You neglected to mention that the white house confirmed on numerous occasions: they knew Saddam had WMD's - which was an outright lie, oh and as for this genocide, the only genocide that took place was against the Kurds any guesses who sold him the chemical weapons? yep USA. (their awesome)
We used 9/11 as the first excuse claiming, (you'll find this in numerous news reports) - Saddam was harboring terrorists.
Saddam was also doing a good job keeping the Sunnis and the Shiites from fighting.

The only reason USA was able to get away with the invasion of iraq (GW2), was because it had the majority of Americans foaming at the mouth whipped up in a patriotic storm of bloodlust for the acts of 9/11.
