  • And I just added some baby batter looking at the album cover on the screen

  • Who are these gorgeous Models on Herb Alpert's Album Covers? Wow--especially this one!

  • @poitrenaud I would estimate she is now 70 as this album was release 47 years ago (1965) and were she 23 at that time. Kinda puts a damper on the ants in my pants.

  • Hal Blaine was Elvis' drummer for a certain period end of the sixties or/and begininng of the seventies.

  • Another example of what makes Hal Blaine one of the world's best (and, needless to say, most recorded) drummers of all time.

  • @billyjoeboomboom Wasn't this recorded when the Tijuana Brass were all still session players? Herb didn't assemble "the" Tijuana Brass until '65, but guys like Pisano were carried over from the session days.

  • @wannawatchu66 That's right, and Hal Blaine was the session drummer on A Taste of Honey, before Nick Ceroli (a great drummer in his own right) joined the band for live performances.

  • @billyjoeboomboom Was Hal the ONLY drummer Herb employed before hiring Nick or were there others?

  • @wannawatchu66 Mel Taylor was the session drummer on The Lonely Bull (recorded in 1962).

  • @billyjoeboomboom And Carol Kaye is the bass player.

  • @THeMaskedBlogCritic Didn't know that, and I'm not surprised. Carol, Joe Osborn, and Lee Sklar are my three favorite cross-genre bassists. Thanks for the info!

  • @THeMaskedBlogCritic A woman's playing bass here?

  • @wannawatchu66 Yep! I just found it out recently, but as billy said, its not suprising, it was usually the same group of musicians on pretty much everything that rolled out of California during that time period. Check out Carols page to really get blown away by how many sessions she did and who she played for.

  • @THeMaskedBlogCritic So, did Carol do the bass work for the whole Whipped album, or just certain songs, do you know? I ask partly because the bass line isn't very prominent at all on "Butterball," but on "A Taste of Honey" and "Lollipops 'n' Roses," it's easy to follow the bass line because it's right out there.

  • @billyjoeboomboom True Statement There.

  • pump pa dump pump pa dump ! Great song!
