  • A great rock n roll band

  • I'm not gay but I'd reconsider for 70's Eric Bloom. Where can I buy that outfit?

  • @VinnyCash7

lol, it's so 70:s and yet NOT! It's just very good muzic, rock, really special, saw them '78 live in Gothenburg and a couple of times in later years, so great with lasers and stuff!

(Opening act was J.Cougar at that time(Mellencamp later) Remember, at this time it was almost Science Fiction. They always been in frontline with their muzic and shows, always twistin their music in an unexpected direction..

    SO Great!!

  • lovely song

  • fantastic song

  • i love this amazing live version of this classic

  • Awesome song

  • metallicas version is ok, but has none of the emotion + piss poor vocals.

  • Eric Bloom!! He can visit my mom!

  • Fantastic song. Blue Oyster Cult, one of (if not THE) best bands ever

  • My favorite rock song.

  • @Illuminarch Last Days of May could be the best song ever and this one is up there too.

  • @clubninjarock ..best was "Stairway to the stars", then "Hot rails to hell".

  • @Headbangheals this version is far superior

  • @Headbangheals lulwut. I appreciate a good cover, but thats all it is. A good cover. Not a better one.

  • @Headbangheals I feel sad for you.

  • love this! Saw BOC back in the day but never this song- thanx for posting:)

  • I guess you had to be there. It was a lot better than it looks. Pretty good sound quality considering. Thanks for posting this.Brings back a very good time in my life. The BEST American rock band ever. Back in those days Aerosmith opened for BÖC. Enough said.

  • I <3 this song

  • epicness!!!

  • 240p :'(

  • @evanwilcox82 dunno mate, it looks cooler with 240p :D You get more of that 70s feeling than a Blue ray rip

  • @CoolKwstas123 Hell yeah man. You got that right. the crappier the quality the better the experience :)

  • @evanwilcox82 if it wasnt in 240p it would not be the 70's

  • soft white underbelly

  • what a song and performance - I have watched it sometimes 3-4 times in a row and some times more after that on my phone in bed before falling asleep...

  • These guys ripped off Metallica.

  • @antdigger Garage Inc. was an album Metallica did in the late 90s that covered songs from people who inspired them. They covered Astronomy - Blue Oyster Cult as well.

  • @MrAnonymous566 lets just assume he's being sarcastic

  • @antdigger really dude

  • @antdigger I oughtta internet punch you, but your ignorance makes me realize, if i were to punch you, i'd have to punch 75% of america

  • @vAGENTv0RANGEv I'm pretty sure the guy was joking, wtf...

  • I've seen them 5 times in the past 6 1/2 yrs. If you have not seen them to bad...Look at there web site (Tour) Go and see them before it's to late...? It will never be like the old days...?

  • All the amps up to 11 !!!!

  • I'm one of the lucky ones who experienced rock in person back in the day. Rock and roll will never die because it's good. Nothing before it or since comes close. It's awesome to be able to see videos from back in the day on YouTube. Buck is the most underrated guitarist and BOC is the most underrated rock band. One of the few really good American bands since most are British and we fought those SOBs and won!

  • @FluffyRadical

My Bro, i feel the same. Thank you for this words.

  • he has friggin laser beams lol

  • Buck Fucking Dharma!!! plays all night never sweats lol

  • god takes the control of les paul after 4:20 .

  • Is it just me, or have bands these days forgotten what a "build" is? 4:25 to 6:23, kiddos. Huge amount of emotion without a single word.

Take notes, I know I am!

  • jeez what a solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It would've just been nicer if they had dressed better lol, the one pieces always annoy me, like im rockin it out to dio and i tab back and look at ronnie in a white one piece with studded beads and shit and i always face palm a little inside.

  • If there were ever a song to make a hard science sexy, this'd be it.

  • Beautiful song :D

  • WHY isn't there a love button?

  • Where was this solo on the studio version!?!?! favourite vid on youtube

  • great song

  • Gang Stalkers

  • BOC is one of my favorite bands...you know theyre a great band when the likes of Metallica covers one of their songs!

  • @Drewduff No, you know theyre a great band when the make great music.

  • I want that beard

  • 57 people dont worship the devil

  • You misspelled Blue Öyster Cult

  • mettlica dose this song better

  • @niggahfly Way to spell the name right dumbass

  • Stunning. I can't imagine if the sound quality was up to snuff.... Where'd all the bass go?

  • SO fucking glad i heard this first before the metallica version.

  • I was born in 1960 so this is my music. But, my kids like this era of music as much as the new stuff. The richest era of music in history was the mid 50's to about 1980 except for the classical era of 1500-1700 :). BOC kicks it. Would love to be young again just catching the great live performances of the 70's era bands. - Wow.

  • stunning song, although at their live shows it used to piss me off a bit when buck or eric used to ask the audience ' you have a choice, do you guys want to hear this, or Veteran'. play them both dammit and stop talking, you could easily fit another song in there! lol. seriously, one of the best ever live bands...

  • Steven Hyde is singing ;)

  • IMO we have 57 Justin Beiber fans here!

  • @callummackenzie forget about them they don't know good music even if it bites them on the ass.

  • Beautiful song. Got Secret Treaties special ordered just so I could hear it on its album. And I'm only 14! See how well I was brought up?

  • @BOC313 --- Most excellent. Secret Treaties' version is the original, and nothing comes close.

  • what a classic!!; like gasoline and oil on a mad mans face his reasons tends to fly away... *LOL*

  • Possibly my favorite video on youtube of all time.

Also please shut up about Metallica....

  • Yupeee

  • Jimmy Page's Les Paul!

  • did BOC ever play the NEW '88 astronomy live? i can't find it on ytube. if not, i am surprised...it was such a radio hit for the longest time!

  • My uncle who is an avid music listener says the BOC are a joke band, says they were shit and noone liked them back in the day. I dont know what the hells his problem, they are incredible.

  • My favorite version as far as guitar and over all feel.To bad the sound isn't up to snuff. Absolutely take boc over metallic.

  • 56 metallica fanboys.

  • Hahaha....BOC gave alittle popularity to Metallica...;)

  • I've seen BOC in concert many times, and Buck always amazes me. He never even looks at what his fingers are doing.

  • Thx a lot to metallica. They gave a little of popularity to Blue Oyster Cult. Great band

  • The last time I saw BOC was 2008..I think...at the NY State ballon fair...THEY KICKED ASS!!!!

i CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!

  • I'm very glad that they've been amassing a large fan base now, but are the shows still like they used to be? I've seen video of the old performances, and they were badass shows, but is it just the bad ass music now? No lasers, no smoke, no strobes, no godzilla head?

  • Awesome

  • They were never underrated by those of the era. Long live 70's "under the radar" rock.

  • Alvaro Mogrobejo me sugirió el tema hace tiempo!! super lindo recordarlo.. Gracias!!

  • There are 56 assholes who watch youtube!!

  • Thank you!!

  • i hav a vid on the top 10 boc songs. come check it out.

  • Metalli*f***ing*ca covered this song ? ok!

  • pogo :) luv this song ! only heard it for about 2:11 ! gogo godzilla !

  • Seen the BOC several times, to include Germany !! THE MOST EPIC CONCERT WAS THE BLACK AND BLUE TOUR !!! LONG LIVE ASTRONOMY !!

  • Eventhough I like the Metallica cover better, the original is one great song. It's a shame I never heard of them before looking up on Wikipedia...

  • Awwwwesome song, wish I could turn the volume up more though.

  • He has a beautiful voice

  • the bass player is my bass instructorr

  • The concert was at a beach front club. My sister said later that we were

there with "the great unwashed"..I laughed. I did not notice. Of the three

times I saw the Cult that was the best show. Fantastic. And yes, they

    played this.,

  • BOC WILL ALWAYS REMAIN A TOUR DE FORCE IN ROCK MUSIC HISTORY !! SEEN THEM SEVERAL TIMES ! ALWAYS LEFT ME WANTING MORE !! SEEN THE BLACK N BLUE TOUR IN 81, STILL SO FRESH AND LEGENDARY IN MY MIND !

  • 56 dumbasses

  • you can see how this track was made for their pioneering laser light show....

  • Raul...?

  • @jeduardo si¡?

  • @IIIArrow711 No not Kurt. I mean the "Windows" character played by Thomas G. Waites

  • Discovered this song because Metallica covered it, but I gotta say the original performance beats the cover any day, and live at that?! Mind blown. I may be a 21 year old metalhead but I know great music from any genre when I hear it. These men are the grandfathers of my music.

  • @Roran109 ,finally a young guy with opinion!welldone kid and that's true and this is a masterpiece and Metallica(who i love by the way) should'nt have touched this materpiece

  • @Roran109 Just discovered them while looking in my Dads old CD collection, Some CD called "Dark as Metal" (Dont remeber), And I saw my favourite band Deep purple there with Fireball so I started to listen. THEN Blue Öyster Cult played the song - The reaper, and omg such ear orgasm. NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE IT!

  • this is not song.. this is an experiance

  • I'm cry...

  • nice song

  • I don't think anybody ever underrated them,they did very well,filling area's all though the 70's,great band.

  • I sure didn't under rate them, heh heh

  • has the vocalist played a main role in john carpenters original version of "The Thing"?

  • @twessels no, i think your thinking of Kurt Russel.

  • @twessels R.J. MacReady tells us of his experiences in the Antarctic through interpretive song and dance.

"The other ones a duplicate" I mean really? its right there.

  • Ebcounter time...and then came me!

  • no better song about the stars

  • Year?

  • thx for the info Blue Oysters and Metallica.

  • I've seen THE REAL CULT about seven times, I just loved it when the Harley Davidson would come roaring out onto the stage. We used to say are you going to catch the Cult show tonight, back in the 70's, and everyone would know that meant Blue Oyster CULT. Still rockin' and rollin' in the new millennium.

  • One of the 2 most underrated songs EVER, the other being Dio's "Dont talk to strangers"

  • Buck's guitar parts are amazing. The solos before and after the breakdown are out of this world. Not even my idol Kirk Hammett could have written better solos for this song even if given an eternity.

  • Metalicas cover is ok, but I still think the best version is when they redid this song off the album "Imaginos".

  • The original version is a great song, just the song itself, covered by anyone, is a great song. BOC done a very good job at creating a good song. Metallica, they have always had an eerie aura about covering songs. They take a song and make it theirs, if it's good or bad, up to you. Metallica's version is excellent, the guitar has the power, and the vocals are perfect. As for me, Metallica's version is the better one,but the credit goes to the creators,BOC,for making the song in the first place.

  • @jfkdjfd I like the way you think.

  • I still drag out my vinyl now & then to listen to them the way it was INTENDED to be...snaps/crackles/pops included.

    God, I miss the 70's

  • man....this and veteran of the psychic wars......that is some serious guitar!

  • The clock is about to strike twelve.

  • anyone else hear this before they heard the metallica cover?

  • @SpartanMartan973 I haven't listened to metallica's yet. I'll do it right now and tell ya what I think...wait, I guess I don't need to, BOC rules anytime.

  • I fell in love with this song when I heard it on Some Enchanting Evening while tripping on acid. Made an impression. Loved it then just as now. AWESOME FUCKING guitar work. The best guitar of any song period. Saw them several times over the years. Good memories thank you. But why don't they play this song anymore? Arthritis? Bummer.

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Four winds at the Four Winds Bar

Two doors [Incomprehensible] and windows barred

One door to let to take you in

The other one just mirrors it"

    Lol, taken from elyrics.

  • I SAW BOC IN 1980. ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE CONCERTS. THEY SOUNDED FANTASTIC AND HAD A GREAT SHOW. THANKS TO YOUTUBE THE YOUTH OF TODAY CAN EXPERIENCE WHAT REAL MUSIC SOUNDED LIKE IN THE ROCK-N-ROLL ERA..................

  • @MrDwightFrye ..AMEN on that ... with less time in front than I have behind me I'm living proof you're never too old to rock.

  • i SIGN IN aND GET THE sAME Posts..LoL .. What up ..Gezzz.

    No Bandwith ...

    Lak..Of ..Something...

    Still the only Alien...

  • 56 people forgot to put sound on

  • @MrSpaceMan1000

    57 people are deaf

  • @MrSpaceMan1000 Or more accurately their speakers weren't capable of playing sound, this video is REALLY QUIET... which sucks because this song is amazing.

  • i think i kno why they arnt as famous as they should be

they arnt very entertaining great songs but lackin that spectatularness

  • @sk8mees so what you are saying is people are shallow, correct?

  • I liked your performance of Schubert Impromptu in F Minor op.142 / 1. You just have felt a romantic rush of this work, especially the middle part (2.30). But I think the sound in the dynamic relations should be smoother. I wish you luck in becoming a musician.

  • @MegaFerens ???

  • this music makes me tired.(not bored)just makes me tired

  • wow !!!

  • Astrology are just crappy predictions

Astronomy is a fact, like the fact that this song is awesome

  • thumbs up if you think Buck Dharma would own God in any sort of rock off!!!

  • @thiswaterisdry He would own even if God and Lou teamed up against him.

  • in my opinion, one of the most underrated band of all times! a great vocalist and an exceptional guitarist in the form of Buck Dharma! Eternal!

  • @stevetyler0506 with out a doubt

  • @stevetyler0506 its not one of the most underrated band. its the most underrated band itself.

  • @stevetyler0506 Youtube -

They Sold Their Souls For Rock And Roll

  • You can tell how emotional Buck gets during his solos because most of the time his eyes are closed. It's like he's escaping into his music. That's what it takes to be a good musician, emotion.

  • "and don't forget my dog, fixed and consequent, astronomy, A STAR" He's talking about the star Sirius, where the angels are from.

  • awesome song and awesome band! great voice. BOC will live in infamy.

  • 3:43 best entrance in a solo EVER

  • Nobody can play any Blue Oyster Cult song the same as Buck Dharma, and Lars Ulrich is not all that great of a drummer now that he doesn't do cocaine anymore. And James' voice hasn't been the same since the Black Album.
