Danny Carey is the best drummer on the planet today. Anyone who might argue that simply does not know enough about drums. I've been playing for over 20 years, and I basicallly learned by emulating Vinnie Paul and Ted Kirkpatrick. I like to think that there is nothing I can't play....except Danny Carey stuff. It's not always huge crazy fills and fast double bass, but it's unbelievably technical, and he never plays the same beat twice. He's the best. No one else is even close.

anyone who says Danny Carey sucks or is a boring metal drummer, obviously cant play the drums themselves. If youre stuck in some jazz cloud then clear the fog and try to play what Danny does you train wreck. You probably think he sucks cause you cant play his stuff. yeah seriously a session drummer lol. i hate when people think that tool is maynard, fuck maynard. danny and justin are much better musicians and for the most part i think there appeal and draw that people come to like them for is there unique look and approach asthetically, there videos, album art, you catch my drift, is because of adam there guitar player. so again fuck maynard, if anything , he sings for one of the greatest bands ever not the other way around

You're right. Tool isn't just Maynard. But suggesting his importance is lesser than the other members of Tool is absurd. He has a superb voice. He writes stunning lyrical content. And he forms the vocal melodies for Tool. Without Maynard there is definitely no Tool. Without any of the there is no Tool! They are a band which began with their perfect setup.

I think he's got to be one of the most unique drummers in metal today, because I don't think many bands allow their drummer the freedom to be so creative. I love his 3 bar loops, 3 beat patterns, that loop back to return to the rhythm of the rest of the band - it takes huge skill to do that!

anyone can play something thats already been written, but to come up with what this guy does, on an almost daily basis, is really astronomical. anyone that doubts danny, should see a live show. Ive been playing for 20 years, but danny is well beyond his years in creative expression and discovery. He is most certainly "The Man".

Danny is a friggin ANIMAL!!! This guys is so great and technical on sooooo many levels. Such good technique and control. I've been drumming for damn near 20 years now, and I still piss my pants every time I hear Danny kick out the jams!! Definitely a one of a kind!!
