  • was Necrotizing fasciitis desinged? did god just wanna be a dick?Leprosy just another thing he cooked up to be nasty. All the other things that infect and kill us every day..what kind of designer makes things that attack and destroy other things they have designed?

  • what are the chances you could get a collection of morons to believe this bullshit.God is the magic word for ignorance.

  • C. Lyell heavily influencec C. Darwin. Lyell was a lawyer & geologist who had an agenda, to uproot the Mosaic model of creation-the Bible. He said as much, & Darwin knew this. Lyell's theory of uniformitarianism is just as false as evolution is. There're only 2 views on how we got here, creation or evolution. Creation is Biblically based, evolution is humanistic & whole heartedly embraced by all God haters, & liberal "Christian" compromisers. So Lyell's religious bias drove his "science".

  • We're close minded for not believing in a magin man in the sky that grants wishes, as opposed to them being close minded for not accepting evolution as a valid explanation of a specific phenomena that accounts for all the available date. That can be easily be turned around, not to mention it is quite hypocritical of anyone to call someone close minded in this situation.

The mind is like a parachute, it works best when open.

  • I have never seen a scientist mention chance, as an explanation for existence or spontaneous appearance of matter or life.

  • I refuse to believe that we are here by a chain of one-in-billion chance happenings. From the position of the Earth, to the existence of life on Earth.

  • an all powerful, all knowing Creator, doesn't mean that it's not, and probably is, possible!

  • Anything the human mind cannot make sense of is immedietly discarded as foolishness. In the thirteen hundreds, if you were to say that it is possible for a man to walk on the moon, you would have been mocked and regarded as a fool, because such a thing simply could never happen. Now im sure someone, thinking themselves clever, will say something to the effect of; "Well no shit, it WAS impossible back then!" . They are clearly missing the point. The point is, just because we cannot make sense of

  • Last time i checked, scientific theories do not say nothing created something.

    this is one huge strawman

  • I rented this video, going by the description on the store's website. nothing on it about religion and a missing cover picture. i thought it was a critique of the education systems and science. fuck. it's such bs.

  • all of the clever people figures out everything is nothing ages ago. You lot need to go back to the Mr Men

  • dont disagree with Dawkins becuase you dont like his personality. God only exists to prove it's an illusion. If you cant see that you are probably looking with your eyes.

  • "The point is *dramatic pause* you are insignificant." In a universe as vast as the one we exist in, how could we be anything BUT insignificant other than to ourselves? And why would it make our experiences and our emotions any less tangible or personally significant. Being insignificant is nothing to fear.

This kind of drivel is exactly why Dawkins wrote the God Delusion. Every statement in this video has many pages in the book devoted to counter-arguing it.

  • natural selection is not chance. it is precisely what it claims to be: selection.

  • who selected it...?

  • nature. hence natural selection.

  • First off, I am not claiming to know everything, and if you have any dignity or humility I hope you don't either; thus we both have a faith in something. When I look around, I see information, knowledge, structure, intricacy, purpose, plan so from this I come to the conclusion that something much greater then me or anything on this earth was the author and creator of it all. My debate is not about what God I believe in. That is a whole new subject. Please elaborate on your odds argument?

  • why do chrisians always want proff but offer none.why do christains always want to know how you get something from nothing, but have np thinkin an allpowerfull being was created from nothing.then said being went on to create everything but offer again ...no proff. And why do they always think for anything they cant explain they have to insert an all powerfull being

  • I think it is more of a disproving of evolution and the coming to existence form nothing. Please note that the probability of one enzyme to form by chance is 10X1^40000. This number is creator then the number of atoms in the UNIVERSE. This is much much more then improbable. Tell my why it is such a difficult concept to believe something all powerful created you with a plan and a purpose. I would much rather believe that then to believe we are just randomly here and have no hope for anything.

  • well then why beilve in the chritain god why not Thor or islam, and what you would rather belive and the trunth have nothing to do with one another.your other point about the odds the universe can accomidate any odds.

and the something from nothing if that cant not be done how did god do it ,or how did he come to be from nothing.

  • @alltiedup217 Because there is real eye witnesses to Jesus Christ and Scriptures have been tried to be disproved all these years, and yet no one can disprove it. Why? Because it is FACTUAL and have been backed up by scientists. The truth is that people don't want to face up to their own guilt of sin so they leave God out of the equation from the very beginning. This is faulty Science in itself. God also was not created. Everything else has been created.

  • (cont) Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that a design needs a designer and something as complex as this universe is going to happen by chance. Yeah right! Look at a cell of a human being. It is complex and by the way, Darwin said if scientists find that it's more than a simple cell then his theory is not probable. (I'm paraphrasing and don't remember the book that's written in). His theory literally breaks down. The cell complex and scientists can't figure it out still.

  • Where did you find that number representing the odds of an enzyme forming by chance? There are a lot of holes in that but I understand the limitations of a youtube comment box.

My difficulty in believing in a creator is that it doesn't put an end to the search for origin. "God always has been and always will be," is stupidity on a grand scale. Even less sensible than the argument of spontaneous generation of the universe (which is not the theory posited by scientists, anyway).

  • Please note that (10)1^40000=10. To say that number is greater than the number of atoms in the universe is by far one of the most absured statements I have heard. Assuming that the word "creator" is equivalent to the word "greater". To make a baseless comment regarding the probability of an enzyme forming is quiet pointless and that probability given above (unintentionally I hope) is based off of what study ? A plan and a purpose you say ? Do believe are universe is perfect ?

  • @alltiedup217 The proof is in creation and how complex everything really is. Do you really think that a design can come out by chance without a designer? Do you think a watch can make itself? Absurdity. You need to study how complex the universe really is, how about the human body? Check out how the eye works. This can not happen spontaneously and needs a designer. It's more complex than any computer made by human today. Are you telling me then that the universe can come about by chance?

  • @jackiefl1982 sure why not you think the "designer did. you think the eye is a good "design" ? and why do you think it had to be one designer ? why not a race of them, you have no evidence for any of the claims you make. Why can they not happen spontaneously what evidence do you have for any of the stuff your asserting.you don't understand something so you get a god to fill the gaps. Not just any god but your own personal god of the christian bible..silly

  • @alltiedup217 Does it count if I died and seen mine and not any other? What is science to a Christian? What is science? Science: a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws. Therefore why not a prefix to the definition to the Christian which is to study how God did with the study dealing with a body....etc. You do bring a very good point for an open discussion of there being more to man and life.

  • jc, dont know you, but shut up and let your guest talk. You sem to want to tell your story, but when you have a guest, ask great questions and shut up.

  • christians jezz i alwas feel like i gotta wash my hands after shaking their hands

  • All Christians should own a copy of expelled. Ben has done more than anyone to further creation, intelligent design and exposing those that would keep us in the dark. Just buy a copy

  • Ben Stein lies a lot... Spreading this would put us in the dark.

  • sorry bout nope.

    religion I respect.

Jesus told that in the Bible.

    :)

  • In the beginning was the Word. and the Word was with God. and the Word was God. He was the God in the beginning. Jesus Christ is God!

  • its always amazing to see atheism play at being intellectually respectable.

ask a beleiver, ANY believer, where "Truth" lies, and they'll say: olympus, Allah, Vishnu, God, etc.

Ask an atheist the same question, and they don't have an answer.

Its not like Truth can exist on 43rd street, now can it? It must be metaphysical, but since they deny that realm, they are left with a belief system that can't even explain where Truth is.

    pathetic.

  • it's always amazing to see a creationist play at being intellectually respectable.

ask a creationist why they think god made the world and they'll say: god said he did it. he said he did it in a book. and because in the book he said he did it then he did it.

    pathetic

also, I'm an atheist, ask me where truth lies, I'll tell you it lies with proof. conclusive, repeatable physical evidence

  • What's your proof?

  • you know, I'm pretty sure I said it clearly enough. you know, the part about evidence. it's right there

  • don't use atheism as a label for logic they are very different. Its just a stance on one question.

anyways, in science, their is no truth, or absolute truth ever. that is not how science works. All science is is the observation of the world around us and our understanding of how it works based off of those observations. there is no reason to believe in anything outside of this because there is no observable or even obtainable evidence at this present time.

  • they want to call the beginning "nothing" and say that "something" couldn't come from nothing. if their god is something and he is the beginning, didn't he come from nothing? they then go to say that only nothing can come from nothing. so their god is nothing? that's not only blasphemy, that's flawed blasphemy! they're going straight to hell.

  • God is eternal without a beginning. The universe however, cannot be eternal.

  • geee you're smart!!!!!

  • how does that work

you are asserting something without any evidence. how is god eternal, do you have any proof of this.

furthermore why couldn't the universe be eternal in some form.

  • Whats beyond the Physical universe then ?

  • @irun26mi Wow that sounds super convenient for your position.

  • @irun26mi Where did God get the materials to create the universe? How is God eternal?

  • Well said :)

  • @harrisonfong

If nothing could produce something, it would defy everything that we can observe/test/reproduce (science). In that light, something coming from nothing would be a very unscientific statement.

Oh wait... Now they have to change the definition of "science" from "observe" to "assume", and "fact" to "faith" and "observing" to "believing"... Science is now sounding a lot more like religion than many would feel comfortable, I'm sure.

  • nOTHING= the universe we see.

its an amazing claim & non sense.

  • "Random" does not mean without cause, it just means unpredictable. We don't know yet if we can predict results with perfect knowledge because we don't have perfect knowledge.

Lastly, life results from the NONRANDOM SELECTION of randomly variation organisms.

  • There is no chance in a coin toss or a dice roll. The outcome is inevitable when it leaves your hand. because we cannot deterimine in advance, we assign a chance based on possible outcomes. Sprouls strawman arguement is as empty as the clouds are of a God.

  • Who says an atheist accepts chance as an explanation for everything? I as an Atheist believe in a cause and effect universe. Who says that something comes from nothing? Not me. Time is infinite and will be infinite from now. Measurements are infinitesimally small and infinitely large. Sproul invents a supposed arguement from Atheists so he can turn around and bash it.

  • what is the cause

  • What is the cause of what? a ball dropping? A folded rock strata? A chemical reaction? A fusion reaction? A fission reaction? A fossil footprint? A cell splitting, (mitosis or miosis)?

Nobody can cover all causes and effects for all things. For a cause-effect you want an answer look to the scientific methodology to investigate. If you get the answer correct, you may even use the predictable cause-effect relation in a new invention!

Cause and effect determines the state of the universe.

  • @ChelsHamable Exactly. Scientists still can't figure out that one. Truth is they don't want to own up to the nature of sin. Scripture says they are without excuse as creation testifies to the proof of God's existence and God has written it upon their hearts. All they have to look at is the complexity of everything and they would know that it needs a Designer. They won't go there though because then there is a reality of God's true existence.

  • They are just describing how the idea of chance is being used in scholarship currently. Chance cannot come into play even in creatio ex nihilo because chance is not a thing. Therefore, everything that begins to exist must have an origin regressing to a beginning eternal thing unless infinite regression is possible, which I have my reasons for not holding. They are merely stating simple philosophical/epistemological reasons for not banning Intelligent Design Theory in College/University.

  • What does Dr. RC have his doctorate in? Where did he get it from? Liberty University?

  • I think it was theology/philosophy. I don't know where he got it, though.

  • Is Ben Stein supposedly getting interviewed by this schmuck? He won't shut up and let Ben speak. He's as bad as BS with this line of flawed reasoning. No one said "chance" was the "cause"of anything happening.
