  • この船の行く末が悲しい・・。

  • whats the name of this song?

  • @oneal36701

Name of song is " Love and not the lesson " by paul mc laney and Module on the album " Remarkable Engines " !! coolest song for the coolest boat and people I have ever met !

  • the boat will participate in the anti whaling campaign this year and it is awesome looks very cool!

  • hahaha kidding 40kt what?

    44 tk

    v=lg7DHI61BbU&feature=related

  • Fuck OZ

  • nice boat

  • Great Boat, great trip, great accomplishment.

Burning the world's food supply for fuel while we have starving children and pleanty of fossil fuels BAD IDEA. Driving the cost of food up BAD IDEA. Spend the energy trying to get better fuel economy not buring food.

Great Boat, great trip, great accomplishment.

  • any idea wher is can get this song from

  • His name is Module, based in New Zealand.

He's an absolute star - wrote a song especially for Earthrace. Google him...

  • nice edit !

  • i saw this boat in manly today!

  • i saw this in the african desert =O

  • wow. x

  • i saw that boat in Oslo 2007!

  • I saw this a few weeks ago in padstow, cornwall its amazing! it really is a one off boat

  • Saw this in Brixham,Uk last week...it's sweet

  • anyone knows the name of the song in the background?

  • You can find in an earlier comment.

    Otherwise:

The name of the song is 'Love and not the lesson' by a band from New Zealand called 'Module'.

  • this is neither the fastest or coolest boat in the world. Idec 2 holds the record for the circumnavigation. 57 days

  • Earthrace is a powerboat and is the fastest powerboat to circumnavigate the globe. Congrats on the 57 days though to IDEC II!

  • i saw this boat yesterday in Grebbestad, Sweden, was fucking ace! Got some nice photos of it aswell!

  • and in the end it will help drive grain prices higher and higher, just as supply and demand has driven the price of diesel through the roof (diesel is a byproduct of gasoline and is not as mass produced)

But i agree, its a step in the right direction in terms of lowering emissions...but its not quite the answer for the mass market.

  • You realy need to do some reserch. Have you ever made any biodiesel? I have, at home and for azalia Bioenergy. I get 500 gal. of fuel for 500 gal. of oil. It all depends on the desighn of the reactor and the stageing of the chemicals.

As far as crops.. maybe the government should not pay farmers to not grow crops and make them work to produce. there are plenty fields out there not growing anything. Let the free market work. and no more subsidizing.

Biodiesel is soot free and 52% less carbons

  • Biodiesel can be made from used cooking oil and therefore its recycled.

Good stuff. My previous comment was for jbuck7777

  • How much fuel does X amount of used oil produce.

Even with used cooking oil, it circles back to the farmer and his crop...Ethanol and BioDiesel, if taken to mainstream, will not solve our problems. The demand for the crop to produce the future fuels will be to great, add to that the recent natural disasters destroying early crop in the mid US. And climate changes that are already starting to affect the growing process of our crops, resulting in lower yield and a slower growing...not the answer.

  • what is earthrace?

  • PLEASE does anyone know the title and or artist of the music used in this Earthrace Sponsorship Video??? TY, -j

  • Its by Module and the album is called 'Remarkable Engines'

  • Earthfriendly/Biofuel: Epic Fail

    Cool boat: FTW

  • biodiesel = high food prices, starvation.. etc. .. big fail

  • yes all biofuels suck!

  • nice Boat!

  • Pity it has music the original without would have been better

  • Nuclear break down of water to produce hydrogen and other by products. Hydrogen for fuel produces water. Believe it! Electric power, storing electricity in huge batteries using DC and converting to AC for transmission. Store electric at home to be used to fill up your car and run your home. Believe it, two days before everyone dies of starvation, the problem will be solved. Only you won't care!

  • I see this ship and It's incredible

  • biodiesel is expensive, inefective and the production crates a lot of pollution

  • who cares if it cost more to make its about changing they way we think and creating awarness for alternative fuels, if we keep going the way we are earth is fukd.....unless you are going too go out and do something any better than they have i say you may as well bite your tounge off mate, and stop leaving such a pointless comment...

  • You are both rude and wrong.

The production of biofuels creates MORE pollution than normal fuels. Also it is partly responsible for the worldwide raise in food prices - thats great for 3rd world countries. Even the EU (who funds such programmes) has realized that.

So please don't try this hippie propaganda on me.

    Have a nice day.

  • ive read up on this theroy from the latest research from Renton Righelato of the World Land Trust and Dominick Spracklen of the University of Leeds which was been published in the journal Science this is the only research done in this area concludes that biofuel could result in the release of more carbon dioxide that fossil fuels in the future the analysis is based on the prediction that demand for biofuel will lead to increased deforestation of tropical rainforests,

  • this results in an immediate release of carbon emissions, The report argues that these emissions when added to further emissions associated with harvesting, biofuel conversion and transport ensures that biofuels are significantly more polluting than the fossil fuels they are designed to replace.... there reseach is all based about the future and is just a warning to what effects bio fuel may have

  • You are absolutely correct. The energy required to produce BioFuels is much greater then that of regular fuel-thus leading to more pollution. The land required to make it sustainable is insanity. And its driving up food prices...look at bread, its insane.

Everyone looks at the emissions from a vehicle running Biofuel and sees that it less pollution then regular gas. But they dont realize how much it took to manufacture that fuel. From field, to refining, to transport and finally to you.

  • you may be talking about Ethanol but you may want to do your reserch on Biodiesel. Because you wrong.

  • I want it

  • Cool!

    What's the music in video?

    I like it.

  • can give a direct link to this song :)

    please )))

  • racing against who? it will be better "goiung around"...

It it true about the huge Kites for cargo ships, but it has its difficulties.

  • im assuming it's a race for the world record!

  • They just had this boat on the news, and said that the owner actually had some of his own body fat turned into bio fuel for this thing, and I guess some other people have as well...

  • oh! right! we can destroy all planet cutting down trees in order to make biodiesel, just to not build new service stations...

  • Does the fact that Biodiesel produces 50-70% more NoX than regular diesel bother anybody but me?

  • So...they had mechanical problems....then they ran into a fishing boat and killed a guy....then they cracked open the boat like an egg and quit.

I guess that means biodiesel is not a good idea.

  • Biodiesel is like Social Security. One worker can't support one recipient. Cargo ships burn "bunker fuel" which is the nastiest of stuff burned. A single cargo ship would need all of the left over french fry oil worldwide. And hippies everywhere would have to go elsewhere for free stuff. Why not cut to the chase and burn hemp seed oil in that boat?

  • I'm highly cynical of this venture. Looks like a good excuse for some people to enjoy a nice sailing holiday and expand their egos.

    Ever heard of wind power?

  • You should watch the story from the beginning and see what pete and his family have sacrificed for this boat to be built and the countless volunteers who have given their time for free. I think you've missed the whole point bio diesel is a environmentally friendly replacement to std diesel. You can not put sails on a container ship.

  • in fact there is research being done on putting huge kites on cargo ships to assist the engines.

earthrace may be a bit more about building a wild-looking boat and setting a record than saving the environment but people like these are where technological innovations come from, and it can only help to show people that green does not mean slow.

  • yeh lol i agree, no real point to it.

  • I just saw it pulling in on the Dublin liffey.

Arrival in Dublin Ireland 16:45 27-09-2007.

  • It looks a bit like the space shuttle from the original planet of the apes.

  • Very nice and important project - how much Biodiesel will be burned ? It cold be done fo 10% by using the Biodiesel to power a generator, to re-load batteries to drive two 20 kw electric motors from SG-Germany ... visit all the remote Islads - produce drinking-water and move on ... to promote renewable resources .... !! Good luck !! Bildbank

but all in all a very interesting

  • I would have been more impressed if it was able to outperform the top sailboats.

  • It can in no wind

  • Awesome video, cool song.

  • Yes, I'd also like to know the name of that song as well - it's goes with the video really well

  • well what is it please.

  • The name of the song is 'Love and not the lesson' by a band from New Zealand called 'Module'. The rest of their music is amazing and will definately be used on the next couple of blogs to come.

  • many thanks will look them up. meet the crew here in cork couple of weeks ago and had a look around the boat pretty cool. thanks again

  • What´s the name of that song?

  • Could I purchase one? Now? Cash? I'm loving it.

  • Gryflyn-Your emails and messages don't make sense. Maybe you're on some other plane of existence and only check in here every now and again. If I read you correct your saying we should move on to Tesla technology? Kind of pull the energy out of the either?

If your just moaning about using electricity I don't get where the power to make the electricity comes from.

  • Great video!!!

  • Awesome video! Fantastic adventure! Plant the deserts with oil producing crops which will bring rainfall and improve the world's climate.

  • How is bio diesel destroying topsoil, peat, and rainforrests????

  • --How is bio diesel destroying topsoil, peat, and rainforrests????--

Easy. By taking vegetable oil off of the food market, it has to be grown elsewhere. Vegetable oil is a fungible market commodity.

That means that you end up getting more and more Vegetable oil grown where it's cheapest, i.e. rainforrest areas.

    Brazil:Soy, Malaysia/Indonesia:Palm Oil

    greyfalcon. net/ soy

    greyfalcon. net/ soy2

    greyfalcon. net/ palmoil

The forrest and peat is destroyed to make way for the farms

  • Soybean erodes topsoil over 50x faster than it can form.

    greyfalcon. net/ peaksoil

That said, even growing biodiesel in the US has serious climate implications.

    greyfalcon. net/ lcarough5.png

If you ignore land use and fertilizer emmisions, it looks great. If you don't ignore them, it looks like a nightmare.

Thats why the USDA ignores them.

  • So.. you're saying we should keep using Petrodiesel ?

    No solution is perfect.

Soybean oil ISN'T THE ONLY SOURCE OF BIODIESEL!!!

    Do your homework!!!!

So how is enough soybean oil to make a difference going to be spilled on the ground and "erode soil" during normal use"?

    Isn't erosion caused by water........

  • Erosion is caused by monocropping.

Furthermore, the only commercially viable options for biodiesel are currently

    1. Soy

    2. Rapeseed (Aka Canola)

    3. Palm Oil

What happens is by pulling vegetable oil off the market, they are effectively creating an artificial supply shortage of vegetable oil.

Thus that demand is being met elsehow.

I guess dogbert was right, most people just don't understand the concept of fungibility.

    greyfalcon. net/ dilbert2.png

  • That said. The best solution is that we should use electricity.

And yes, while we are getting there, wean ourselves off petroleum.

  • Yes electricity is a good solution except that requires powerplants.......

Bio diesel can also be made from alge and fat, so two more for your list.

    en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Biodiesel

I don't think erosion is the word you are looking for.

you want to talk fungibility? Examine the ethanol nightmare.

  • Heh, they are both nightmares. Soil is soil. Fertilizer is fertilizer. Rainforrests are rainforrests. greyfalcon. net/ peaksoil Fat isn't at all sustainable, since it's "grown" using digested vegetables. It's also largely a market food commodity. Algae *might* be sustainable. However, there are some inherient limitations to that as well. greyfalcon. net/ algae greyfalcon. net/ algae2 greyfalcon. net/ algae3 One of them being photosynthesis itself. greyfalcon. net/ sugarsolar
  • The question being, what is "renewable"

Under a lax interpretation Oil is also renewable.

The difference being, if you are using up a resource faster than it can be recreated then it is no longer Renewable.

In that respect, if BioDiesel is destroying topsoil, peat, and rainforrests faster than they can be recreated, how is BioDiesel "Renewable" ?

  • Under a lax interpretation your comment would be intelligible. Biodiesel is made from planted crops, not harvesting rainforest.

Please stop posting where people are doing good things without understanding what you are talking about. You are like a child Donny walking into the room...

  • Ignorance is bliss, huh?
