  • Ahh can't wait to get this one for my newly purchased AES, what sony crt you using?

  • bloody great game this got the mvs version myself, theres an immense satisfaction in owning neo geo games I love the huge boxes and game carts.

  • Great game i'll have to get it for my MVS.

  • @NeonGenesisPlatinum Do It! Its well worth the investment

  • Isn't there a way to change the difficulty on the AES version? I recall difficulty settings on the English Dreamcast version that I have.

  • @SNK038 There is, but even with the difficulty maxed out, its not hugely challenging. Or maybe I've just been playing it to much lol!

  • @alexgameroom 2 player mode is the solution to that. I've spent hours playing this against a friend. That's where the game really shines.

  • I'm not really big on beatemups, but this looks like something I'd enjoy. Shame they cost so much.

    Great video :)

  • @SteveBenway Last Blade (and Last Blade 2) is probably my favorite SNK game. You could get it for Dreamcast. It's a pretty good conversion and plays well with the Dreamcast Arcade stick. It's also on the Neo Geo Pocket Color! You should get more NGPC games for your reviews SteveBenway! There are many non fighting games too.

  • @SteveBenway Thanks mate, you dont need to be into beatemups to get into this one, the control system is very instinctive and I'd say most can finish the game on easy after a few go's. Even if you are shockingly bad, you'll still feel like your kicking ass

  • @SteveBenway

They are well worth it though mate, particularly this and the Real Bout Fatal Fury games. Well worth the price as you get your money's worth out of them due to the accessible, but deep gameplay that will keep you going for ages.

I bought these a few years ago and keep playing away at them every so often. Can't say the same for some of my full price current gen purchases though. Plus these games hold their value in the long term, if not go up in value.

  • The overall presentation of this game's so nice. Never had this in my original AES collection awhile back, but i can definately understand why you love it. There's no substitute for depth and detail is there. Being an AES game, does The Last Blade cost a small fortune? Entertaining vid mate as always. :)

  • @MENDEZ1628 Thanks dude, as AES games go this one isn't to over priced at about £130 for the Jap version, just over priced in respect to every other system Lol! It is a class act though. No regrets shelling out.

  • Like you say this game has great attention to detail, very impressive game for the neo geo.

  • @amurphy245 Its a peach, you can see the developers have worked really hard on this. That said I get that impression from most neo geo games. No corner cutting.

  • Yeah even that guy's fan movement when you won the first battle had about 50 frames of animation. Looks great fun and not too anal with special moves. I hate beat em ups with too many anal moves, esp when the opposition fire em at you from the off. Are you running this AES through the VGA scaler? If so, are you tempted to get the SLG3000? Nive vid anyway, great looking game, will have to check my JP PS2 or SNK Arcade Classics.

  • @futurematt5 You can get straight into this one with out looking up any special moves, and there's none of this hiding in a corner and launching fire balls up your arse. This is just running through scart. I've had a re-think about what I want to do in here output wise and decided not to go down the scaler route, and get another CRT. I'm most likely going to be a pretentious twat and go for an older Bang & Olufsen. I love the idea of a dedicated vertical setup as well.

  • Nice vid mate, this is definitely at the top of my AES to-get list, it's a shame it's as expensive as it is but if anything's worth shelling out a bit extra for it's this one.

Got to love how fluid and detailed the animation is, that's why these old 2d beat em ups are still so good; full of character and personality to this day. :)

  • @Drexus80 My sentiments exactly, it's not everyday I shell out £100+ on a game, but for this one its worth every penny. You know, I prefer 2D fighting games from this era to current gen, I couldn't get on with SF4 for example, it just seemed to 'into itself'

  • @alexgameroom Agreed, as nice as SF4 is I can take or leave the art style; give me some nicely detailed Last Blade style graphics or some other retro beat em up. :)
