Lovely!!! I have a '67 ES-335/12 that I bought in '77 as a 6 string and I've never had the nerve to put 12 strings on her. She has the original tuners, bridge, tailpiece, nut, plus the original neck pickup, pots, knobs, pickup selector switch and an aftermarket bridge pickup.
A previous owner stripped off the original finish (I suspect Sunburst since the neck and sides are brown rather than Cherry) and brushed on clear.
man. you got skills. you also got sumthin thats not 2 common , and thats the ability to just .... play. there are to many guitarists in this day and age that just "rock out" all the time and never just slow down and play . dont get me wrong, Phil x is good and talented, but does he ever stop and take his time? kudos dude, dont change a thing.
@Bubbamiester1000 Thank you for your nice comment, mate. Actually, I like to watch some of Phil X videos because he's a funny guy but definitely too old school for my taste music wise. Still I respect him too given I wouldn't be able to play even a tenth of what he's able to do.
@Bubbamiester1000 what kind of pedal and amp u using? i have a old fender vibrolux reverb amplifier and i want to get a pedal with that exact sound for the old gal
Ok ..well i had read that they were 1&5/8 & 1&9/16 is about as narrow as I had noticed in any production guitar...just a hair over 1&1/2 is pretty strange for a 12 string...anyhow your demo does sound great...never thot I would offer to sell mine ..guess i should have figured out a way to get a 6 string & I could have left it as a 12...now days with the light gauge stings they should last indefinately.
@guitarharpsichord I saw some 12 strings guitars from other makers having a very large neck. I guess it's easier to play but I found it kind of ugly. If I had the dough I'd order from the Custom Shop an ES-335/12 with some improvements including a standard neck (and an ebony fretboard to handle the tension of the small strings) : a neck as wide as it is on my Blues King Electro would be perfect.
@julosx when I play guitar I have a classical (Petros) & changing from the wide neck & nylon strings to the 335 is a huge difference...from 39mm to 51 mm..yeah I am thinking of getting something in between...but I will probably stick with nylon strings.
Hi....thot I would mention that the neck measures 38-39mm at the original 12 string nut..(it is tapered) making mine a very Narrow Neck ..very close to 1&1/2 inches..& I am wondering if I have a one of a kind instrument.
@guitarharpsichord It's not, all Gibson guitars made between 1965 and 1970 had very narrow necks, especially the jazz boxes and ES-335s, including yours and mine.
Hi ..yes I noticed your Lush vids..I really dont know their music..though the group did recieve some notice here in the states( quite a few years ago)..I visited the shop in Kalamazoo in the early 80's ..mosty trying to get a definate age on the 335TDC- 12 string & a 355 that I had acquired ..they really dint comfirm much on the 335 because the records had been destroyed in a fire! well anyhow I know it was made prior to july of 67...maybe we could compare serial #'s? peace
@julosx "In 1961 Gibson started a new serial number system that covered all instrument lines. It consisted of numbers that are impressed into the wood. It is also generally known to be the most frustrating and hard to understand system that Gibson has employed. The numbers were used between the years 1961-1969. There are several instances where batches of numbers are switched in order, duplicated, not just once, but up to four times, and seem to be randomly assigned, throughout the decade."
I have a 1966 Gibson ES-335-12 that the brilliant guitar tech Leroy Aiello of Point Pleasant, New Jersey just rescued from the dead, transforming it into a beautiful butterfly. I love this performance: just a lovely technique and a glorious tone. Thanks for sharing.

Terrific..tis amazing...there must have been a few hundred of these in 67..& we have the same color...less than a 1000 total whist in production if I remember correctly...Joni Mitchell played a blonde version when I saw her in concert..also think Dream Academy may have used it on their Rememberance recording...Peace
@guitarharpsichord The rarest 12-strings guitars made at Kalamazoo seems to be the '65 Epi Riviera XII : only 50 were shipped that year. Miki Berenyi from Lush has a '93 reissue of the Riviera XII - all the others made that year (by the Custom Shop) were 6-strings. Hers is the very last pure 12-strings ever made in US by Gibson/Epiphone, definitely one of a kind.
Hi ..I have one of these .. from "67" Cherry Red!!..got it in Detroit...(just before the riots). I am wondering if I should sell it because I havent been playin steel string..mostly used it as a 6 string throughout the years...so right now it has a 6 string nut & a Schaller bridge...yours still have the plastic saddles?..
@guitarharpsichord Yes, the bridge is 100% original, the wire is still on as well, just like the trapeze tailpiece fit for 12 strings. i won't use this guitar as a 6-strings, I bought it because the 12 strings sound is so special and amazing. There's truly a kind of a spirit living in it.
It's sure not as easy to play single notes on a 12-strings as it is to do so on a 6-strings, and I don't have a 12-strings acoustic so I can't really compare. Light gauge strings are necessary, especially on a electric guitar. The neck has to be set up quite right, and there's an issue with mine :(
En fait, le seul ajout (fait par un ancien propriétaire) sont les deux trous pour caser un stop bar, autrement dit pour la transformer en 6 cordes. Le cordier trapèze est d'origine et a été maintenu tel quel.
Hello, I just posted a video response here with my 1967 6 string Epiphon E230TD Casino. Yours was made in Kalamazoo Michigan as well as mine. Great sound ! What kind of pickups does yours have? Mine is equiped with 2 P90's. Cheers
Mine is equipped with its original electronics featuring standard humbuckers, possibly not PAFs. So there's very little hum despite its age ! The ES-335/12 came with 2 finishes : translucent cherry red like this one or sunburst. Your Epiphone is opaque red.
