theravada buddhism is a sect of fundamentalism.. similar to church of christ in christianity or any fundamental teaching which feel theres is the "only way" Buddha had basic teachings but the language and customs of each culture add wonderful texture to the living dharma.. om mani padme hum.. there is no "one way" there is only the "way"
