  • Penderecki..nie ma miejsca na świecie, gdzie nie znajdziesz Polaka...;)

  • thank you for this! i love this music.. it makes you think about everything we don't know about and how its still just there

  • No one noticed the image slightly gets larger as the music plays.

  • @tachirsint : How do you know no one noticed?

  • after this everything else seems frivolous and clumsy

  • Nothing, n o t h i n g disturbs my mind more than music of this kind. I feel like a forsaken repressed darker side of me struggles against me, which is, I think, why it scares me so. I think it is fascinating. man, Penderecki's a genius.

  • Omg @ 3:45

    o.o

  • is this the music tha plays in your head when your insane? I like it, i like it

  • I find this very difficult to masturbate to.

  • insane perfecto

  • cthulu, is as mysterious, intriguing and terrifying as this music is and fantastic

  • cthulu, is as mysterious, intriguing and terrifying as this music is.

  • FANTÁSTICO, PENDERECKI ES EL GRAN COMPOSITOR DEL SIGLO XX

  • What's with all the Cthulu comments?

  • At the end it remember me the bad spirit crying.......

  • This is perfect for Halloween.

  • It's all just sound. Why don't people get it?

  • @gwalkron Whether you like it or not, dissonance is a musical element as well.

  • @xLinaChansDEADx Of course it is. But it's all just sound[s].

  • @gwalkron quit yer bitchin'

  • @jfleminator I'm not bitchin'. All I'm saying is that this, like all other music, is simply vibrating air molecules: yet some people appear not to like it. Quite how anyone can mistakenly deduce that I don't like it from my previous statements is baffling. *Shrugs*.

  • @Foobitz Uses??? USES???!!!!! Why does it need to have a use? USE! I "use" this music to make my universe more awesome. Good enough?

  • where's the picture from?!

  • The compression artifacts in the video are mesmerizing as well.

  • Comment removed

  • Penderecki isn't necessarily scary music, sort of limited, thinking that way. This could easily accompany some inventive nature video or an abstract animation, or even an old-school martial arts demonstration by monks (not that flashy TV stuff). People's first reaction to dissonant music is to say it's horror movie music, and I suppose it's great for that too, but there's other uses. Just sayin

  • @Foobitz Agree.

  • @Foobitz People fear minimalism look at what happened to Stravinsky......

  • I love Penderecki... but the yelling at the end scared the crap out of me.

  • Beautiful !

    Thanks

  • can you send me the original mp3? obscura.oquedad@hotmail.es

  • NOW I SEE WHERE THE PRODIGY TAKE OUT THE INTRO FOR THEIR "OMEN" SONG

  • y el coro?

  • I like the ~scary photo~ of von Karman vortices. Watch out guys that air's going around a cylinder!!

  • @AbysmalPea2 Your vivid description of such a horrifying event made me poop myself a little.

  • @AbysmalPea2 Fluid dynamics are some creepy shit, y'know.

  • Time & silence is what i need

  • grrrr. what do you mean?

    i'm still freaking out!

  • You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone

  • Where did you find this recording?

  • @nicodagger. Theres a Sunday dinner with mum that would be accompanied by music more chilling than this? Serious?

  • I heard this live, performed with the man himself conducting at NUIM. Jealous?!? :P

  • @tuxy56 oh yea, man. jealous beyond belief. this is music as pure emotion. Penderecki has awesome and unending layers

  • haha what is up with the cthulhu references? i guess its an adequate soundtrack to His Arrival

  • fsdhfiopsaHOdfjawe oij THIS IS AWSOME fasnjdasooiaoso !!

  • That was frightening :)

  • iI'm gonna put this on my iPod in my "Quadruple Dimensional Transcendence/Hyper-Trance" playlist

  • I really love listen Penderecki pieces at the middle of the night !

  • This perfectly encapsulates Sunday dinner with my mother.

  • @socksandpistols That good? You are quite lucky.

  • This is really Creative!, From the title I inspired and imagined a lot

  • A little tip for anyone watching this. Form your mouth into a small circle, and begin to whistle Now hum at the same time by forcing air through your throat. Now wave your hand around while craning and twisting your neck. Now jump up and begin to pace around in a circle. Count to four, every time you get to three, stop whistling, clap, and say 'dreewelzelbungle' before resuming whistling and humming.

Or, simply listen to this music for same effect.

  • @witness124 or take some mushroom and listen to this song and just fokin fly high like shit !

  • Penderecki's music grabs you by the throat and throttles the piss out of you. I can't even imagine what a disaster the sheet music for his songs would look like.

  • This is great. I don't know why I like Penderecki, but I do. Thanks for this.

  • @athb4hu i think the appeal has something to do with being so clearly out of the realm of bullshit, and back in rhythms the mind recognizes from primordial memory or types of intense experiences and contemplations. i'm reminded of the first section of 2001 space odyssey for instance, the push and pull and random tension of early social interactions, face to face with your species without a real way to verify what anyone is going to do next, could be violent, could be more of the same tension.

  • @tyrannicoystercult Very way out, but definitely not bullshit.

  • are those solar storms??

  • Writing science fiction seems to go beautifully with this.

  • uh what are srings? some crazy Pendereckian invention? Love his tickytacky sounds

  • I cant stop staring at it

  • Penderecki =new dimensions, don't get the scary bit.Actually I often listen to his works in bed.

  • Penderecki =new dimensions, don't get the scary bit.

  • I don't see what is so scary or whatever about this. Be a man like me, Turn it on as you go to bed.

  • Cthulhu r'lyeh fhtagn!

  • @HaraldMustafah zalgo

  • @alxsoad I think that the album Necronomicon by Nox Arcana fits better with that motif. It is rather disturbing, you have been warned.

  • @Actar411 - I went and listened. I SEVERELY regret it. SEVERELY.

  • @zeroblackstar 'Tis dark. I warned you though.

  • I have a hankering to watch The Twilight Zone, now.

  • Ye Gods!!! What is this horrible noise! I love it!

  • Reminds me of Edgar Varèse

  • a bit too abstract for me

  • Deeply perturbing Penderecki: GREAT !!!

  • who is the painter of the picture ?

  • @GrauenausderTiefe i think its an actual photograph of sun spots...

  • hypnotic, at times disturbing, sublime...ubiquitous in nature... this would fit very well into film scores such as Eraserhead or 1984.

  • not my cup of tea

  • Mr Penderecki deserves a cookie for most shit-your-pants inducing songs compsoed by one man. :P

  • FUCK YOU PENDERECKI

  • Thus spake McSqueaky.

  • I can't help but look over my shoulder...just in case...

  • Forgive me for commenting twice, but I found the source of the picture thanks to a few minutes of random clicking on Wikipedia. The background image is an image of the Kármán vortex street in some clouds of the coast of Chile near the Juan Fernandez Islands.

Awesome song by the way. <3 Penderecki.

  • disturbing.

  • while listening to this song, i had a sudden urge to hide under my desk, coz i was almost sure dat some alien was observing me the whole time

  • @Ardie83 Its not an owl.

  • @vect0rwolf haha... owl..

  • wat.

  • People think that this is only appealing when you're high? I've never been high, yet this piece is transcendent.

  • Comment removed

  • WOW

  • tremendo...

  • This reminds me of Bruno Coulais' music in the final act of 'Coraline'.

  • I love this guys stuff, so atonal and emotive. I listen to a lot of "dark" music, but this guys song about Hiroshima was one of the few songs I've ever heard that actually made me feel uneasy. Does anyone have any more recommendations for stuff like this?

  • wow! it´s so poor, that it is poor!

  • 1 of Frank Zappa's favorite composers. Jerry Goldsmith may have been influenced too, the soundtrack to the 1st ALIEN film is dark and eerie.

  • try listening to this while trying to sleep! thats an experience!

  • All together now....

  • It is interesting to know the Penderecki's experimental trend... but I can not listen that for more than 10 minutes... an experimental piece is like a research paper... published and then... what is next?

  • @chuspita2009 "...and then what is next?" More experiments. More research. It never ends.

  • I am sorry, but i only find this song irritating. Guess this just isn't my thing.

  • @onetime1212123 That's great, faggot.

  • @Bodycage Excuse me, but why are you talking shit when i was simply expressing my opinion? Please, get the fuck out.

  • @onetime1212123 Take your own advice and stick to your kiddy music. Shh, the adults are discussing grown up music, faggol. Own'd.

  • @Bodycage I am afraid adults don't use the term's "faqgol" Own'd" First of all it is spelled "faggot" moron. Don't kid yourself. Adult my ass. Anyway, i am done typing completely redundant messages to a twelve year old that is insistent on fighting over the internet over a song just because someone doesn't find it to their taste.

Very much so in fact, you can play this to all the adults you like, this song is only appealing when you are high. Even then it sucks ass. Final comment. Bye. *laughs*

  • @onetime1212123 Fuck you, Faggol.

  • Bloody hell this creeps me out, I've never heard such intuitive use of instruments used to make me shit myself

  • This is what nightmares sound like.

  • The laughing... ;A;

  • Does anyone else think that Tool used Penderecki's music at 1:20 for the beginning of their song "Pushit"? To me, they sound identical.

  • @36Thoughtless Yes, exactly the same. I guess Tool has more secrets than i thought. It's great that you noticed it, i'm sure fans of Tool trivia would rejoice and fall under some mystical spells, trying to connect Penderecki and Tool :D .

  • i have a theory of ghost and dimensions...i think that, while were in our dimmension, we overlap time and dimensions with another dimension so that the people in other dimensions appear as ghosts, and when our dimensions go back to normal they disappear. for example, someone could be walking in there home, and a dimension would over lap and they would appear seeing other dimensions and they would be the ghost seeing other ppl

  • @blodygi very interesting

  • @blodygi that is a great theory

  • @blodygi

    What.

  • Herausragend!!

  • People would think I'm insane if they knew I listened to this for recreational purposes.

  • @Emanresu56: I think you just have good taste :-D Penderecki's not even on my list of favorites (I'm more into, say, Messiaen), and I still dig his music. There's so much going on to listen to.

  • @Emanresu56 i do to and some!!!on complete dark even!!!!!!!!!LOUD!!!!!

  • @Emanresu56

Could it be worse, you could be boring!

  • @Emanresu56 I do it ^^

  • if the whole thing isn't on why don't you just make a part 2? it would be nice to hear the whole thing.

  • remonds me of early tangerine dream

  • My music history teacher initated our class by shutting off the lights and playing this piece full blast....i'm scarred.

  • @dancinginthestreet1: I've always wanted to start a music appreciation class that way, except with Mahler II, mvt. 5.

  • I love my imagination. I really do. it thinks up all sorts of wierd things. Although I scare myself a bit too much.

  • I imagine that if Hell exists, they would play this piece of music there...

however, I quite like this piece :)

  • Qué atmósferas tan interesantes crea este hombre!

    Es un genio!

  • @HitlersJewBakery Just assuming you've tried? I was considering it, and you're timing is eerie...

  • Fear in music form.

  • I'm shakin' here, man, this stuff creeps me out at like 3:45. Agh!!!

  • aaaah

  • death has a song now

  • this is amazing.

  • This man's mission in life is to make me shit my pants.

IF YOU HAVE SYNESTHESIA, DON'T LISTEN TO HIS WORK ALONE.

  • @Spellcaster94, I have actually experienced synthesia my entire life, but I love this kind of music (among my very favorite) so I feel it's condusive to that kind of thing.

  • @CodyRicheson Its entirely a matter of opinion i think. Depends what you like to see. Its too blue for my tastes.

But hey, nice to hear of someone else on youtube with synesthesia! I'm actually working on a documentary about it.

  • @Spellcaster94

It sounds more grayish and metallic then blue for me.

  • @vaguelyhumanoid well I'm sure it varies per person.

Someone should get a whole bunch of synesthetes in one room and have them listen to same piece.

By the end of it we'd have like, a million works of abstract art.

  • @Spellcaster94

Have you ever drawn music to reflect how you see it?

  • @Spellcaster94 GODDAMMIT I'M RUNNING OUT OF PANTS TO CHANGE INTO!

  • @666Anata That's what God invented the washing machine for, silly.

  • @Spellcaster94

    LMAO!

  • @Spellcaster94

I have synesthesia and some of his works actually look like monsters hiding in the darkness.

  • @Spellcaster94 Or what.

  • Then "Time" by Pink Floyd. Wrong ?

  • One of the most revolutionary composers of te XXth century.

  • its so intense!!! at the 7:50 sort of area! man, i love this, and all his work!!

  • Ok, now I know where Pink Floyd's Echoes and Saucerful of Secrets came from. :P

  • Penderecki's music is a lot like Ligeti's music except Ligeti is more experimental while Penderecki is more old fashioned. No matter what, it's great music!!!

  • the voices made me shit myself

  • this music move me into other universe its just amazing!

  • By the way, what the fuck is that picture of?

  • It resembles me a photograph negative with some galaxies.

  • It's a drawing of an owl and a frog.

  • hahaha madness

  • No they were/are a ska band and look nothing like this. LOL

  • Yeah, I see it.

  • @tonynoyes dimensions of time and silence

  • @tonynoyes

    maybe sunspots

    tnij . org / sunspots

  • @tonynoyes you're mom

  • @tonynoyes picture is for people who dont understund this music

  • @tonynoyes I think it's and artists interpretation of a wormhole

  • @witness124 Judging by the film grain, I don't think this is a picture. It kind of looks like an old film of sunspots.

  • @MyChemicalBromance You can get that effect on Windows Movie Maker or iMovie too XD

  • @spockezri i cant think of anything other than sunspots that would look like that, and the little jiggy motion is probably just an effect

  • The one on the left looks like a growing mushroom

  • Comment removed

  • @tonynoyes I think it's a picture of two galaxies colliding with each other...

  • @cafity Actually, if you look up the picture on the wikipedia page, you'll notice that it's the same picture, but tilted on it's side. The caption on the page says it's a type of wind vortex in the clouds.

  • @tonynoyes are sun spots

  • @tonynoyes:

It's the vent for a hot spring.

  • @tonynoyes galatic collision
