  • Which would you go..

    HD515, HD518, or HD555..

Honest opinion of whomever reads this comment.

  • Can't call myself an audiophile but I sure do like my music to sound good.

I use these on a Technics modular system (not really a hi-fi) playing standard CD's and I must say I've rediscovered the pleasure I used to know when I was listening to my large speakers system (married now >> can't blast my metal music in my wife's ears). These are relatively new, but I'm having more fun than with my IE7's which unfortunately just don't fit as well as I would like.

    Great choice in my opinion!

  • I can't decide between these or the AKG K240's. =(

  • @JCV0085 HD 518 seems like a good choice to us haha :)

  • which is better the hd 449 or this one

  • @julianvalencia7 in terms of overall sound quality and detail i would give the HD 518 the nod. The HD 449 is a closed headphone, the HD 518 is open, so if noise isolation is required, go HD 449.

  • @sennheiserusa hd 518 are bigger than hd449? what about comfort?

  • @beginner44 The HD 518 is indeed bigger than 449, and I would say that it is one of the most comfortable headphones we have ever made.

  • @sennheiserusa what about size of 518 and 449? Which one is bigger? Comfort is really important for me...

  • @beginner44 HD 518 is bigger. HD 518 is most comfortable.

  • @sennheiserusa thank you for information

  • which amp would you recommend for the 518's?

  • @Powerstar98 we don't offer specific recommendations at this time, but check out headfi (dot) org!

  • Is the sennheiser 518 good for the studio?

  • @TheArkanas some engineers like to use open headphones to mix and use as a reference. I would use HD 280 for tracking however.

  • I've never bought a pair of headphones over 15-20 bucks in my whole entire life... I'm getting the HD 558 model. And since I'm a music lover and a self-taught musician, why not? I hope I'm not disappointed because I heard this was an exceptional company to purchase headphones from. The 558's will be my first expensive pair.

  • @AnimeSage285 you're in for a treat :)

  • can use other 3.5 cable, say a shorter one for my ipod, coz 10ft of cable is not that compact

  • @Ruperth316 we have one on the way

  • will this work good with an iPod, or will i need more power?

  • Thanks so much. I am getting the Sony STR K1500 AMP. I hope its a good one. Its 2nd hand.

  • Great Video. Will an amp help? I want to watch DVds and want to get an amp to improve the sound. Will it work for Dvd movies?

  • @mac33311133 an amp will never hurt-- you can always add an amp and expect better gain than from a stock sound card or A/V receiver.

  • should i buy this or audio technica ath m50. also can you use this with an ipod and get good quality???

  • @RyanPoulier naturally we would recommend ours LOL! the HD 518 is a great A/V and hi-fi headphone..if you're watching hi-def movies, listening to your music collection, etc, the HD 518 is a fantastic choice

  • Are these good for all kinds of music, like Heavy-Metal to Dubstep? If not, can you recommend me another pair that is?

  • @SlightEgo this set is very versatile, it has great frequency response, especially in the bass regions, for excellent kick drum definition.

  • is it good for heavy metal?

  • @omarguadiana02 absolutely!

  • i cant decide on these or the akg k240studio, how colored are these compared to a flat responce monitor like the k240studio?

  • @thebmeat these are neutral compared to most other brands, but a bit fuller sounding in the bass and treble regions. If you want neutral Sennheiser near $100, go for HD 449 or HD 280 Pro. If you want open Aire, this is a great starting spot.

  • @sennheiserusa i actually already have a pair of hd280pro, and they clamp very tightly, great for tracking when drumming. i also have a sony mdrv6, which sounds similar to the hd280pro (minus a bass hump), but im looking for an open can now like these hd518, becuase im looking for a more comfortable, less heat prone pair, and since these are going to used for personal use and not studio use, they should be fine. thanks

  • @sennheiserusa oh, also is that pad on the top of the headband replaceable?

  • I removed the ear cushion but I cant reattach it. Does anyone have a detailed video showing how to do it.

  • @therealanon666 press it in with your thumbs, it will snap in

  • @sennheiserusa I got it back in but it wasn't that easy. I did however accidentally bend the plastic around the edge of the cushion when I removed it so that may have been why it didn't snap into place

  • GETTIN THIS SHIT FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!

  • i listen dubstep, you guys think this is a good headphone for dubstep?, good bass etc

  • Just ordered them from amazon should be here by the 20th cant wait, I got another question i bought sennheiser cx 880s about 3 months ago and they already broke , im pretty sure the left one was half dead when i got it , is their a way to get new ones without a receipt , plus they were from a random seller not amazon. I didnt think there was but maybe u can tell me .

  • @J0eyG23 Hello- We can certainly replace if purchased from an authorized seller-- we can guarantee that they are authentic and were not returned or damaged in shipping, left in a sub-freezing box truck, etc etc when they are purchased from an authorized dealer. Otherwise you simply don't know what you're getting.

  • @sennheiserusa Ok cheers bro , good news is i ordered the 518's of the actual authorized ( i believe ) amazon seller on the 16th and they came on the 17th even they where supposed to come on the 20th i was over the moon . anyway i am absolutely blown away with the sound quality , i am used to the in ear range of sennheiser but after getting annoyed with the general life span of in ears. i decided to get these and it was the best idea ever.

  • @J0eyG23 LOL "BEST. IDEA. EVER." !! thanks again!

  • @sennheiserusa So i showed it to one of my bro's and after only about 20 seconds he was already ordering a pair for christmas even without the widely believed essential burn in period (feel free to give ure views on this it would be interesting) .

P.S Dont think ill ever buy another pair of headphones not made by you , best company ever , a good majority of my friends have already been converted from their ipod headphones to a good quality pair of sennheiser, amazing stuff

  • @J0eyG23 you rock! thanks for choosing us, we certainly appreciate it. have an awesome holiday

  • the sennheiser hd 518 work with a iphone 4?

  • i listen metal so do you think the sennheiser hd 518 is good for me?

  • @ericthegamer10 abso-freakin-lutely...these have that tight, thunderous low-end without being floppy (double-kick stabs) and soaring mids and crisp treble.

  • What is the "big" difference between these and the HD 558? please answer :)

  • @Voddgreen HD 558 has an internal sound reflector and bass bump...wider sound stage and more bass impact. The HD 598 offers a more balanced sound, overall more detail.

  • @sennheiserusa Thank you, will go with the 558s

  • @sennheiserusa Do the 518's leak a lot of sound? Im going to be using them for the bus and I need to know.

  • @sarz91 you'll hear all the noises around you.

  • could I get a 1/8 cord for these? Seems cumbersome having that big adapter protruding from a phone

  • @ridinondubz it was designed for home audiophile use, but there is a short cable in the works

  • @sennheiserusa Please message me when they come available ( or post back here )

id also prefer it to be 3.5

  • Is this better than the HD 280 Pro ?

  • @sebwithers its more of an apples vs oranges thing-- HD 280 is closed for studio use near microphones, the HD 518 is for at home listening to music, games, movies-- usually in a hi or standard res format

  • Should I buy this or the Bose AE2?

  • @jepdiniz2 this of course! :)

  • hello, i was wondering what sennheiser headphones would be good for me considering i want amazing, low and powerful bass but crisp and clear trebles and highs as well, but i would like to use them port-ably, but also at home for music, video games and movies, but mostly music. Also, I moslty listen to artists such as Lil Wayne, Blink 182, Mac Miller and Eminem, thank you so much!

  • @NCorrigan2014 great choice for these genres and artists...GREAT choice!

  • Hi,since this is 50 ohms, will it be able to be used with an ipod touch 4G (32 ohms max i think :,()?+do you recommend this headphone for drum and bass and dubstep?

  • @MrLordDragonite you will get plenty of volume from an iPod Touch and this headphone

  • i listen to LMFAO and stuff like that a little bit of rap and green day like stuff

    sould i take this one???

  • @krachtpatsertje this is a GREAT choice for your tastes-- full, rich and still extremely (EXTREMELY) detailed

  • i want to buy these headphones, but the only thing is that is open - aire, the cancelling noise on this headphones is like you have on the sony mdr xb500 or better?. help sennheiserusa.

  • @feanor255 these are indeed wide open and designed for listening in private where room acoustics or easily-annoyed neighbors/babies/wives/husbands are nearby-- and you don't want to sacrifice the sound of a speaker. Check out HD 280 for a closed model.

  • Do they have good bass?

  • @cichlidsfreak yes, according to the Sennheiser website they have very deep, rich bass!

  • @cichlidsfreak absolutely

  • @sennheiserusa thanks! But also I like to go on the bus while I listen to music on my iPod would it be a problem to have to have that big cable hanging off of the sennheisers and wouldn't they leak a lot of sound because there open headphones! Thanks and please respond!

  • @VaLacTionQ Try HD 280 instead...closed with a shorter cable

  • @sennheiserusa What do you actually mean by 'closed' and 'open-aire'? Pls get back to me..

  • @reddevil211287 closed isolates noise, open-aire does not. open-aire sounds most like speakers for private listening.

  • Does these headphones come with a bag/case?

  • THESE HEADPHONES OR BEATS BY DR DRE STUDIOS? PLEASE RESPOND!!!!!!

  • @VaLacTionQ Sennheiser HD 518!

  • @VaLacTionQ On a non biased response I would go totally for the Sennheiser, they are higher quality than the Beats.

  • @VaLacTionQ Sennheiser :)

  • are these headphones better than the solo hds?

  • @viper1995 Obs. Beats are for style, not sound quality.

  • How is it in terms of comfort and sound when compared to the HD 280 Pro and HD 595?

  • some one tell me whats the diff from thees and 555

  • Is it worth the cost to buy this? Or should I just buy the HD 515?? Is there a major difference? thanks

  • How is the comfort of the headphones? Is there a clamp on these headphones?? I have the HD 280 Pro, and the clamp sometimes hurts my jaw line.

  • @Destroysall nice and light. try putting your 280's around a stack o' books for a week or so to loosen them :)

  • do these interfere with glasses? I bought turtle beach px5 and I have to wear contacts while using the headset because it pushes my glasses inward and hurts after a while.

  • im looking at getting these headphones but im wondering if its worth it. Im only going to be using them with my phone/laptop... does it still make sense to get them? should i get a cheaper pair?

  • Im looking into these headphones and im wondering if its worth getting them if im going to be listening to them only with my laptop/phone... will using those devices hinder the headphones? Does it make sense to get cheaper ones?

  • ¿Who has better sound quality?, HD598 and HD 518

  • are these better then beats by dre studio headphones?

  • @danieljturenne HD518 is a bargain of the century, beats are generally overrated, IMVHO. I would choose HD518 in a heartbeat over beats.

  • @danieljturenne Almost every headphones over $80 is better than beats except for skullcandys.

  • @tmtm325 You're exaggerating. Beats are overrated like crazy, yes, but they aren't completely shit. Just shit compared to all other headphones in their price range.

  • @danieljturenne much better

  • are these beatter then beats by dre studio headphones?

  • @danieljturenne we feel that these are the best open-aire headphones at this price

  • Are this closed or opened headphones?

  • @LXbomber open-aire :D

  • @sennheiserusa

hd 448 or hd 518 wich are better??

  • Where can I find a shorter cord? I wanna take these babies with me EVERYWHERE...just not 10 feet of cable...

  • Is there a trick to snapping out the ear pieces? Mine don't seem to come out and i'm afraid of pulling too hard and breaking it.

  • @aznxpress82 pinch the cushion and pull it off...on the HD 598 video I actually take the cushion off

  • Hmm HD518 or HD558 for music production, that is the question...

  • Does anyone know where to get a replacement cord for these?

  • @frumpy10182 Have you tried Sennheiser's website?

  • Are these better than the Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD edition?

  • @hoekstrabra apples vs oranges....we feel that these are the best open headphones at this price, and the HD 280 are the best at that price

  • Love the styling

  • I love Sennheiser's ridiculously long cables, I play allot of music on my home theater system at home and I like it loud and clean :) Great for gaming, considering I am seven feet away from my receiver :)

  • I'm pretty sure i'm right, but these are useable for the ipod, right?

  • @Madsvjj Yes they are. This line of headphones are some of the very best high quality headphones when it comes to running on lower power.

  • I WANT THIS!

  • @xxblzrd703 count me in

  • does anybody know the material for the contacts? i know these are recommended for studio use but i definitely plan to use them with my mp3 player and guitar, so ill be doing a significant amount of switching. As such, im really wondering the material of the contacts, as a material as soft as gold would wear very quickly from all the transfers.

  • @pudo3792 completely, because when you download the music from itunes, to save data they remove some of the sound that you can't get with crappy headphones, but you can with these, one of the many reasons why you would buy these. You can download your music from other sources that give you the full sound though, and those can be played from an ipod and such, but without an amplifier, you won't get the same quality.

  • @pudo3792 No, You will need a Headphone Amp!

  • How do these compare to the hd 555's ? or the moded verison of the hd555's

  • @danmannz well usually the 3 digit numbers represent the quality and sound of the headphones by sennheiser rating. so 555 should be better, and it costs more so assume it is better

  • Im pretty shure.

I going to buy this :)
