remember what serina says: threating a needle etc etc inside a planet thats falling apart, they basically made the core of the shield world overload, and the planet imploded

There's even an argument saying that Halo Wars may not even be canon with the Halo-Storyline arch.

As with all 3rd party games, such as Half-Life: Opposing Force, Fear: Perseus Mandate, Homeworld: Catacalysm, each and every one of those games has never been mentioned in any other future installment of the series.

Halo Wars is a game made by a 3rd party, i.e. not Bungie. So it's probably not canon, just a fun strategy game.

But the fact they entered Cryo-Sleep at the end shows they could still be lost in space somewhere floating about. We don't know if they're found or not, so it almost doesn't matter if its canon or not, a neat technique Ensemble used.

The war on Reach was also before the Halo storyline and they still mention it in Combat Evolved.

@HalfJawArbiter166 You are actually correct. I read a little article about it and saw some pics, but I still disagree that this John is Master Chief. The article hinted that this John was Master Chief's father, which makes sense considering this game is roughly 20 years prior to the events of Halo 1.

Plus there's so many little hints on the guys armor and pistol that may hint that Master Chief was given all those symbols and numbers out of what his father did, but I don't know.

John Forge's homeworld is the planet Earth, but Master Chief is from the colony planet Eridanus II. So unless John Forge was a very promiscuous 9 year old that enjoyed traveling from planet to planet, there is absolutely no possible way that he could be Master Chief's father.

Someone made a walkthrough trying to jump onto a Scarab. He destroyed it, but couldn't get onto the other, since he was supposed to only use the Hornet.
