When I first saw this gameplay footage I couldn't believe it was an Indie game it looks so good. I instantly went to XBL and downloaded this game to try it out and it is not as easy as you made it look but extremely playable and fun just an out and out arcade racer which is what I love about it. And at only 80 MS points a real steal. I normally overlook Indie games DLC and go for XBLA titles instead. Thankfully I saw this vid otherwise I would have missed this gem. Thanks for the heads up. :-)
@DLiberator78 Yeah, it does look great! Would I be wrong in saying it's around PS2 level? I am not using full boost for a lot of the video. :) Believe me, I crash a lot. It's one of those games where you can get in a zone, going full out with boost and driving great, then all of a sudden crash and lose the flow and start crashing all the time. lol
While the game looks awesome and you have yet again done a great review, I am unfortunately falling out of love with the XBOX 360 platform. Maybe this will be the last of my purchases for the system before I bin it.
@niceandgames It just seems all the games that come out for it are rather bland and all the same. Not like the days of Keystone Capers on the Atari ;)
@critanime I can understand that feeling of mainstream big-budget game somehow feeling the same. I guess the days when games like BurgerTime or Frogger were mainstream are long gone. For some reason, those are the only old arcade games I can think of right now. lol But Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will be coming out for 360, so, that might be reason enough to keep it! :)
Awesome review!! I've just got to get the wireless adapter (I have an Arcade 360), which is cheaper on Ebay then it is in GameStop. But I will definitely get this title!!!
@dave4shmups Can you run a long cable to your router? Would be even cheaper. I actually do that. :) But it's just from one room to the next, and easily put away when done. :) Unfortunately, to play an Indie game, you need to be logged in to Xbox Live. Silly. Or is it Xbox LIVE? or LIVE! Not sure how excited Microsoft would like me to be. :)
To be honest, this game looks worthless. The physics look like a disgrace to the realism of arcade racers. It looks like you're playing it with a paddle controller. The engine sound is horrible. You couldn't pay me to put this on my hard drive, and it smells funny too.
@gdement This would be great with a paddle (or 2600 driving controller)! I suspect the my bad playing might have something to do with it's paddle-like appearance. :) I see your point about the physics, perhaps I should've compared it to Sega's Turbo, rather than Out Run. But really, this game is fun, and it's only a small download (~26mb?) so it's easy to give it a try before you buy! As far as the smell, well...I had spilled some pea soup, so please don't blame the game for my clumsiness. :)
This really reminds me of the game 'Drive', which was specifically made for blind people. Kind of odd, but that just popped into my head when seeing the footage of this game.
@niceandgames That's the one, yes! Wow It's been almost 10 years since I last saw... or rather heard, that game! Funny how it reminded me of it, since the premise is pretty different looking back to it now. I guess it has something to do with the simplicity and fun both titles seem to have, plus being racing related of course ;)
I remember you could make the guy in the car with you puke by pulling the brakes hard all of sudden haha.
@HalfBlindGamer lol I bet that is really interesting to hear the puking. lol I don't know much about audio games. Years ago I thought about getting Real Sound for the Sega Saturn, but then I remembered I can't understand Japanese...
Nice! XBLA seems to have a lot of good games for it. Which, believe it or not, is actually the reason I want to snag one. I guess maybe a few disc games as well such as Gears of War, but XBLA is where it's at!
