Drive like this on the 400 series in Ontario you'll end up causing an accident that will cause THOUSANDS to be late for what ever... Or get chased down by the cops in a matter of minutes.
@TurboCathedral Have you seen any chinese people drive like this in US? I'm pretty sure you would drive like this or couldn't even move if you were in China. believe or not, drivers in China have much more driving skills than so called drivers in US.
@jamesshao2009 There is a difference between driving skills and recklessness coupled with stupidity. I may not know Chinese motor vehicle codes, but I'm pretty sure driving on the shoulder is an offense in both the US and China...and what will cause us to have accidents will certainly apply to you guys as well. I have seen Chinese people drive over here....and suffice it to say, they don't know how to drive.
@TurboCathedral you know what, do you know how to get a driver licence in China?if you want to get chinese driver licence ,you have to take a 30 days driving lessons.the cars they use are manual ones !including text and driving text. but as far as I know, one of my friend just passed the driving text yesterday in US and got a driver licence, 5days ago she didn't even know how to make a difference between brake and gas. may be you are good driver, but I believe 3/4 of US drivers are retards.
@jamesshao2009 I won't disagree with you on the fact that 3/4 of the drivers over here are, as you put it "retards" (By the way; alot of people take offense to that word over here)....and they all reside on the East Coast, California, or around the major cities. Even so, they still don't drive as bad as the Chinese do. The 30 day mandatory behind the wheel training is only effective if people follow what they're taught. I doubt this driver was taught to do this.
@TurboCathedral dude, There are a few of people, I mean, almost none of drivers follow the rules in China, if you have the experience driving in China, you would notice that a big amont of cars and a big population causes a lot problems, including the bad road driving condition as you see in the video. believe it or not, I saw some Americans who are working in Beijing drive like this too! and I believe you would be driving like this if you are China, no body like it, but no one can change it.
@TurboCathedral but what I don't understand is that you said " they still don't drive as bad as the Chinese do" .so you meant that chinese drivers don't obey the rules or don't have much driving skills? what I know is that , I indeed drive like crazy in China, but i do drive same like other American drivers do. Let me tell you what is a skilled driver, a skilled driver should be able to react enough and has foresight to avoid the coming danger. a lot drivers dont have this in a pieceful road.
@jamesshao2009 I'm saying that the Chinese don't follow traffic laws, as evidenced by most of the videos I've seen on here. Skills of reaction and foresight for coming danger are well and good, but the real skill comes from driving in a manner that produces as little danger as possible. Weaving in and out of traffic and using the shoulder as a travel lane is not the way to do that. I would think that a country with such a large metropolitan population as China would take that to heart.
Why driving in breakdown/emergency lane, is it forbidden to do this in china? Here my country it's forbidden to drive on that lane and you get fine or lose your license. What hell wrong with chinese road.
The driving habits of chinese are bad. however, I must say the driver in the video is still rare. As my countryman wonderred below --- he always run along the emergency lane, that is absolutely forbidden. The majority of chinese drivers do not dare to do in this way.
I went to China in late September and early October 2007 for the Special Olympics World Summer Games, and notice a bit of crazy driving on Chinese highways, especially Shanghai to Hangzhou.
Of course, there are crazy drivers through Canada as well, especially in Newfoundland where motorists pass you even when you travel the speed limit.
people like you should be arrested, put in jail for 6 months, required to pay a fine about 100,000 yuan. That would finally bring some order to chinese highways. Idiot!
don't drive on the shoulder. too dangerous

There are more than a billion people in China, so who gives a shit even about a single death?
muhablaha 6 months ago
There is NOTHING rare about that driver. That is how most people drive in both China and Taiwan.
People here do not care if you are on the road. If you are in their way, you will end up under their car.
As the Chinese saying goes, "My father is Li Gang! / 我爸是李刚!"
There are only two laws here.
1. The bigger vehicle ALWAYS has the right of way.
2. If you are rich, or your family is in the government, you are above the law.

if its forbidden and no one usually does this then why was about 1 in 10 of the other drivers also on the shoulder?

so the shoulder is the fast lane.

that looks like pretty good driving. a little aggressive but it looks like the other drivers are going very slowly for a highway.
