I just read an article about the "skunk" train from Fort Bragg from the May 1959 issue of National Geographic (a neighbor was throwing away a whole library of the magazine) and it's great to see the scenic line is still alive!
Stop! You can't go to Willit's, It's Against The Law to trespass onto private trackage. Until You pay the fine of $500K, your train will be impounded.
Now the only way out of here is to walk the track.
LOL.
It's been almost 7 years since I rode behind Old 45. She was black at the time, but still it was awesome to ride behind her.
Rode the skunk in 1990 pulled by 45..You have a Beautifully Framed Shot of her coming out of the tunnel but the edit is way too short! Add a few more seconds of the train going by and you'll be golden..
I think I saw that dog when I was on the train this passed weekend. Are you one of those people who live in the cabins and rely on the train for transportation? Cause that same dog was on the open car.
I have a postcard with a picture of a mallet on it (if I remember correctly) with the caption "The Super Skunk" on it. Does anybody have any further information on this? I've seen information on a certain #46, which fits the bill...
My family and I were on the Skunk Train back in the early 80's. We were pulled to Willits and back with the diesel locomotive. It was an awesome ride. The scenery over the mountain too. It was during the summer, and the temp was around 65 deg on the mountain. It's worth the $ and trip to Ft.Bragg, Ca.
i live here.

Maybe in the future #45 will make an excursion to Los Angeles and San Diego!

A trip to Los Angeles or San Diego would be wonderful but there is a lot of unmaintained track betwixt here and there!!

I hope CWRR #45 will make an excursion to Los Angeles and San Diego soon in the future!

I would definitely keep dreaming, because of the trackage factor, and that there's no reason/funding for it to do so.
But, it would be a treat.
