...Mayans, aswell as many other old civilizations like the Sumerians, had a brilliant knowledge (to me, old Egyptians, as we are taught they were, did not). But the alliens possibility shouldn't be omitted and let me explain to you why.
It's simple, these people were a really advanced civilization and it is "logic" to think they were not contaminated by the likes of Abrahamic religious beliefs.
In that case, if they were scientists, maybe what they described as gods were intelligent beings.
@yowyOw69 The Romans and Greeks were not "contaminated" by Abrahamic religions in ancient (B.C.) times, yet they had their own beliefs in different "gods" who ruled different types of worlds. Germanic people in northern Europe had beliefs in gods before coming into contact with Abrahamic religions.
Oh, and all of their 'gods' looked like humans, and not only humans, but Caucasian humans; not big eyed, big skulled, short beings like we see many people today making their "aliens" look like.
you may have offered a solution for how they did but no solution for why they did it. a random fascination with the stars that drove them to build a temple for observing Venus alone rather than putting their energies into building themselves nice houses... is weak imo.
The theory that aliens have visited earth in our past can neither be proven or disproven. So at 9:20 how does the host of this show come to the conclusion that ancient alien visits a "kooky" hypothesis?
@pucksterz12 Because logic would tell me: These supposed aliens, with such advanced technology today, even hundreds of times more advanced than ours, would visit these Mayans only to give them the right angle? Yet not many other types of technology? Including spaceships, flying aircraft, etc.? LOL!
Is it impossible? No. Improbable according to basic logic? Yes.
People that try to say Mayans needed help via aliens only prove they see Maya as inferior of intellect, thus racist and arrogant.
@Northax I agree in almost everything you say except one thing: history has shown us that our basic logic suffers numerous updates and changes the more technology and knowledge we get.
Many times, this logic has denied scientific theories and, even more important, theorems that later have been proven right and now are a "basic" component in our life/knowledge/research (continues).......
@freedomlifee Whoaaa looks like someone read Chariot of teh gods one too many times, although it is very plausible, take the Nazca lines and the figures borne into pastures in Britian for example =P and cave art, we'll never know, if aliens did visit us, they surely wouldnt want to come back xD
@ArtChildMovement u should watch Ancient Aliens S01E02 - The Visitors with an open mind or all of the episodes from begining to end and they are coming out with season3 this fall

The Mayans were the best astronomers of the ancient world, no doubt about it! Not one bit.

i guess we can add "Aliens help the Maya build their civilization" to the history books, since that's what ppl want to believe.
