It's a shame you don't have a recumbent tricycle at your disposal. They keep the rider far more streamlined, would mean no torque steer (rear wheel would be driven), and 3 wheels means no "rocking" on uneven surfaces. Then again, I guess you want more seats. Perhaps you should look into using capacitors instead of batteries. They weigh hardly anything and are good for holding charge for a few hours (or while your in shade). Good job.
That's funny because I am currently shopping for a recumbent trike. I'd like to get one with full suspension and put a Sunpower 315 panel on it. I think it would be a nice rig. Big bucks, though, so more thinking then action right now.
I recently put a Phoenix Racer in place of the Crystalyte 4013 and got the top speed up to almost 20 mph.
