  • My fave!

  • what is the serving size of this dish?

  • How come you add the dry spices at the end after Palak is already added to Masala? I learned to add all the seasoning and spices to masala before the final food ingredients are added so that the food can soak up masala.

  • @twu2009 I think they speak better English and couldprobably spell better than you....

  • Can you please show me how to make cheese crisps on a pan? I tried the recipe they showed on 'Chow' Channel which said 'put cheese on a non stick pan until it gets bubbly' It never did and I ended up with a soft, black piece of cheddar cheese. Only cheddar is available in my area. So please PLEASE show me the recipe.

  • looks good, however, i have heard that palak and tomatoes do not really make a good combination. It is not really healthy if they r cooked together. I know it tastes good, but I try to avoid mixing them together as far as possible.

  • thank you for mentioning the low fat version not only am i trying to eat healthy but i dont have heavy cream at home i only have soy milk imma try it and see if it works

  • @TheGLOSSette : It'll work well. On an everyday basis at home, we use milk and not cream :)

  • I love your other vidx but this-Hope you show the real Palak paneer recipe from the scratch. Frozen spinach doesnt taste as well as fresh so changes the taste.

  • Frozen Spinach and Packaged Paneer bought from a shop? What a sham!! Gujratis trying to cook North Indian food...figures!

  • @sidraghava why don't you get a north indian to cook then instead of bitching about gujis!

  • Frozen Spinach and Packaged Paneer bought from a shop? What a sham!! Gujratis trying to cook North Indian food...figures!

  • Hi please tell me what you call that hand blender. I'd love to get one! Thanks!

  • @cookiecravingperson : It is Braun Hand Blender.

  • I made this tonight, it turned out great!!! Thank you girls : )

  • work on ur english for god's sake

  • @twu2009 they don't need to work on their english... why shud they? they r not americans or british . They r indians.. they r making a video in a foreign language so that non-hindi speakers can understand and learn a recipe. Be thankful instead of pointing out at negatives. Learn to be and see positive.

  • @sweetythebest they are american :(

  • mmmm....i ate palak paneer today...what a coincidence...its my favorite dish...have u guys ever heard about palak paratha??it is chapati with palak filled inside..it is much tastier than palak paneer...

  • @swati8286

heyy...no need of telling me the recipe ..i am an indian...

  • warm it up in the microwave haha

  • Stop saying go ahead every 30 seconds!!!!

  • Thanks..wonderful recipe....

  • Thank you for posting this! And in defense of microwaving, I read an article that showed spinach loses more nutrient on the stove than in the mirowave!

  • @TheShrutibhatnagar : We have a Sarson ka Saag recipe on our website and on the youtube channel.

  • Hi, can u please teach us how to cook Palak Ka Saag??

  • Spinach + Paneer + Tomatoes + Onions + Garlic + Ginger + other Indian Spices (including curry, red chili, cumin, coriander, turmeric, Garam Masala) = WIN!!! What's NOT to love?!? nom nom nom :-)

  • can u pls show me how to make a mawa (khawa)

  • Listen this lady (Hetal) who have a fake accent saying PANEEEAARR.. Instead of Paneer..... LOL :). I know my comment if gonna be marked as spam soon :))

  • thnaks

my wife is in india and i m alone in canada

by ur recipe i could make my favorite palak paneer

    thanks again

  • thanks, girls.

    you girls are HOT!!!

  • Absolutely perfect!! Make sure everyone follows your homemade paneer recipe, too. Now I want to try all of your recipes. Great, just great!! Thank you. Sai Ram

  • you are technically trying to cook, however, cooking is not all about recipe... it think, if you cover the lid, while frying onions, you will generate water in fried onions which will oozee out water, not good for your food. spoils the taste.

  • oh no.. don't cook food in the microwave just because its fast!! microwave is not for food. its for heating up a cup of milk, butter or tea or making some popcorn at the most... but not foooood, and specially not the spinach which is one of my favourite dishes. u are killing its soul!!!

  • your audio quality when zoomed out over the counter has a lot of feedback and ambient noise, or your rendering of the video has messed it up a bit... consider turning off your ventilation system while recording, or using a mic

  • Thank you for the recipe. I tried it out. I did make a few adjustments. I used 1/2 fresh kale, 1/2 fresh spinach and tried out the condensed milk rather than cream. I found it a bit bland. I tried adding some extra spice and a ton of salt... I think the cream just might make the dish. Other than that it was quite good.

  • Condensed milk is usually very sweet so it might have added too much sweetness to this dish.

  • I tried the dish and found it quite bland. Perhaps it would be better to add spices at the beginning instead in the end of cooking process.

  • I'm sorry, it wasn't condensed milk, it was evaporated. I think it might have been the kale- perhaps I needed more spice of savoriness. I tried adding an additional teaspoon of some curry powder and garlic powder, but it's still kind of bland. Do you think using fresh spinach and kale might have made it extra watery?

  • No, I'm not. I'm jut someone that reads and does my research before posting negative comments that are based in science fiction...

  • you were saying that people throw the water in cooking spinach..so lost of nutritions..but..what about microwave???

Microwaving food kills all the nutritions food has:)

microwave creates heat...but such a high frequency radiations are obviously harmfull for us..

  • Comment removed

  • u seem to have lots of time to do research on "comments" and barge into someone else's communication. I expect the author to communicate with me. So please stay away.

  • @pratschie all wives tales

  • What about the nitrates you pour away with the cookingwater, isn't it very usefull to cook it the classic way?

  • Please equalize your mic outputs, you have way too much on the upper end of frequencies, hard on the ears.

  • We are working on improving the sound quality. Hopefully, you'll see a difference in our newer videos.

  • You can always use the stove-top and cook the spinach. We try to speed-up the process by microwaving. It cooks faster and retains it wonderful green color.

    Have a fantastic day!

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Thanks for this recipe! I love palak paneer and will definitely try this out!!

For the viewer who's very against microwave, yes, some radiation is bad for you but microwave radiation is non-ionizing (unlike x-ray or UV light) so it does not cause cancer. You probably get more radiation using a cell phone or a radio.

Microwave is most definitely a tool for cooking food, not just heating it up. I use it to steam veggie and fish, such a time saver!

  • I agree - in the next sentence they talk about losing vitamins by draining the spinach water. They are obviously clueless about what a microwave does to nutrients.

  • Hello,

I was wondering wheather or not I could substitute cottage cheese for the paneer?

    Thanks!

  • Though many people refer to paneer as cottage cheese, it is very different than the cottage cheese you get at American supermarkets -- which is a bit watery.

  • They recently discovered that microwaving properly loses less nutrition than conventional methods, especially boiling.

I love your recipes. My entire family does.

  • At 1:30 you mention losing the nutrition and vitamins from the spinach. but then you microwave it... surprisingly few people know this, but microwaving actually kills the nutritional value of what you're cooking.

  • Only partially true. Some vitamins are heat sensitive true, but you'd actually degrade them more if cooked on a stove than in a microwave because of the much higher heat on a stove and longer cooking time. The microwaves do nothing more than produce heat by rotating water molecules.

  • I am normally put butter in pan than palak and cook it for few min. so dont loose anything and also palak color also stay green.

  • We are always trying to cut down of oils and fats, hence the shortcut.

You are right, adding in oil or butter does help retain a little more of the green.

  • can this be made without heavy cream?

  • Yes, you can substitute milk.

  • This was absolutely delicious! Thanks for the great video!

  • very nice recipe

  • is this like saag paneer? i love saag paneer...

  • Saag paneer is made with a combination of spinach leaves and mustard greens.

  • Is there any alternative for paneer that I can buy easily from a supermarket? There is no indian store around?

  • Tofu is a good alternative though you will not get the exact texture of paneer.

  • Oh, I hated palak paneer with tofu. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if I'd marinaded it in something overnight.

  • great for the low carb diet where you can consume the cream . Thankyou for recipe.

  • can't you find another job cooking in US, I bet you won't do this on tv in India.

  • cooking in the microwave it so much unhealthier than doing it the normal way.. you kill all the prana in the food

  • That is not true at all. In fact it cooks in shortest amount of time it leaves the prana.

  • no.. not in the microwave

  • that's not for Spinach and Broccli or veggies in that category because sometimes you tend to overcook and put a lot of water that decrease the value. Yes if you reheat many times that is not good.

  • Is Paneer the same as Tofu?

  • no.. its cottage cheese made from milk

  • Ah, thank you.

  • I made this with homemade paneer, my husband was SO happy!

  • I loved the recipe. but, can you please tell me which compny masala r you guys using... as there are lot of options.....also we you can name the company on each episode...please.... so that I dont take a risk of getting it wrong ....PLEASE...THANK YOU...

  • Hi Aneja,,

Do the dry spices have to go after spinach is added?I dont know,, to me it felt like eating raw dry spices..... Can we put dry spices after onions and let them cook for sometime in oil?

  • Comment removed

  • there is no difference between "palak paneer" and "saag paneer" right? On wikipedia it was saying something confusing

  • Actually, palak paneer is made with only spinach and saag paneer has a mix of spinach and mustard leaves. The authentic dish is called Sarson ka Saag (mustard greens) but saag paneer is more of the restaurant version.

  • If I wanted to make saag paneer would I just need to make a few changes to this recipe or should I request another video? :)

  • i didnt know that. Thanks. I like it better with mustard greens. A few weeks ago, my grocer was out of mustard, and I bought something else (can't remember), but it was NASTY! It was like ammonia.

  • Wow you both are amazing!! I love all your recipes and I must tell you I have tried many recipes from your website and they all turned out delicious.

What is this cream that you are adding in this recipe? Is it the same as the regular whipping cream or something else like half and half? I have a tin of whipping cream that you use in desserts but that's not liquidy like this one.

You may think this is silly but trust me I just started to learn cooking a few months back LOL...

  • It looks like pure cream to me... but it wouldn't really make much difference, like they said, you can use skim or whole milk, cream, or even evaporated milk.(not condensed milk but!!). If I didn't happen to have any of them, I'm sure even yoghurt would do the trick. Just give it a go... I reckon I might give this one a go!!

  • im a filipino who loves to learn indian cooking...i wanted to learn a recipe that is best pair with battura..thanks

  • You can try our "Chole a la Easy" recipe. It is a garbanzo bean curry and a perfect combo to batura.

  • please make biryani, i want to learn how to make it.

  • We have videos for Vegetable Biryani and Chicken Biryani.

    Go to our website

    ShowMeTheCurry (dot) com

go to the tab 'Rice Dishes' and you'll find these and many more.

  • thanks :)

  • this is my new favourite show. I love that the recipes are accessible and come with health tips!!!

  • It is called Cottage Cheese.......

  • paneer ko englis miem kya kahate hai?

  • Homemade cheese or sometimes cottage cheese. However, the cottage cheese available at American grocery stores is not the same as paneer.

  • so if u use 2% milk instead of cream.....how much milk would u use?

  • You can use as much as you like to get the consistency you prefer. A little more or less will not do any damage.

  • okay, and thanks for the lovely videos....i love Indian food and starting to learn to make the dishes. Can't wait to try the curry chicken next. Thanks again!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love your videos! I have a question, though. I got a very large bunch of beets, with the beet greens. Can I use beet greens for palak paneer? I guess it wouldn't really be 'palak' paneer anymore. Are beet greens used in Indian cuisine? What would you do with them?

  • Lovely and delicious looking recipe!!! thanks a lot for sharing:-)

  • I love your show! The hosts are so charming and sweet. After watching another person's recipe on Youtube I think your version is much more realistic for my household--I'm always looking for healthier recipes. Thanks for the tip on using evaporated milk; I never would have thought of that.

  • I am making this today, my masala is on the stove and i am getting ready to fry the paneer. My house smells like a regular desi's home...I LOVE IT!!!! hehehehehe I will post a comment on how it turned out tomorrow! :) Thanks!

  • Is paneer like tofu?

  • Paneer looks a lot like tofu, but it is made from milk fat whereas tofu is made from soybeans. The texture is also different. If you are looking for a healthier option, then you could substitute tofu for paneer. The taste/texture will be a little different, but it still tastes good. Be sure to pan fry the tofu until golden brown before putting it in the spinach.

  • what do you eat palak paneer with?

  • Palak paneer is typically eaten with some type of Indian bread (naan, chapati, paratha, etc). It also goes well with plain white Basmati rice or a simple pullav.

  • Hello Hetal & Anuja,

Thank you for the wonderful recipe. Please can you tell me how you minced the onion so finely? I have a kitchen aid 12 cup processor, but none of the blades are mentioned for the purpose of mincing! Please advise!!

    Thanks in advance

  • We have used the chopper blade to mince the onions. So use your chopping blade and chope the onions for a while.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you very much for your reply! I will try doing it by a chopper blade. initially it will not turn out to be proper, but after a few times i guess i might get it correct :-)

    Thanks!

  • Ecxellent--thank you for this. You've really taken the mystique out of Indian cooking. I just made this and I can't stop eating it!

  • I dont know why do u need 2 people to cook One dish?? Can one person make this dish!!!

  • You don't need 2 people to make this dish or any other of our recipes. This is the format of our show so that we can have some conversation.

  • arhhh so now I know how this is done...although i used fresh spinach par-boiled and then minced as I could not find frozen spinach, as weird as that sounds

  • Hey i really liked the idea of putting the paneer in water after frying them. They do tend to get hard after frying. Hope it works out for me! Great video!

  • Can I use yogurt for cream substitue?

  • Milk is a better option. Never tried yogurt and if you do, let us know how it turns out.

  • Can i use tofu instead of paneer

  • absolutely, you can use tofu...it has a different taste but good.

  • If you substitue 2% milk for the heavy cream how much do you use?

  • Add half cup of milk...it is a great healthy alternative.

  • i am from turkey and i like indian food but i did not know how to cook.i am very happy to find this page.your recepies are very clear and your talking so i can understand easly.thank you to share your recepies with us.

  • I love Indian food & this is one of my very favorite dish to eat. Thxs for this video.

  • who did the video editing?

  • can u use sour cream for this dish bcus i usually substitute the cream with the sour cream

  • You can substitute sour cream but sour cream has of course a little sour flavor instead of the mild cream flavor. It definitely will not spoil the dish, but you will notice the change in flavor. You will get the end effect...creaminess! You might have to add some water or milk to thin it down, though.

  • omg that is my fave!!!! i luv u 2!!!! amazing

  • can u substitute the cream with dairy or soymilk?

  • absolutely...some very good substitutes are Evaporated Milk (regular or low-fat), Lactaid, Soymilk, Milk (skim, 2percent or whole).

Check out our website for health tips below ssome of the recipes at

    ShowMeTheCurry dot com

    Enjoy

  • Following your recipe we are now enjoying the delicious "palak paneer". The tip of soaking the "paneer" was the best, it turned very soft and made it absorb the flavors of the "palak". This was better than some indian restaurants I had this dish before! BTW I am learning some hindi words too, thanks a lottttt

  • Thank you, One of my favotite dishes. But I

still haven't found the perfect taste with palak paneer. But i am going to give your way a go. Hope that will be close to the taste i am looking for.

  • Excellent! Yum! Thank-you, lovely ladies, for the Video Response and tasty recipe for one of my favorite foods! 8-)

  • looks good ladies!i learn so much from your videos

  • How lovely! Will there ever be a tour with you guys bringing some spice...like say...in New Orleans?
