@bassistmau You'd think 3 years after this video was made that System 573 Digital / Solo [DDR 3rd to Extreme, including Solo Bass and Solo 2k] would have been worked on more than it has. 573 Analog [1st, 2nd, BOCD, and any other DDR games I may have missed] work perfectly on a fast computer [my Macbook Pro being one example], but dammit, I've wanted to run DDRMAX2 ever since the one decent location near me "upgraded" it to Extreme, then to a wierd but awesome Stepmania machine.

@25FreakOuts Sound emulation doesn't work for System 573 Digital / Solo games [3rd Mix to Extreme, with Solo Bass and Solo 2k and everything in between], and as a result, no arrows [due to how the DDR games themselves are programmed]. The groundwork seemed to have been laid out partially in terms of getting that working, but I haven't seen anything from anybody about it in some time [months].

DDR 1st mix, 2nd mix, Dancing Stage, Dancing Stage feat True Kiss Destination, DDR Best of Cool Dancers [a tournament DDR mix that used 1st / 2nd mix IIRC] are the only ones to my knowledge, there probably is 1 or 2 more that I forgot.

@travelsonic The only thing I like to play DDRMAX2 is because of the background videos from any DDR songs. I like to find out about the video being play on any DDR Songs. On my channel I got DDR Videos with Background Movies.

@25FreakOuts Rumors on one forum another existed for a short while that there was a "hack" for System 573 emulation in mame that allowed for the System 573 digital games to run [3rd mix - Extreme, Solo 2k, etc], unfortunately, nothing has been found about such a thing existing. I guess we will have to wait until the emulation is worked on some more... however long that takes.

@25FreakOuts At the college I go to, there is a public lounge with a fast computer - funny, since they restrict it so we can only use it for school websites when internet is concerned. Hell, I play games nonstop on that thing and nobody has given a fuck It is more than fast enough for me to run DDR 1st, 2nd, DS DCT, DS TKD, DDR BOCD, AND have fraps running, so I think I'm gonna re-do this tomorrow.

I am using the latest version of MAME, or at least the one with the last update to the System573 emulation, and I downloaded the CHD and rom files from retroroms(dot)net. Some people do things slightly diferently, but I put the ROMs and CHD in one folder (bearing the game name) within the ROMS folder.

#retroroms(dot)com, IIRC (I get it confused with a site that has a similar name), has the roms as well as the necessary CHD files for all the variants of DDR 1st - EXTREME, DancingStage EuroMix 2, Dreams Come True, True Kiss Destination as well. You need to register (for free), and the chds are broken into files that can only be downloaded one-at-a-time, but with a good internet connection it isn't bad at all.

I'm getting a new one soon... for college. I already told my folks that I need a faster processer, as the computers used at this computer camp I work at run DDR 1st, 2nd mix, etc almost if not excatly to the best of the emulator's abilities and plays almost perfectly.

845jba02.chd is for ddrj, that is Dance Dance Revolution Internet Ranking version, and with a rename Dancing Stage 1st Mix (dstage).

I think it depends on the video resolution on the emulator. When i ran my emulator i had to adjust my vid res for the sound to play around regular speed. It's weird in a way, but thats what it might be.
