Bert's the straight man to Ernie's jokes. I think that's all Henson intended. I doubt they were trying to make a "Gay's are OK" statement like how our modern sociuety wants to portray this innocent kid's show.

Anyway, how many colledge age guys room together because of their currcumstances? This can't mean that everyone that has to room with someone of the same sex is automatically gay, does it?

I mean, seriously, most books, puzzles, games, & other products have shown Elmo/Zoe despite their being 3-4 years old & those same products have--despite claims to the contrary between Sesame Workshop itself & by their performers--shown Bert as a princess to Ernie as a prince, so whatever floats one's boat, since really the learning is what matters.

Most definitely. Ernie and Bert aren't kids (this is certain as Bert's twin brother is an adult salesman with a son) so for a grown man to be that upset about Bert being gone indicates they're probably more than just roommates.
