Not to be rude or anything but I bet Bert is happy because he's sleeping peacefully in a hotel room without Ernie waking him up in the middle of the night! I'm sure that he misses his old buddy Ernie but I bet he's happy to finally get a good night's sleep.
Why couldn't Ernie just come along to the convention with Bert. I know maybe he doesn't like it, but any ways it's a trip. My grandparents are Jehova Witnesses and even though I despise that religion I come along their conventions just so i can go to another city and stay in a hotel.
For those who thin that Bert and Ernie are gay... well, it IS funny when Ernie says he can't sleep without Bert there to play with...
But come on- and tell me this...
What about your friends? Because I have to tell you, from my point of view, the cookies aren't quite as good, either...
The fun of cookies is sharing them so you and your friends are just full enough... if you eat cookies all by yourself, you just get fat and weighed down...
Bert's the straight man to Ernie's jokes. I think that's all Henson intended. I doubt they were trying to make a "Gay's are OK" statement like how our modern sociuety wants to portray this innocent kid's show.
Anyway, how many colledge age guys room together because of their currcumstances? This can't mean that everyone that has to room with someone of the same sex is automatically gay, does it?
@madcapromanian: But even if they were gay, would it matter? They're still the same lovable duo they've always been, regardless. I mean, seriously, most books, puzzles, games, & other products have shown Elmo/Zoe despite their being 3-4 years old & those same products have--despite claims to the contrary between Sesame Workshop itself & by their performers--shown Bert as a princess to Ernie as a prince, so whatever floats one's boat, since really the learning is what matters.
@madcapromanian they could also be based on Martin and Lewis and all those great comedy acts..I dont know why people think they are gay..that issue never came up in the 70's some people now a days have nothing better to do than be a smart ass ..they're puppets for god sakes..
Rephrase: sweet. Will that do better? Nice, sweet, endearing, cute. Not cute, I'm unsure of the word I'm looking for, right now I'm skiving exam studies and am pretty darn near out of words.
Tell me what I mean and I'd appreciate it, but I always liked the friendship between B & E, it reminds me of my best mate when I was little.
Most definitely. Ernie and Bert aren't kids (this is certain as Bert's twin brother is an adult salesman with a son) so for a grown man to be that upset about Bert being gone indicates they're probably more than just roommates.
A great song to let any child know that it's OK to miss people, and talking about your feelings to a trusted friend can help you feel better. It worked for me, when I used to see this.
The room is dark because Ernie is feeling sad.

Until they start sharing a bed, you can't convince me that they're lovers.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
