  • It's in the book Fragile Things, a collection of short stories and poems.

  • He came to the University of Alabama last week to spent time with us and read a bit. I'd never heard his stuff before... Now, I can get enough of his work, lol. LOVE THIS so much.<3

  • just a question.. if anybody knows.. this is a book... or only a poem... because ive been searching for the book but nothing..

  • @cheese2118 It's a book. It's called fragile things I hope you find it It's great.

  • It's just a poem, but there's a short story that links in with it. I don't remember what it's called, though :/

  • Trust dreams. Trust your heart, and trust your story. When you come back, return the way you came. Favors will be returned, debts will be repaid. Do not forget your manners.

Do not look back. -- Lovely (:

  • His voice reminds me of snape. :)

  • I love this poem and he's a fantastic reader. I want a little Neil Gaiman that I can keep in my bedside drawer and that will tell me stories every night before I go to sleep.

  • "Trust your story" His poem was entrancing!

  • I met Neil not that long ago! It was when there was an author week thing going on in my town, and he came to do a talk there! I really think he is responsible in some way for all my favourite books and films.

  • I really enjoyed Fragile Things, too, though.

  • This guy is such a kick-ass author. American Gods is awsome

  • Sigh. I still find him incredibly hot.

  • What an inspiration! Any aspiring writer would be hard-pressed to find a better role model (in this particular realm of fiction, any way...)

  • I have such a huge intellectual crush on Mr. Gaiman. I'd kill to be that talented and awesome.

  • very nice man ! : ) i'm reading the sandman and it's better than i expected, i will be looking for his other works after this, 1000% talent : D

  • LOL! He's so fucking good! The betters books are Good Omens and Smoke and Mirros. Fragile Things isn't very good.

  • SMOKE AND MIRRORS WAS AWESOME!!!

  • he is just brilliant

  • I have this poem on a little poster that came with a Brian Froud book. :)

    Neil is awesome. <3

  • He reads so well :)

  • His daughter goes to my school haha.

  • OMG

  • sometimes I think muh boobz are 2 big. LOL

anyone want 2 cybr? MSG me on M.S.N. ID is in my profile. lz

  • Hopefully I'll be seeing him in London on Halloween.

  • He's a genius! There is more in his stories then you find at first glance. Sometimes you find out a whole new layer when you read them a second time. I wonder how he is connected to the other worlds he describes...

  • He is the most charming person I've met. He's inspiriting me in my life so much. And stories... totally awesome. He would be my platonic love till I die. If you would have any chance to meet him, do this, you would be enchanted.

  • First part reminds me of Pan's Labyrinth.

    Awesome poem, and it's free.

  • I love his imagination.

    He is inspiration.

  • neil gaiman is more attractive than his creative talent sometimes

    mmm

  • Agreed. XD

  • Gah I fancy him lots.

  • This is from Smoke and Mirrors?

  • I like that poem. And wow, he does have a great reading voice.

  • He's really a nice guy. The poem sucked, though...

  • I love him so.

God, he's just... He's everything I aspire to be as an author. He's just such a great guy. I don't know, I'm coming over all wibbly -- basically, he's my hero.

  • I completely agree.

  • this guy is just so good.

  • thanks to his books I can speak English now

  • he is the wind that passes through our lives, filled with knowledge and wisdom, when he fades i believe i'll preserve him in a jar and pass it on for other generations, as to feed the fires of our burning desire for truth, wisdom and imagination for ever and always.

  • Gosh, his voice sends chills up my spine. I've never heard his voice before. xD

  • check out this story: google FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS HEYNK

  • A remarkable talent. We are lucky to have him and I'm going to savor his works while he yet lives, so that when he passes on, I won't have that unfulfilled feeling.

  • holy crap, he's really young, don't talk like that o_o'' he could outlive ya you know MWHAHA

  • Yeah, isn't he 40? He's hopefully got another 35 years left at least.

  • he's 48. :-)

  • dear god...he is just TEH sex.

  • *runs, minus a few to many items of clothing, haha*

  • breed with me

  • It is my opinion that this man is what we have instead of William Shakespeare.

  • Amazing. Neil is really a genius, he writes so well PLUS he reads so well. His audiobook rendition of "Stardust" is brilliant!

One my all-time heroes, together with Douglas Adams :)

  • I envy his talent. Read his work. It's all good. Take your pick.

  • awesome dude

  • He is a genious.

  • I have such a ridiculous schoolgirl crush on this man that I feel I need to share it with the world via a YouTube comment.

  • I'm with you 100% on this! :P

  • You honestly could not have a crush on him. Whenever I mention Neil Gaiman to someone I get this glassy eyed look and a strange smile. He's a wonder.

  • I absolutely love it.

    And I do agree...he's hot

  • He is sooo smoking hot for a writer. To hell with it, he's hot.

  • A lovely reading! But Neil has forgotten that he actually first wrote the poem for a children's fairy tale anthology called A Wolf at the Door, at the request of the book's editors Ellen Datlow & Terri Windling -- who have never been in doubt that Neil is a terrific poet!

  • thanks, now I know where to find it. I was thinking of putting it up in the nursery.

  • I love the intro to the reading...

a bit of a 18th century rock star - if in fact time could bend and the last remaining inquisitors didnt find you first, Neil.

  • That is the best comment about Neil I've ever read. :)

  • Seconded!! He does seem displaced from some long ago time and that is definitely to our benefit.

  • Quite Americanised.

He seems so normal and nice.

I expected him to be distant and sound like Jarvis Cocker Dx

  • Yeah, I think it's cool he lives here in the states now.

One of us, one of us

  • If you crossed Cat Stevens and Dylan Moran...

  • Could listen to him talk all day long - I think I actually like Fragile Things better than Smoke & Mirrors... This was one of my favorite parts of it & I'm glad we got the poems free :)

  • I worship this guy, but i've only read his work- never heard him or seen him doing anything... But after seeing this- i must admit i'm not disappointed. This man is a legend! Sandman forever!

  • Yes, sandman rocks! Morpheus is fucking awesome. How far are you in the series?

  • *laughs wildly* My friend I have read all 10 and am in the process of getting the elusive number 11: Endless Nights. If you haven't read it yet watch out for book 7. It's my personal favorite.

  • Is that the really short volume with only 4 books. I must admit I'm not too far at all just finished The doll house.

  • Er- that's book two (Doll's house). and i don't remember how many volumes book 7's got, but i don't remember it being short. Just do me a favour and read them all. You won't be sorry.

  • Brilliant - this is the essence of story.
