To be up 3-0 & lose 4 games in a row. And they killed em in Game 3. I'm glad A-Rod is gone. Good riddance. I'm not happy about Torre leaving though.
that was the greatest feeling i have ever felt. i remember watching my brother who is yankee fan sitting down with his fucking mouth shut as i celebrated. GO SOX BABY!!
I still can't believe this happened. . . I'm getting choked up just thinking about it. Wow. One of the few times where a sports moment transcends the whole "it's just a game" notion. It will forever be a part of Boston, New England, and RSN's cultural identity. Even if (ahem, WHEN) the Sawx do it again, you will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER see something like this again. . . Be thankful you were alive at this unique moment in history. I know I am every single day. . .
Thats gotta be Riveria Cafe in NYC. It's thee Red Sox's bar in Manhattan. I was down the street at a different place and everybody congregated out front of it after the game was over.
Yeah a couple of my friends were in NYC for that ... the Riviera is a great place. This video was shot in Boston though, right across the street from Fenway.
