your videos are so helpful. im in beauty school at the moment, and your videos have showed me ALOT. I know i have teachers for that, but the way you show how to do the haircuts work so much better for me.
Great vid appreciate it!!! My only ? is when ur client parts on lf or rt, wont one side of ur layers be shorter on opposite part side because that hair has further to travel?
@RyanCharlesPhotog That's a good question. The best thing to do is to really look at the haircut after its dried. Then you can tweak it... and trim it where it need it.
Hi I am doing second year of hairdressing and my first tutor was fantastic but my new tutor now is ....oh welll not good at all and watching your videos make me wish you were my tutor, you do a great job of it. well done keep up the good job. many thanks.
added to favorites, awesome video, you do explain it VERY well. I will have to try your technique the next layers haircut I give. I think blending it will bee much easier, and faster with your method.
Quick question for you, I never have used, or really felt that I should buy and use a cutting collar. Whats good, about them besides making it so you don't accidentally cut the back of the cape with your sheers? I see they have guide lines on them...but I never needed them.
@themancape Sometimes I use the collar sometimes I don't. It does save me a lot of capes. It can be a good way to keep the hair shaving from going down the cape. It is also good to use when the client's hair is sopping wet and you don't want to soak the cape:)
@favatat Thanks for the reply. I hear ya on saving the back of capes from getting cut, though I am always careful with mine. Good point in keeping the hair shaving from getting down their back, to prevent that, I use a terry cloth neck strip instead of the paper neck strips. Any hair near it, sticks to that, and doesn't let it by. Which also doubles as a dry barrier to keep any water still coming down their scalp from going past and onto their cloths. I stick with all purpose capes myself.
i understand the difference between the stationary and traveling guide, but im curious how u know which one to use on the top of her head . sometimes, unless for certain cuts when i really know that i have to overdirect,i get confused on whether or not to use a S.guide or a T.guide.
@sunnydizzle79 You can take a piece from the top section of her crown that has already been cut and use that as your guide for the top of her head. When your unsure, you can over-direct to keep some length and cut more later if needed:)
@stellawella3 I usually start my guide right behind the ear. Then the "guide" becomes a "traveling guide" as you move forward towards the frontal area. I hope I'm making sense:) XO
This is seriously the only good tutorial on YouTube I've found. I've been a barber for 13 years and own a shop in Philly. Girls hair is a little different .. Lol ... I just needed a couple tips on the parting before cutting. Very good video and it helped a lot.
i like it but just saying thats short hair!
