You can also look up compared waiting periods for doctors appointments in Canada and the Untied States. Bottom line: the US is the best place to get sick. That will go away with the government option. We KNOW THIS from 60 years of experimentation with universal health care. Liberal.

Let's get this strait: the government option _will_ kill private health insurance. We've tested this on several nations, and we know. Fact: the government option doesn't work. The more socialized medicine becomes, the less effective it is, the longer the waiting periods, the more expensive for everyone in the nation. Fact: incentive to maintain personal health is destroyed. Nothing is good about UHC. Nothing. Ask the Swedes. Ask the British. Ask the Canadians.

Oh, and by the way, the Swedes, The Brits, the Canadians, the French, the Germans, the Spanish ( I could go on) all have longer life-expectancies and lower infant mortality rates than citizens of the U.S. I think to totally dismiss European models simply because they're European is incredibly stubborn.

It is unbelievably inferior to argue that because a conservative cites conservatives, he is wrong (maybe the conservatives are right???). The natives of those nations you're citing have longer life expectancies because they have better diets, but their medical care is not up the standard of the US. Their mortality rates are lower because they can't get in hospitals (or refuse to go entirely). For serious medical treatment, they fly to the United States. The European model is broken. Face it.

People from European nations and Canada who are really sick come to the United States for treatment and sometimes die here.
