@Twankiez1019 Mine graphics card used to overheat and VLOD, but now I have learned to remove the bottom small cover over the RAM, and run a laptop cooler under it. Dropped my temps about 10 degrees and no more VLOD, I may send it in to ASUS to fix.
You can change the Bios so the laptop will not overheat...... I had the same problem I fix it I got the ASUS G73JH 5870 ATI. to not overheat and shutdown my games too....
i had this laptop, but returned it because it was kinda out of my budget plus the ati drivers were giving me problems, so i got a g51vx instead, meh, anyhow ASUS ROG beats gay trash overpriced Alienware anyday!
not sure if i should buy this product have heard good and bad things about it. Was hoping for some really good input on it however, havent found it here. Does any one know if it crashes a lot? How about the support for it? I heard battery will only last about 2 hours? The crashes and over heating is my biggest concerns any input anyone HELP lol
@greenbeenie60 People don't understand that this is a high performance laptop, and it is equipped with plenty of airflow. But there won't b any airflow if you block the bottom off as the inlets are on the bottom like all laptops. I've had ZERO issues with mine at all, and Asus has been updating very well. Battery only last 2 hours due to it being a High Performance Desktop Replacement, so I wasn't expecting battery life. I run it without the battery anyways.
@greenbeenie60 The only bad thing your probably going to hate the most is the touch pad. Its god awful! Get a mouse and you use its way better than the touchpad.
i'm typing on mine right now, got it in July(that exact model and price as video).
never had it crash once, if you're gonna run without battery, just turn off backlit keyboard and turn the screen brightness down by just a bit and don't crank out the jams and you'll get a good 2 hours from it.
i can play Crysis: Warhead almost everything at max(explosions turned down by just a bit and thats it) and rock a good 30fps without the computer EVER feeling warm.
@greenbeenie60 I've got this computer and its a great machine. Only complaint I have is don't play it on your lap unless u have something flat to set it on becuause it will over heat. Also I play Crysis2 demo with setting on full and it plays it with no problem at all.
dont play WOW on it, the laptop wont like it play something like AION which is 10x better graphics then WOW, Crysis its no big deal at all for it, i should say throw any game on high setting and you'll see no lag, i got 1 too btw
@shuttle2w3 Well the Asus wins no matter what with graphics due it havingthe 5870 Radeon Mobile. But pretty much the Asus wins due to cost/performance ratio. You will pay less and get a way better performing laptop than Alienware, they overcharge a lot for looks. Asus comes with a 9 cell isn't extra, and comes with a 500 GB 7,200 HD. There are 3 different versions on the Asus but the lowest one is what we have and it owns. Look at the difference between the Asus on Best Buy and NewEgg.
I got a G71, thinking about upgrading to one of these in a little while. In the meantime I am still pretty happy with my p8700 OC'd to 3 Ghz, 6gb ddr2 and GTX 260M
@1MuchButteR1 I assume it is, you can take the whole bottom panel off to look at stuff. I guess you would have to contact Asus and they would give you some run around like blah blah void blah blah warranty. This laptop has ZERO need for upgrading. It blazing fast as is. It has a awesome processor, and the highest graphics mobile you can go without Crossfire, and then you can say goodbye to any battery life you have. It lasts about 2 hours until it dies on mid performance.
@1MuchButteR1 since the its a 5870 graphics card and not an integrated one .. yes you can interchange it for a newer one in the future as long as it fits.. It will probably take some work though since i doubt its not friendly to a gpu upgrade.
You mind telling me how much you got it for
