did you finally repair it? my archos does the same as yours, I fell down it a few minutes ago and it crushed, I know the problem is the hdd, but did you repair it?
My archos was doing the exactly the same thing, doing that loop for over an hour sometimes. I did a full format and a reset by using the button at the base, and it seems to be ok now.
No it was fine for the first 3 days of use, with the occasional lock up using the web browser. But the next 3 days it was doing that loop for minutes/hours. I finally got fed up after it doing that for 12 hours, so I sent it in for repair. It was at the repair center for 9 days. When it came back it worked... for 4 hours, now it's back to doing this.
So not only are their products buggy, but their support is also terrible.
That's "Archos" xD
A lot of Archos devices have problems. They're cheap-built, I admit...
I've had my A5 250gb for 7 months. It's still working well.
I wonder how my face would look like when my A5 stops working.

I noramlly hold the power for about a minute It resets the firmware.I have the 250 gb its awesomely sexy

Yep. The current firmware, and the one before that both do not stop my Archos 5 from doing this loop.
However I did just do a format, and It has stopped doing this loop for now...

Yeah, they should have not released the Archos 5 or 7 so soon; at least not until it was thoroughly tested first.
