  • y esos cajones peruanos q hacen en un baile flamenco?

  • sooooooooooooooo cheeeeeeezzzzyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • happy feeet aint got nothing on this guy

  • u need to put a new battery in your smoke detector..

  • what a show off this is not real flamenco

  • pERFECT AND BEAUTIFULL

  • @MsPaco24

Since I've read your commet, I have watched video's of Farruquito en Nimes. And you are right. That man is amazing good!

  • truly amazing!

  • pasion flamenca asi deberia llamarse!!!!

  • Well for me the best dancer now is farrukito and i guess for some can be Cortes, but not for my taste. I rather see some good flamenco than just a show.

  • Joaquin Cortes Took Europe by storm with raw Talent!

  • he's hot hahhahah

  • Don't tell me that you guys did not know that he was discover in a reality show. What a joke to flamenco.

  • This is reallyty show flamenco. :) what a joke.

  • flamenco is culture! and what he does is amazing he's a great dancer.

  • This is not flamenco. Farruquito and Farruco that is real flamenco. This is a ballet dancer that wants to dance flamenco. I guess you don't know much about it.

  • cesar2333)Actually for the last 5 years or so Joaquin Cortes (in the clip has been nominated the King of Flamenco He is the Nephew of Antonio Cortas and comes from a long line of Famous Gypsy Dancers

He took Europe "By Storm" He attracts audiences in a volume only perviously know by Michael Flatly's River Dance, and even packed the theatre in the small seaside town of Llandudno North Wales. However this clip is not one of his best it is obviously from a film so please do not judge him by it.

  • Dayuuum...I missed this that year. I don't pay that show any mind, but I'm PISSED to have missed him!!

  • I like farrukito better

  • If only Farruquito wore less clothes and had his charisma. Farruquito is more "traditional" with his dance and has more fire...so you do have a point.

  • I like that's it dead quiet, then someone goes "EEEEEEK!" when he points.

  • This man is simply amazing.

I saw him live ("mi soledad" show) and his performance was brilliant.

  • Farruco o Flamenco, este bello hombre lo hace un arte.

  • He is not doing "flamenco", its called farruca, a variation of it and usually very masculine in form compared to other flamenco variations

  • My friend the farruca dance you are talking about is part of flamenco and the best known for that kind of dance are the Farrucos if you did not know, and the best of them at it is Farrukito. Is a whole family tradition my friend and it does not belong to Cortes.

  • GROW UP IDIOT!

  • @cesar2333 I agree with you cesar. This looks more like step-dancing. Flamenco is is all about the powerful expression of passion, and this felt more like ballet to me than expression of power. It's too watered down, too consumerist. I'd love to see someone with real fire and passion and less ballet.

  • Take a look at the Farrucos and Farruquito if you want to see some good flamenco male dancers. This Cortes dancer is a joke to flamenco. He was actually discover in a reality show can you believe it? This is garbage.

  • @cesar2333

you're jealous at him! Cortes is a gypsy from Spain! In fact, he's trained ballet and flamenco dancer and has been performing since bunch of yrs ago.

  • Your 100% correct. He is famose all over Europe! they must be Isiots from accross the atlantic Ocean. Yes and JEALOUS of him.

  • you want more passion than that you gotta be kidding me if you want more get a lover !

  • astraiiia)Darling in view of your comment : I don't know which apply's BUT either Pay more attention, or change your teacher!

  • ouch! my ears!

  • este no gitano oleee farruquitooo eres tu el mejor

  • siiii olee farruquitoo !!! ole farruu !!! y ole a todos los farruco !!! tienen un flamenco puro y maravilloso !!

  • solo podria verlo 5 minutos, despues me canso

  • Cortes has good technique and good style, he is one of the the best flamenco dancers. But other than that he's only the most famous, because he seeks international attention and he has good PR.

  • @rspawn I would not agree with you. when u are the best, then the international attention seeks for you. it's proven

  • ah is perfect i love you joaquin..

  • i'm sorry but i disagree with those of you who say that this is a Tablao style of dance, Since when does a tablao dancer thrown in Pirouetes? NEVER. DO us a favor and learn what real flamenco is then disscuss. next you guys are going to tell me that Carmen Amaya was not a flamenco dancer. please, just do us a favor and leave the comenting to the people who actually can dance flamenco and know it's true form.

  • lol

No. This definitely is not a tablao style.

Having a distinct style that is uniquely one's own within this art form is what true flamenco is about, because everyone is a unique person with a unique set of life experiences.

That being said, what Joaquin does is pure bullshit.

    It's tittilation for the masses.

    And it's cheap.

  • he have is own style

more than his perfect moves,he dançe with all his soul and he make us feel the passion

we get all show without be able to take the eyes of him...one man dancing alone without leting us get bored...amazing

  • Joaquin You Are The BESt!!!!

  • His footwork sends chills up my spine. Incredible!

  • Joaquin is a fanstastic Flamenco dance but this was not the BEST performance ever. I have seen more moving dancing from Jose Greco, Maria Benitez and him--elsewhere. Yet it was still great Dancing with the Stars featured him. When I went to Spain, my friends all went to discos at night, but I went to see great Flamenco dancers at night clubs around town. I'd recommend it!

  • Ok..have to chek those guys up. But doesn´t change the fact that Joaquin still puts the fire in me. Flamenco or not.

  • lol

  • To me what Joaquin does is not flamenco. Is just tap dancing. You guys have to see Farruco and Farruquito. Just look for them on youtube. They are real flamenco dancers, this guy is just an opportunist i think.

  • Wonder if JLo affected his perceptions?

Although it is very soulful and intense when they dance together. More of that would have been better.

  • Actually it's been a happening for quite awhile, since Armani discovered him (pure marketing angle) and put him in Armani suits for his performances. It's been a downward spiral ever since. In a way, I can't blame him. All the great flamencos are not rich people, so take the money if you can get it.

However don't mistake was what he is doing for anything having artistry.

  • Forget the suits, Joaquin's persona has a lot to do with his appeal. He is intense. When you think he's done it all, he gives you more. Whatever you want to call it, he's very creative and his face is full of expression. I don't know why you find fault with Joaquin's brand of soul.

The money will come because he loves what he does. It's in him! The feedback he gets is what keeps him going. He's obviously very tuned in and reaping the benefits. He doesn't claim to be following tradition.

  • LOL The words you use to describe him in the your first paragraph could describe dozens of flamenco artists, male or female.

The money comes because he was part of Armani marketing. If not for that, no one would have "discovered" him.

There are many flamencos that would bury him. That you don't know that speaks to the amount of flamenco you have seen. It's ok. When I first started, I was impressed with alot of LOCAL flamenco in L.A., but what did I know? Not much. Now I know better.

  • So, Joaquin got lucky because Armani tapped into his genius. I hope these others that you mention get discoved too. A positive rebirth for Flamenco! ??? Something like Michael Flatley did for Irish dancing. I'm sure you know better and like a standard to compete with for your art. Sometimes that's not what entertainment is about. Joaquin might have a great chance to win out, now that he's got everyones attention. . . . . he can get back to basics when the time is right.

  • This dude seriously needs to go back to the roots and rediscover what flamenco is, and what it is not. I don't know. Maybe the money is too good to pass up <shrugs>

  • Joaquin Cortes has taken the passion and traditions of flamenco culture and updated and popularized them for a 21st century audience. This is modern revolutionized flamenco dance. This is his own gypsy style expression. He's too sexy for his shirt! Oh! He takes that off too sometimes! Yeah Baby!!!

  • Perhaps you are right. Essential to flamenco is spirit. I high compliment is when is said to have duende.

21st Century...hmmm...Let's see...Let's take rap, which reduces "art" to it's lowest common denominator. 21st Century where the cheap is held in high regard.

Yes, I guess you are right. This may very well be flamenco for today. Unfortunately, it is barely flamenco.

  • Well put! Traditional forms are dying and a generation with new ideas are desperately expressing their souls, bringing conflict for those older and wiser. I'm no expert in these matters. I just like what I see. I've never seen anything like it before. It's good to have a masculine balance in the dance world.

This guy is all male and it's so refreshing!

I hope he tours the U.S. I would love to see

him dance in person. I gather he's an international sensation and the women love him.

  • Soul-less flamenco. Joaquin has created an oxymoron

  • I thought that was my fire alarm. This red hot sexy gypsy from Spain totally captivated me. Joaquin is the hottest thing on earth! I hope he comes back more to the U.S. and makes his mark like Antonio Banderas. There is a gypsy in everybody's soul. This man ignites the passion. More! More!

  • that was one of the most awesomest things i've ever seen!

  • WOW! How lucky were were to see one of the world's best Flamenco Dancers on Dancing with the Stars. He was amazing and it was great to see it. Made me want to go to Barcelona. (Got a kick out of the gold Flamenco shoes though! :) )
