Great series, very interesting especially to someone who wants to know how you tame the dog's natural instincts. I have a very large muscular pedigree labrador, whose body shape leansislike a newfie. He would drag me in front of a bus to chase a cat, or bird, He would pull me down a grass bank to get into the water. His father was bred as an airport sniffer and he has the same characteristics, he would not make a guide dog, however I regret not being able to utilize his sniffing tendencies.
@tara6692 I haven't actually measured how tall Ricki is, I can tell you that she is only about 50#. There are actually 2 brown lab puppies in training right now. There is just not a lot of the gene that makes the brown color in the breeding stock, so that's why there are so few.
@MrCmlhe check out some of the early episodes, we show a little house training. We do keep a leash on the puppy most of the time and do set ups to train them to leave items they are not suppose to have.
love the cool water shots! cant wait to get my guide dog puppy! im with canine companions for independence and i half to wait 3 months for my dog!!!!!!!!!! hope i can wait that long! i really love your episodes bcause when i applied for a service dog pup i didnt really now much information then thank the lord i found your videos and i learned so many techniques and informations about it that really helped me thank you hope raising a puppy is a great experience!
..umm.. hmm. The impossible question. I loved all of them becasue Ricki is the same age as my last pup (he got CC'd in February) and so you kept giving me good outing ideas :) ..I liked the one where you guys went to the Jelly Belly company. That was a pretty cool outing. ..But there are too many to choose from :)
Week 34, because it is so neat that you got to see one of your former puppies in her new home and it's cool to see why you have to train them the way that they are trained. It's also a great episode to show people who don't know much about guide dogs or puppies what it's all about. And cause you came to my city :P
My fav episode is the very first episode where Ricki screams bloody murder all night long in her crate. I bet nobody got any sleep that night.....or week for that matter.
Another great episode! My favorite episode would have to be the first first one because it's amazing how far shes improved from a little whiny puppy to a mature working dog. :)
hehe, they seem to really enjoy the water :-) I was wondering if you've ever raised a vegan dog. I've been doing some research and I'm a bit disturbed with what I've been hearing concerning the products used in pet food...
my fave episode is probably a tie between when ricki goes on her first plane because that was a great episode for me to learn about handling my puppy when we take him to the airport in about 6 months, and then the little series of vids where ricki goes to vegas!

Hi I'll like to ask a question.
How do you teach a gide dog puppy house manners, and how do you teach ricki not to grab food from counters etc?
I'm just curious
Thanks.
A really good show!

I like the shows where you guys go parks and other attractions. Beautiful country, and interesting sights!
