  • "Mathematics is to Physics as masturbation is to sex." RPF

  • i dont get u u re not fuckin genius but always acting as speacial people and u ignore this man did the worst bomb in the world...

  • @esraretin how could you be jealous of Feynman for making the bomb, of all things?

  • @racekarl ok go on believing in ur god..jelous? i swear im not jelous please watch feynman when he said i enjoyed the party that nigth at the same time people were dying in hiroshima and watch his face when hes saying this..

  • @esraretin You're pretty hung up on the idea of holding devastating power over peoples' heads. That's all I'm saying. Maybe you should enjoy the main message of the video: to enjoy the learning process.

  • @racekarl people always respect them they even laugh at their bad jokes:)) its embarassing

if i had been there i would have said simply fuck u mr feynman..it may have helped him to remember who he was..he was just a talented man on math nothing more...he made so big mistakes and he relaxed himself with these speeches..-i wont simplify what a speech we all know some can understand some cant wtf is that? its like yes some people re more talented than others so what? a speech on this issue?

  • @esraretin the point is that talent does not exist. everyone is capable of comprehending anything so long as you present the idea to them in a way they can grasp. that's where the problem lies: not in the subject matter, but in its presentation. Feynman himself admitted that theoretical physics is impossibly difficult to grasp. he devised a method for himself to aid his comprehension. now he wants to spread this message: you are capable.

about the bomb: you cannot rewrite history. learn from it

  • @racekarl i like his ideas about education at least i dont feel good when i memorize a formula hes rigth on this ,also like einsteins ideas on education he says even on engineering u should know the where the formula comes from..i didnt like the university for these reasons ..yes u can be righ u cant rewrite it..but i dont know einstein said u can not always trust scientists when the matter is humanbeing..i am angry exaggrated positivism..thats all hawking or this man i see it..

  • @racekarl

Which is clearly bullshit. People are born with different talents and levels of intelligence. Feynman himself said he couldn't carry a tune, and no amount of practise would have changed that.

The thing is, he's a genius, and it's probably hard for him to imagine that physics is hard to grasp for something stupid, or even of average intelligence.

  • @racekarl this video has155000 view but the video has 4500 view..why? people want to believe directly what they want..i show the two side not only one side..also einstein..he believed the one personal god but after atom bomb he said the idea of god comes to me as childish..or i dont believe in personal and punisher god etc..see the two side.......to me saying personal or punisher god cant be exist is really funny..who re u? how could u say this? isnt it a possibility? ..IT COULD BE...

  • watch?v=_ah7f-1M2Sg please watch his face when hes saying people were dying ....i hate people who want to see only what they want

  • feynman's dirac memorial lecture: watch?v=cKzzG5DS6V8

  • I bet he was talking to the religious in the room. "If you wanna believe in fairy tales, go somewhere else, this is real."

  • 8 people need to go somewhere else

  • check out vega.org.uk for better quality videos of the same thing

  • @fluff125 The MAIN reason CO2 gas hugs the ground when you watch dry ice _sublimate_ is because it's colder and denser than the air in the room. Second, CO2 is everywhere and not just on the farmers' feetile fields because of wind and weather.

[I'm troll bait, I know it.]

  • DISCOVERED in the 21st century: The Underlying Law of Nature (i.e., the world's most useful knowledge).

    You decide.

The straightforward, empirical process for identifying the underlying law of nature first hand–i.e., for oneself, was discovered in 2008.

The top 3 General Characteristics of the underlying law of nature:

#1. The Way of All Things

#2. The Basis of All Laws and Principles

#3. The Basis of All Health, Growth, Efficacy and Efficiency

Google it, as a start, if interested.

  • Dr. Feynman would not have fallen for the global warming myth.

  • Mark Benford Lives !

  • This is how evolution and global warming should be explained to science deniers. If you don't like the truth, go lock yourself in a basement, just don't bother the sane population with your superstitious beliefs.

  • @frankystein12 Except for the fact that global warming is based on bullshit science. Evolution is a good theory though, and it is a shame that so many people look away from it. Childish really.

  • @fluff125 "Evolution is a good theory " - I think you need a dictionary; it isn't a *hypothesis*...it is theory.

English is a...complex language, full of nuance, saddled with archaic use cases that the...casually educated seem to miss.

"Theory of" does not mean "Hypothetical"...The Oxford is your friend here :)

Perhaps you meant to say something closer to "Evolution Theory is a great way to explain the observable facts, and it is a shame that so many people look away from it" maybe?

  • @mrkaic Indeed, I said it was a theory, not hypothesis. Theories are never proved absolutely true as I am sure you are aware, a theory is simply our closest approximation of truth. For example, the theory of relativity is known to be erroneous, particularly at the subatomic level, however, it is still referred to as a "theory".

And if I may play the psychologist for a moment, it appears that you are trying to gain a feeling of intellectual superiority over me by nitpicking my word usage.

  • @fluff125

Funny how 97% of climate scientists are in on theory that is based on "bullshit".

Maybe you're the one that's full of shit and will believe any media-fed, right-wing anti-science tripe without doing proper research on your own.

PS. Anthropogenic climate science has a mountain of evidence going for it, like it or not. And if you don't - go live in another universe, where polluting the environment doesn't have consequences. ;)

    Sincerely, a meteorology student.

  • @kekemankek Clap, clap, clap, clap. Well done sir.

  • @fluff125

Anthropogenic climate science? Wups, I meant anthropogenic global warming.

I got so riled up by your ignorance, I didn't have time to check for mistakes in my comment. :P

  • @kekemankek Well I can link you to some good resources if you want to hear the other side of the argument. And you should if you call yourself a scientist.

    /watch?v=FOLkze-9GcI&feature=related

    /watch?v=DbAe_g41Zl4&feature=fvw

I am sorry, but Youtube really cracks down on you if you post links to websites. I can send you a private message if you want to know more.

  • @fluff125

Believe me, I have heard the other side of the argument. Over and over again. And I've researched pretty much every single one of them and come to the conclusion that the skeptic side doesn't have much going for it. Weak stuff, to put it bluntly, compared to the mountains of evidence supporting AGW.

Please visit "skepticalscience" (google it) they have a great list of skeptic arguments and they do a pretty good job of destroying every one of them with logic and empirical evidence.

  • @kekemankek I am sure that there are some shitty sceptic arguments, however, global warming believers have some of the shittiest arguments of them all. I read a couple of arguments on that website of yours, and they explain the concepts in such a way that only a believer could accept them.

The entire tone of the website is snotty and demeaning, and in some cases intentionally fails to recognize the full depth of the skeptical arguments, and is instead content to rip down straw men.

  • @kekemankek Let me leave you with this. First, global warming believers have baaaaaad economics. Holy shit they have bad economics. I think that their reaction to the Freakonomics suggestion proved that

Second, CO2 is heavier than air. If you've ever seen dry ice evaporate you'd know that. CO2 naturally hugs the ground, enriching the plant life of the planet. This is beneficial for nature, and farmers alike, and unless the nutjobs doomsday scenarios occur, the benefit far outweighs the cost

  • @fluff125 Wow, you actually believe there is a conspiracy in the global scientific community regarding global warming? There's a solid consensus there that's only gotten stronger over the last decade. Also, "skeptics", aka paid corporate shills that are absolutely in the minority, cannot muster together an argument strong enough to pass scientific peer review, so they have to make petitions and other political crap like that. Scientists don't dissent with petitions.

  • @EcrossH Scientists don't dissent with petitions - good call. Facts are not something up for public opinion.

  • can somebody tell me please where to find full length lectures of Feynman

  • @TheNasir81 in google search for this: "the vega science trust feynman" i cant send the whole link here cuz youtube wont let me.

  • Feynman is my curse. I grew up in religion, and after hallucinogenics, I had no direction, I wish I had never heard him speak

  • @ezramead what makes you say that? what did he say that made you regret hearing it?

  • The most fundamental question of all: What is The underlying law of nature.

  • i didn't know they had cell phone cameras back then.

  • @goonlagoon LOL, I uploaded this video about 13 years ago. Ran my VCR output to a windows 95 PC card and converted to windows media player. People had only 33kbps, so I sacrificed video quality but kept the sound OK. I'm glad someone uploaded it to youtube, but he copied text I had on a pauling video. There's a better quality version now. There's also a section in this NZ QED lecture with Feynman putting his middle finger to his nose when talking about Spanish Catholics burning mayan books.

  • A genius with a great sense of humor.

  • "You don't like it? Go somewhere else!"

    ~R. Feynman.

    Best quote ever.

  • He was 69 at the time of his death - not 93.

  • This is good stuff! Like Mr. Feynman says, people always want to simplify things because it is psychology pleasing. But the true reality of nature is more complex and counterintuitive than our human minds can ever completely grasp!

  • I think you need a lethal injection.

  • i think he's a pretty good looking guy... now you on the other hand, I can not say that about. Why would you even say this? He is a genius. And he's a super chill and stand up guy.

  • @TheSunmanho You need to be gassed.

  • 2 billion people will start a war just because you died?

    hmmmm.... i dont thinkso

  • @TheSunmanho Guess what, they will also be gassed (not that I think they would really care about you, but just to give you a warm feeling)

  • Hey, look at this quote:

"Thy Name is my healing O my God, and rememberence of Thee is my remedy. Nearness to Thee is my hope, and love for Thee is my companion. Thy mercy to me is my healing and my succor, in both this world and the world to come. Thou verily art the All-Bountifull, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise."

    ~Baha'u'llah

I hope it makes you feel better. Earlier I squashed a worm because I was upset so I kinda know how ye feel.

  • It is true time is intertwined with Einstein curvature of spacetime therefore has symmetry and geometry. But we have the Arrow of Time because time only moves one way. In Quantum Atom Theory the mathematical infinities of QED represents the infinity of the time continuum as a physical continuous process.

  • Nice Video!

But could it be that Time has symmetry and geometry? This would explain the infinities of QED. Newton believed Time was a thing in itself and connected to motion and Einstein believed there was something missing from quantum mechanics. In my video The Paradox of Schrodingers Cat an artist view it is Time that is the Hidden Variable.

  • @nickharvey7 : Isn't it already agreed that time has symmetry and geometry? I mean the physical laws work equally well with both flows of time, forward and back.. is that not a symmetry? And time is obviously intertwined with space and hence posses geometry.. and how do you believe this is related to infinities in QED? Just curious.

  • I thought that he died at 80, not 93 ?

  • Feynman died on February 15, 1988 at the age of 69.

  • that was the exact day and year i was born...also galileos birthday

  • The description is talking about chemist Linus Pauling's death. Not Feyman's.

  • I hate to point this out, but the Chief looks a little bit like Julio Iglesias on this vid... hehe!

  • he sure does! :D

  • path integral formulation to name one.

Scientists all stand on the shoulder of giants. He advanced it further.

  • ROFL, check your physics history... He was instrumental in giving QCD its current form -- among many other things. Feynman didnt start when he was an old man, he was involved in the manhattan project and after that he spent decades helping to formulate quantum mechanics into its "advanced stage" -- still not too advanced, mind you. there are still many problems yet to be solved, so i'd appreciate it if you didn't belittle the scientists who today seek to advance QM/physics in general further

  • Actually Feynman had very little to do with non-Abelian gauge theory (spontaneously broken Yang-Mills symmetry) and so had almost no part in constructing QCD. This isn't a criticism, just a fact.

  • And a very uninformed opinion it is.

  • I'm not quite sure what your beef with Feynman is but you're certainly acting like a bit of a tool; spamming idiotic comments on a number of Feynman clips for no apparent reason (other than perhaps trolling - or maybe you really are as challenged as you seem).

If you think Feynman didn't contribute anything to this field, you're a freakin' moron.

  • OMG I love this man!!!!!

  • He was a great man

  • Has anyone here heard of the Feynman radio?

  • Yeah a little. Retarded waves as shown on Feynman Diagrams?

  • he died at 71 not 93. Change the info

  • At 69 and 9 months

  • Change the info... it's not Linus Pauling, it's Richard Feynman!!!!!!

    Get it right!

  • I remember they re played this whole series at Auckland university physics during 1995 while I was there and told us it was recoded there too! Cool post

  • its too bad that we dont have the brain processing power of feynman, but that problem will be solved pretty soon in the future.

  • What have u done to the audio?? It looks false and not his original voice.

  • Oh, it's him, all right.

  • No doubt its him.. these are all his words.. but may be the sound in the clip is not clear enuf to reveal his voice...

  • Yes. It's the encoding. You can find more of him on Google Video (The Last Journey of a Genius) and the Vega Science Lecture series.

  • The audio of the video is desynched. That means that it is not in line with the moving picture, and is either slightly slower or slightly faster (or a lot, depending on the encoding, LOL)

  • Wonderful.

  • This guy has swagger

  • Feynman was a very attractive character in all sorts of ways....his sense of fun was infectious.

  • "If you don't like it, go somewhere else, to another universe where the rules are simpler" ...the coolest thing he ever said, still applies today !

  • It's been applied long before Feynman said it, long before the dawn of man. It will continue to be applicable long after we retain back to our atomic form when the Universe turns cold, when refering to ourselves as "dust" will be an overstatement.

Also I like pork chops. Lots guys, I love em.

  • Good comment my brother !

    Ps. where do I send the pork-chops = P

  • "If you don't like it, go somewhere else, to another universe where the rules are simpler"

    LMFAO

RIP Dr. Feynman. You were a brilliant physicist and your inspiration lives on.

  • Too young. My dad will be 69 next year. :*(

I would have loved to have been at one of his lectures, they were supposedly terrific to be at.

Are there any complete lectures of him on the internet?

  • get the 'audio book version' of "6 Easy Pieces"

    He reads it himself !!

  • You mean he lectures.

I have the "Six Not So Easy Pieces"

    I'm loving it.

  • If you search at google with keywords "vega" and "feynman" you'll find the source of this clip. Actually there's 4 whole lectures 70-90 minutes á piece (free to view). This particular clip is taken from the first lecture, occurs after about 20 minutes if. Enjoy.

  • for Feynman lectures, google: project tuva microsoft

Bill Gates bought the rights to some of his lectures and put them on the internet for free. Hope you are still interested a year later!

  • Wow, invaluable video, it gives us the chance to see his lectures.

  • OK ////./

  • brilliant man Richard -- what a loss ....

  • Richard Phillips Feynman (May 11, 1918 -- February 15, 1988)

    >>> He was about 70 when passed away.

  • born in new york but richard speak too clear

  • I love reading his books, even though he died 20 years before I was born.

  • that would make you about 3 months old you dumbass

  • Lol

  • No it wouldn't make him three months old. Feynman died years ago...at least 20 years ago. And he wasn't 93 either when he died....he was closer to 63

  • He was 69 when he died you assholes get it right. BY the way Baexire you are a fuckin idiot to say he died 20 years before you were born. you people need to practice 2nd grade math

  • I don't think that saying the man was closer to 63 than 93 when he died, qualifies me as an 'asshole' do you?

Best wishes and I hope your heart lasts longer than your patience.

  • Why not? Mr. spongetrick8.

  • and already typing...amazing!

  • feynman was a brilliant physicist, he had a more simpler approach to science and he made physics easy to those who find it hard, i still enjoy beautiful lectures, i sometimes wish i was among his audiance in the lecture hall, we surely miss him

  • Linus pauling died at age 93

  • feynman died aged 69, not 93!!

  • 69 93 145 ... Feynman died and he is in another Universe.But great men don't die.

  • it reminds me of the song: "Old rabbits die, all rabbits die hard", it was in the Alfie movie

  • tities

  • Titles not tities .

If you don't like it, go somewhere else. In another Universe.

  • bye bye

  • QED.

  • Great man!

  • "You don't like it, go somewhere else, to another universe perhaps, where the rules are simpler"

reminds me of Sam Harris's argument against

"I need God, I couldn't live in a universe without God"

    using

"I need a fridge-sized diamond which I believe to be in my backyard, I couldn't live in a universe without my diamond".

    It's cool anyway :-)

  • It's awesome that you mentioned Sam Harris in comparison with Richard Feynman. I happen to respect them both greatly!

  • I respect Popeye

  • Wow, invaluable video, it gives us the chance to see his lectures. Thanks a lot for posting this!

  • you have to go to the vega science trust fund. there you'll see the whole lecture.

  • he died at age 69, not 93

  • Same shit really.

  • That was about Linus Pauling, not Feynman.

  • i wish they posted the whole lectures on you tube, you gotta really be patient to download them with real player

  • SURELY YOU'RE JOKING MR FEYNMAN?

  • Thanks.

  • Rare gem. Thanks!
