Can you please show me how to make cheese crisps on a pan? Only cheddar is available in my area. So please PLEASE show me the recipe.
looks good, however, i have heard that palak and tomatoes do not really make a good combination. It is not really healthy if they r cooked together. I know it tastes good, but I try to avoid mixing them together as far as possible.
thank you for mentioning the low fat version not only am i trying to eat healthy but i dont have heavy cream at home i only have soy milk imma try it and see if it works

Thank you for posting this! And in defense of microwaving, I read an article that showed spinach loses more nutrient on the stove than in the mirowave!
Spinach + Paneer + Tomatoes + Onions + Garlic + Ginger + other Indian Spices (including curry, red chili, cumin, coriander, turmeric, Garam Masala) = WIN!!! What's NOT to love?!? nom nom nom :-)
Listen this lady (Hetal) who have a fake accent saying PANEEEAARR.. Instead of Paneer..... LOL :). I know my comment if gonna be marked as spam soon :))
Absolutely perfect!! Make sure everyone follows your homemade paneer recipe, too. Now I want to try all of your recipes. Great, just great!! Thank you. Sai Ram
you are technically trying to cook, however, cooking is not all about recipe... it think, if you cover the lid, while frying onions, you will generate water in fried onions which will oozee out water, not good for your food. spoils the taste.
oh no.. don't cook food in the microwave just because its fast!! microwave is not for food. its for heating up a cup of milk, butter or tea or making some popcorn at the most... but not foooood, and specially not the spinach which is one of my favourite dishes. u are killing its soul!!!
your audio quality when zoomed out over the counter has a lot of feedback and ambient noise, or your rendering of the video has messed it up a bit... consider turning off your ventilation system while recording, or using a mic
Thank you for the recipe. I tried it out. I did make a few adjustments. I used 1/2 fresh kale, 1/2 fresh spinach and tried out the condensed milk rather than cream. I found it a bit bland. I tried adding some extra spice and a ton of salt... I think the cream just might make the dish. Other than that it was quite good.
I'm sorry, it wasn't condensed milk, it was evaporated. I think it might have been the kale- perhaps I needed more spice of savoriness. I tried adding an additional teaspoon of some curry powder and garlic powder, but it's still kind of bland. Do you think using fresh spinach and kale might have made it extra watery?
u seem to have lots of time to do research on "comments" and barge into someone else's communication. I expect the author to communicate with me. So please stay away.
You can always use the stove-top and cook the spinach. We try to speed-up the process by microwaving. It cooks faster and retains it wonderful green color.
@ShowMeTheCurry Thanks for this recipe! I love palak paneer and will definitely try this out!!
For the viewer who's very against microwave, yes, some radiation is bad for you but microwave radiation is non-ionizing (unlike x-ray or UV light) so it does not cause cancer. You probably get more radiation using a cell phone or a radio.
Microwave is most definitely a tool for cooking food, not just heating it up. I use it to steam veggie and fish, such a time saver!
I agree - in the next sentence they talk about losing vitamins by draining the spinach water. They are obviously clueless about what a microwave does to nutrients.
Though many people refer to paneer as cottage cheese, it is very different than the cottage cheese you get at American supermarkets -- which is a bit watery.
At 1:30 you mention losing the nutrition and vitamins from the spinach. but then you microwave it... surprisingly few people know this, but microwaving actually kills the nutritional value of what you're cooking.
Only partially true. Some vitamins are heat sensitive true, but you'd actually degrade them more if cooked on a stove than in a microwave because of the much higher heat on a stove and longer cooking time. The microwaves do nothing more than produce heat by rotating water molecules.
that's not for Spinach and Broccli or veggies in that category because sometimes you tend to overcook and put a lot of water that decrease the value. Yes if you reheat many times that is not good.
I loved the recipe. but, can you please tell me which compny masala r you guys using... as there are lot of options.....also we you can name the company on each episode...please.... so that I dont take a risk of getting it wrong ....PLEASE...THANK YOU...
Do the dry spices have to go after spinach is added?I dont know,, to me it felt like eating raw dry spices..... Can we put dry spices after onions and let them cook for sometime in oil?
Actually, palak paneer is made with only spinach and saag paneer has a mix of spinach and mustard leaves. The authentic dish is called Sarson ka Saag (mustard greens) but saag paneer is more of the restaurant version.
i didnt know that. Thanks. I like it better with mustard greens. A few weeks ago, my grocer was out of mustard, and I bought something else (can't remember), but it was NASTY! It was like ammonia.
Wow you both are amazing!! I love all your recipes and I must tell you I have tried many recipes from your website and they all turned out delicious.
What is this cream that you are adding in this recipe? Is it the same as the regular whipping cream or something else like half and half? I have a tin of whipping cream that you use in desserts but that's not liquidy like this one.
You may think this is silly but trust me I just started to learn cooking a few months back LOL...
It looks like pure cream to me... but it wouldn't really make much difference, like they said, you can use skim or whole milk, cream, or even evaporated milk.(not condensed milk but!!). If I didn't happen to have any of them, I'm sure even yoghurt would do the trick. Just give it a go... I reckon I might give this one a go!!
okay, and thanks for the lovely videos....i love Indian food and starting to learn to make the dishes. Can't wait to try the curry chicken next. Thanks again!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love your videos! I have a question, though. I got a very large bunch of beets, with the beet greens. Can I use beet greens for palak paneer? I guess it wouldn't really be 'palak' paneer anymore. Are beet greens used in Indian cuisine? What would you do with them?
I love your show! The hosts are so charming and sweet. After watching another person's recipe on Youtube I think your version is much more realistic for my household--I'm always looking for healthier recipes. Thanks for the tip on using evaporated milk; I never would have thought of that.
I am making this today, my masala is on the stove and i am getting ready to fry the paneer. My house smells like a regular desi's home...I LOVE IT!!!! hehehehehe I will post a comment on how it turned out tomorrow! :) Thanks!
Paneer looks a lot like tofu, but it is made from milk fat whereas tofu is made from soybeans. The texture is also different. If you are looking for a healthier option, then you could substitute tofu for paneer. The taste/texture will be a little different, but it still tastes good. Be sure to pan fry the tofu until golden brown before putting it in the spinach.
Palak paneer is typically eaten with some type of Indian bread (naan, chapati, paratha, etc). It also goes well with plain white Basmati rice or a simple pullav.
Thank you for the wonderful recipe. Please can you tell me how you minced the onion so finely? I have a kitchen aid 12 cup processor, but none of the blades are mentioned for the purpose of mincing! Please advise!!
Thank you very much for your reply! I will try doing it by a chopper blade. initially it will not turn out to be proper, but after a few times i guess i might get it correct :-)
arhhh so now I know how this is done...although i used fresh spinach par-boiled and then minced as I could not find frozen spinach, as weird as that sounds
Hey i really liked the idea of putting the paneer in water after frying them. They do tend to get hard after frying. Hope it works out for me! Great video!
i am from turkey and i like indian food but i did not know how to cook.i am very happy to find this page.your recepies are very clear and your talking so i can understand easly.thank you to share your recepies with us.
You can substitute sour cream but sour cream has of course a little sour flavor instead of the mild cream flavor. It definitely will not spoil the dish, but you will notice the change in flavor. You will get the end effect...creaminess! You might have to add some water or milk to thin it down, though.
Following your recipe we are now enjoying the delicious "palak paneer". The tip of soaking the "paneer" was the best, it turned very soft and made it absorb the flavors of the "palak". This was better than some indian restaurants I had this dish before! BTW I am learning some hindi words too, thanks a lottttt
My fave!
