I love this movie. I stumbled across it this spring right after my sis-in-law (she was my best friend) died. I immediately bought it and have re-watched MANY times.
Oh my god poor Gerry he really does look like he's dying! Poor guy. I always wondered if he was balding and sickly looking during his last days. I cried looking at him
I wish they would have left this in the scene...it would have explained the emotional response that the agent had when she realized it was Gerry's wife...it's sad and hilarious all at the same time...loved it...xx
o thank god they cut it... it would ruin the movie... that was the whole point, to payng attention to gerry'w last day's but to holy. however the last seconds are hilarious haha
holy crap i love it... made me lol soooo hard... its sad cuz he already looks so dead... nearly started to cry (im NOT a crier at all) but then cracked up... seen the movie once and loved it... im gonna buy it as soon as i get back from camp!!!
Seeing this deleted scene really cracked me up...it reminded me of the pranks my late hubby would pull ALL THE TIME! They really should have left it in...I have first hand knowledge that when you lose a spouse, you spend part of your time crying, and part laughing...it's really a great film. I saw it once, and bought the DVD.
@TheMonamoon how is it not it wasn't at the start when he faked the first one but the last one was hilarious because when he says " i thought that was a little to much myself " i really thought it was hilarious !!
Oh my gosh...I couldn't help crying at this...But it is so Gerry... I freaked out when he 'fainted' but then cracked up by the end.... loved it ....love him ...and this movie
This is such a cute scene! it is soo gerry, i wish they kept it in the film though cause then i would hav made more sense to how he was able to plan and write the letters, it also explains his death more
this scene captures everything the movie is. It's the sadness mixed with fun. I really like this scene. I don't think it would have worked in the movie, but I'm glad they included it on the dvd.
I was so happy when I saw this scene on the dvd. This, and the ice cream scene were my favorites from the book. And Gerry... the man is a rare talent. The man doesn't even have to open his mouth to act. His eyes and facial expressions say it all.
aw i wish they'd kept that in.love the book and the film sooo much : ) love how you go from bawling your eyes out to laughing your head off every 5 mins.
"I thought that was a bit too much meself!" that was so freaking cute! wish they could have kept ti, but i'm gald they kept it in the dvd bonus....love you gerry!
No i think it would have been good because...honestly I wasn't really sure how he did all of the letters..i mean i assumed his death was expected and thats how he planned everything but still.
I'm glad they cut it just because it ruins the audience's idea of Gerry, but I'm also glad to see this after I watched the movie. Thanks for uploading this. :)
I agree he's funny in this scene but I do think it's WAY better in the book. Even though the 2 are very different anyway, I still think its one of the BEST romantic movies ever made (and will ever be made)!!!!
i think it's okay they deleted it. i mean he's real funny but it would be the only scene where we get to see him that ill, and the whole movie shows us Gerry in the memory of Holly and in that he's not hurt in any way.
I'm sorry, but to me this scene SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CUT!!! It was a beautiful scene in the book and added so much depth to Gerry's character. Plus, his timing was right on. When she started crying, I started crying, and then when she realized he was joking about dying, I was laughing through my tears. Shame on the director for not thinking more of his audience. I watched my Dad die from cancer and Gerry was right on in how he looked, how he acted, etc.
I guess the director did not put this scene in the movie because it was Hilary Swank's journey to finding Gerry's clues and surprises, had they put that scene, there would not have been the element of surprise , at least to us as viewers. And someone mentioned in one of the previous posts the journey is Swank's character's perspective and journey.
and gerry was amazing..!!!but i havent read the book,,so after seeing the movie I bought the book, and then every time i read it i have gerry in my mind and that made the book seem more touching and more handsome..!:-p
I cried as while reading the book.Much more details..!!
I can not forget that scene where he first met her on her first trip to Irland..How come we don't meet interesting, mysterious, good looking men like that!! :D HAHHAHA
!!! wow, i'm glad they didn't put this in the movie when i saw it. i would never have stopped crying. i think, however, it was more heartwrenching to not see the die, just to know is painful. the movie is mostly from her point of view anyway.
Im kinda sad that they didnt put this in the movie i read the book and was thinking that that would have been a good scene to put in the movie. And also evreyone is saying that its on the special features but i dont think the dvd i bought has it is it onlike a special edition dvd or something?
woodstock that must of been really hard for you, how did you cope with that? just looking at gerry looking like makes me cry, let alone my close family.
i loved this bit in the book it was really good, they should have put it in the film. i well love gerry :) xx
i was also so disappointed this scene wasn't in d movie... this was the part that i cried most when reading the book.. so,it was kind of a let down when i saw the movie.. thank goodness i see it here though!
Omg, I'm crying now...seriously. He looked just like my Dad when he had cancer--and my sister had a brain tumor when we were just kids so yeah...that one hit me right in the gut... wow, I need to go get some tissues...
I was so disappointed that this scene wasn't in the movie. When i read it in the book it made me cry. Gerry looks so different, and i think they should have kept it in to show how Gerry fought to get his job done until the last possible moment.
I'm glad they put it on the special features tho.
I waited to see this movie. I LOVE everything Gerry does but just had to wait. I used five tissues crying during this movie. This scene was so different. I cried then laughed, then cried again. I must buy this movie.

Not sure either if i would like having seen it in the movie.....
It's pretty distructing yet, it is reality...and it's what Gerry and Holly had to deal and struggle with....
Now i understand why GB quite on smoking.....Seeing oneself in the mirror under this make up is a huge anti-smoking motivation.....
