People expected people to write songs in those days, and folks like Cat obliged us with so very many jewels so near and dear to the hearts of all. This song has been made a hit by four different artists including Stevens who of course penned it. How many songs have that distinction?Now songwriters are the enemy. If you had this kind of creativity and sincerity, the corporate music system that wants people to think that American Idol is all that matters would actively suppress your music.

Hard to believe that the guy who wrote the song "Peace Train" is now calling for the death of Salamon Rushdie because he doesn't like his book. But, of course, we all know that Islam is the "religion of peace" - - I'm sure that Cat wants Rushdie to be murdered in the most peaceful manner possible.

@danbaxley It is a religion of peace if people choose to interpret it in that way. It seems the Abrahamic traditions in general predispose people toward intolerance and violence. Take your pick, in order of appearance: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. A whole litany or horrors awaits you. Exodus 20:4-5. But there is nothing in modern-day Christianity or Judaism that equates to the savagery perpetrated in the name of Islam today--terrorism, "honor" killings, putting people to death for converting, stoning homosexuals, riots and murder in response to cartoons, etc., etc
