we dont really need J11. Instead pakistan has JF17 36 by 2011 there will be 120 JF17 and by 2012 about 250. Also Pakistan has 43 F16s plus 15 more just came in on march 29 2010. Actually i never read that the Chinese offered the J-11A (Chinese Flankers with mostly Russian parts) but the J-10.
Because all Su-27SK, UBK and J-11A had been powerd by the Russian AL-31F engine, so if China wants to sell that plane it needs to get an OK from Russia first. China's J-11B (improved Chinese Flanker with lighter airframe, more advanced avionics and radar, indigenius HUD, MFD and weapons) are finally powered by the Chinese engine WS-10A. J-11B is comparable with the SU-30 or F-15E

Russia did not give the PRC an export liscence with the su 27 transfer...if the Chinese do this without Russian approval they will find themselves without spar parts and ammo in no time for all of the russian equipment they have bought.

J-11B is not Su-30MKK. though they may have alot of similarities.. J-11 is chinese licensed of russian Su-30 family with their own subsystems.. like you know the F-6 which was a copy of mig-19 and so was F-7 a mig-21 but both were sold to us. we operated both of them without russia's approval..
and F-16 do not cost 14 - 18 million dollars at all!! F-16 A/B block 15 may cost 15 million dollars but defiantly not the new F-16 block 52+ CD. Isreali F-16 cost over 60 million dollars and UAE cost as much as well.. the pakistani F-16 block 52+ has alot of add on features so it will cost about 40 million dollars..

The Chinese package of Upgraded MLU J-11 or J-11B's is the best deal however the Chinese still doesn't have a true BVR missile even. It isn't range that china lacks its the missile targeting systems and compatible radars. This will be why china will pay pakistan for the AIM-120C5 missile and steal the tech. So you will not be surprised when PAF chooses to F16 MLU over J-11. US corporations don't care about govt secrets they just want to buy that bentley or Ferrari California.

@BBEEAANN1NATO's one plus point is that all the members are equipped with latest gizmos. But having gizmos and fighting a head-long war are 2 totally different things.
If some NATO state in Europe is attacked, how long do you think that state would be able to hold off an invasion without coalition support? Not too long. US has to ultimately come to rescue that state. That's the game changer. An alliance having tiny modern members where 1 big member has to recuse the rest, is a liability.

NATO is a joke if considered independently country to country. Only US is the strong one followed by UK and somewhat France. Others are simply there to watch the show.

@BBEEAANN1 Wrong. US/NATO has shot down MiGs of countries that don't have strong training, are relatively small and are often out-numbered by "Allied" forces. Though I am a neutral party here on this page, US got into deep trouble training with IAF as they were not allowed to use AWACs and other fancy stuff engaging in pure dogfights. The MiG-21s were the jets that impressed USAF guys the most in these exercises.
Individually NATO countries are nothing even when facing same-size rivals.

Pakistani Air Force is getting 40 of these FC-20 Vanguard by 2015. The PAF will also get 25 JF-17 this year, by 2015 total 150, and by 2020 the total acquire 275. The PAF will probably upgraded all 84 F-16A/B/C/D to block 52. The PAF should buy J-11BS (two seat) from China. I also heard Pakistan will get their own 5th Gen. is called JF-17X.

we dont really need J11. Instead pakistan has JF17 36 by 2011 there will be 120 JF17 and by 2012 about 250. Also Pakistan has 43 F16s plus 15 more just came in on march 29 2010. That make 58 F16s and then by the help of U.S. we will be getting 30 more F16C/D. The reason for that is we are fighting a war in Swat.

the F7 and mirages are old but the avionics and radar has been upgraded,mirages at sargodha are really good,they got good night striking capability and jamming system,same thing with F7 it has italian radar and avionics,my brother in law is pilot in PAF,he was flying F7,it has a diff role but its good,and for SU30mki we will get FC20 and it will be not J10,it will be all diff in radar,avionics,missile system,pakistan and china do every thing behind close doors,F16 bl52 n FC20 will takecare of it

Have you seen teh difference?mig29 and mirage 2000 were developing when mirage 3/5 became outdated.I can find 100 sources saying were do developer(25%) and half financer(50%) of pak fa which will have spinoff fgfa.we will order 50 of the former and 200 of the latter.Plus even our mig-21 have israeli jammers and can fire bvr missiles.Our jags are getting new engines prolly honeywell or rolls royce.Mirage 2000 are being upgraded for 1.9/2.1 bil.

i think F16 will be still a better choice compare to j11,if J11 has some more capabilities then PAF should consider it or else F16 is the best,because it cost less to maintain it and is very effective.PAF should try for F16 block 60 if they can get it from UAE it will be great,but we will have FC 20 which is way better if PAF is looking for a twin engine jet,then they should go for typhoon,less in numbers but best in quality.any way the officers in air headquarter knows better than us what to do

Actually i never read that the Chinese offered the J-11A (Chinese Flankers with mostly Russian parts) but the J-10.
Because all Su-27SK, UBK and J-11A had been powerd by the Russian AL-31F engine, so if China wants to sell that plane it needs to get an OK from Russia first. China's J-11B (improved Chinese Flanker with lighter airframe, more advanced avionics and radar, indigenius HUD, MFD and weapons) are finally powered by the Chinese engine WS-10A. J-11B is comparable with the SU-30 or F-15E

yes it is expensive,but i was not thinking about 120 fighter,i was thinking around 35-40,and with FC20 it will be great,but still its a twin engine and will cost a lot in maintaining them,all twin engine jets cost a lot,i think FC20 will be good enough with european avionics,radar and other systems.however,if PAF thinks that they should include another fighter,then i think GRIPEN will be a perfect choice,cost a lot less than others in its class,and can be maintain easily.

dear the cross sectional area of J 11 is way more than f 16 .. so it can easily be detected and intercepted few mins before the f 16.. thats why whether india maybe having this su 30 but it lacks the stealth part .. unlike f 16

Russia did not give the PRC an export liscence with the su 27 transfer...if the Chinese do this without Russian approval they will find themselves without spar parts and ammo in no time for all of the russian equipment they have bought.

Yeah I was replying to the talk of having no spare parts or ammo that ap03at mentioned.
The J-11B as you said is really a Flanker built with Chinese materials, and also uses chinese weapons, so the J-11B would not run out of ammo or spare parts because it can be locally sourced.
I wasn't really mentioning the patent at all or export lisences or anything.

I agree with u fazail00007! But Gripen NG has Super Cruise,stealth, Thrust Vectoring,AESA radar which I doubt J10 or J11 has it now maybe in future! Gripen is also cheap with all the above features in it.
Plus I know J10/FC20 Vanguards have evoloved and a new version is to be released soon after pakistan's input and requirements. It would be called I guess J10B or FC20 (pakistani designation)! It has been improved sufficiently!

Dude, PAKISTAN CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY China J-11 also known as Su-30MKK which cost them $53 million dollar! Pakistan decide to buy USA F-16A/B Falcon and F-16C/D Fighting Falcon. F-16A/B cost $14.6 million and F-16C/D cost $18.8 million. Pakistan bought 62 F-16A/B and 18 F-16C/D (F-16C/D will be delivered by 2010)!

J-11B is not Su-30MKK. though they may have alot of similarities.. J-11 is chinese licensed of russian Su-30 family with their own subsystems.. like you know the F-6 which was a copy of mig-19 and so was F-7 a mig-21 but both were sold to us. we operated both of them without russia's approval..
So J-11 will be ready for us.

and F-16 do not cost 14 - 18 million dollars at all!! F-16 A/B block 15 may cost 15 million dollars but defiantly not the new F-16 block 52+ CD. Isreali F-16 cost over 60 million dollars and UAE cost as much as well.. the pakistani F-16 block 52+ has alot of add on features so it will cost about 40 million dollars..
