I don't expect any instrument to play the way I like out of the box and the Squier was no exception - but I like to tinker so it's rarely a problem. The strings it came with were closer to Rotosound in feel than the flatwounds I prefer so they had to go. The neck had too much relief and the action was too high. Fortunately, adjusting the ...

@ZobiLaCheum thats too much for a complement! there's alot of cats that you should listen to other than me.. kenji hino, peter muller.. larry graham, dwyane thomas jr, and lots!!
terrykumar..you are a good player. But i have to be honest..i dont believe you that you have only been practicing for 3years. You say that your self taught. You say you cant read a note of music. You say you cant even read bass tab either.
How stupid do you really think people are??? Plz answer???
Why do you lie???
Ok..tell the truth..how long have you been practicing and how did you really learn???
ive been playing for 3 years, and its true. i practice alot everyday and im pretty much dont go out in real life, most of the time im on the computer, work, or practice bass.
whats important is to have faith in whatever you do, and thats what i do. its not just about what you practice, but how you see it. i think im at the point where i could enjoy whatever i play, feel what i play and play what i feel. and thats important, you know.
i think the key is to listen alot and train your ears. i got to say i got many many flaws in my playing. but what makes it sounds good is that i dont play things that i cant play. its important to know your limitations, whlist not being negative in your ability to improve.
i used to jam with songs, not actually playing them, but jam. but these days with the 2 bands that im in, i got to learn songs.
@terrykumar thanx for the advice terry. you said... "i used to jam with songs but not actually play with them, but jam". What does that mean? I am wondering What is the difference with jamming and playing with songs???
Terry ive noticed that you have a lot of high technique with the way you play bass. These kinds of techniques cannot be learn't by listening to music only. You must have learn't some stuff from instuctional dvd's. Would i be rcorrect???
and im actually a singer, and i think i got good ears (i think close to perfect pitch) and i pretty much can guess how the notes would sound, but i got to admit im lack of knowledge in music theory.

@terrykumar Well your one fine bass player even after only 3 years! Do you mind if i ask "how did you practice" and "what" did you practice"
Do you know all the notes on your fretboard off by heart? Do you know all the scales??
