I have always thought a guitar such as that and the right computer program could be incredible accelerated learning, much like learning how to properly type. I think you should model aspects of the 'learning' program after the way the typing programs work. IE - you drill a scale over and over and over and over up and down the neck. Or you drill a specific sequence over and over, arpeggios over and over, triads all over the neck over and over, and create the 'video game' aspect to it as well.
I have more ideas but they are too long to type on youtube. I hope this project goes well for you. I would have loved to have started something like this but know nothing about programming.
Hey - I've made a couple of videos using the EZ-EG, and a lot of people ask about getting the frets to light up for stuff like this. I'll definitely tell everyone to keep an eye on the development of your software, looks promising! I know Marc's script could light the frets, but would you mind sharing some detail on how you did it? Was it SysEx or did you find another way?
@dtigweld That's great thanks - I'll have a fiddle around in Max/MSP and see what I can come up with. What've you coded your app in? If it's anything that would permit a Mac port I'd love to help out.

@loneguitaristyannis
I use a SysEx message to turn the frets
on and off. The function id is 3 for on and 4
for off. Hope this helps.
